In collaboration with Allied Esports, LiveXLive are looking to integrate Esports into music festivals. This will merge the multi-billion dollar industries in a space where they can co-habit. A couple of examples on LiveXLive’s streams include the massive EDC Las Vegas and Rock In Rio. This’ll surely be a great opportunity considering how Allied has 12 Esports venue, one of which is opening later this year in Australia.

Gaming and music have long lived in a somewhat shared space with each thriving as their own unit. Considering how rapid the growth of Esports is, it was only a matter of time until someone or something capitalized on it.

Currently, LiveXLive are partnering with Allied Esports to provide Esports trucks which basically act as mobile game centers. These trucks will be deployed at various music festivals and events around the globe for fans to interact with. Furthermore, the trucks will provide even more content through broadcasting streams, music news, interviews and more. So all in all, they can both act as an entertainment ground while providing media coverage.

To witness these trucks in action, you can do so at their debut on September 21st in Las Vegas during the iHeartRadio Music Festival’s stream.

Video Games and Music

It’s no secret how integral certain music can be to video gaming experiences and vice-versa. With the meteoric rise of Twitch and general streaming platforms, music has been injected in some capacity at all points. For example, Twitch has its own section titled Music & Performing Arts. More on that, streamers commonly play music in the background while they play video games or chat.

By simply having that, viewers are constantly being introduced to new music through their favorite streamer’s library. Some streamers are actually commonly known for having “best stream music” such as DOTA 2‘s Zai. If you tune into his stream, you’ll commonly hear Jon Hopkins, Moby, Nicolas Jaar and many more.

Departing from the realm of streams, many game conferences provide music entertainment and after-parties. Over the years, the names on these stages exponentially grew, integrating more artists and genres into the mix. To provide some context, the latest DreamHack event in Dallas hosted an EDM Night featuring Seven Lions.

On top of that, many more artists took to stages at gaming events such as The Glitch Mob, Kill The Noise, and deadmau5. Notably, The Glitch Mob took stage at League of Legends World Championship to perform their collaboration with Mako and The Word Alive. Separating performances too, artists such as deadmau5 and Matt Lange have crafted unique in-game soundtracks for DOTA 2. This all goes to show how the interactions between music and video games go beyond simply making built-in soundtracks.

Companies Stepping In

Globally renowned companies such as Red Bull have clearly taken keen notice on merging the worlds of music and gaming. Their contributions on the musical front has not been left unnoticed considering their music festival and more.

On the other hand, the company is backing the DOTA 2 team which won Valve‘s The International two years in a row! This was realized from the incredible potential to earn through that industry as the grand prize for first place reached $15,620,181 this year. The level of competition and popularity of video games has quickly propelled some players into stardom.

it pays to play video games

esports is love, esports is life pic.twitter.com/g6qt2nJDg1
— Rod Breslau (@Slasher) August 25, 2019

On a Practical Level

How would a merger between video games and music go hand-in-hand at an event? Well Lollapalooza hosted the Red Bull outpost this year, and that might give us an insight. The location brought together some of the most popular streamers today such as Ninja alongside some of the festival’s performers. Finding and merging audiences, the popular streamer teamed up with Astralwerks on Ninjawerks. This compiled together music from the likes of Nero, Kaskade, Tiesto, Arty, Tycho, 3LAU and many more. Looking towards what’s already happening, some producers are investing in Esports while others stream themselves.

Just take a look at this video showcasing the area which Madeon and many others popped into. These types of outposts and locations certainly attract a great number of people especially with appearances. Groupings of musicians, entertainers, professional players and fans come together in these common spaces.

Time will only tell as to how successful this collision will be, and to what scale it’s executable. For the time being, we look forward to seeing Allied Esports partner up with LiveXLive to showcase their plans. It’s definitely no surprise that the worlds of video games and music are colliding in this pattern. From here on out, it’ll be interesting to see how the details will be ironed out for an optimal experience on both ends.

Nicolas Jaar never takes a rest and we are grateful for that. Just about a month ago, he shared some insights about his upcoming ambient album, and today he’s just announced via Twitter that a new deluxe edition of his LP Sirens will be coming out on Friday, December 8th.

Sirens has been the second official studio album by Nicolas Jaar, released on September 2016 under his label Other People. The album has received generally good critics, and it has even been named the #1 Electronic Album of 2016 by Rolling Stone. By putting a lot of creativity to work when producing a track, Jaar is known to combine personal life experiences, historical movements and even politics into his music style, which results in a mix of sounds that is hypnotizing and powerful at the same time.

In the announcement, the Chilean-American producer also shares that this special edition will feature three new songs that were not included in the first issue of the album (but were created at the same time of the record), thus creating some expectation among fans and followers on the social media. Although we haven’t heard these songs yet, we are positive that they will have Jaar’s unique imprint as a distinctive stamp.

Panorama Music Festival took place at Randall’s Island Park in New York City over the weekend featuring sets from Justice, Nicolas Jaar, Cashmere Cat, Frank Ocean and several others. Unfortunately several acts had their sets cancelled due to the stage collapsing at one of the stages called the Parlor stage.

The floor of the indoor Parlor stage caved in and broke during a hip-hop performance by TDE’s, Isaiah Rashad on Friday in the late afternoon. Slated to play after Rashad was Cherry Glazerr, Breakbot and DJ Shadow who unfortunately all had their sets either cancelled or postponed.

Following the floor collapse, the people at the stage were evacuated and the Parlor stage was closed off for the rest of the night, but went without a hitch the rest of the weekend. Breakbot’s set was rescheduled as he ended up closing the Parlor stage on Saturday following a heavy lineup of Sofi Tukker, Matoma, Hot Since 82 and Nicolas Jaar.

DJ Shadow and Cherry Glazerr both tweeted out their disappointment with the cancelled sets letting their fans know that it was out of their control.

FYF Fest often advertises itself as the best weekend of the summer, and for the Los Angeles festival crowd, they did not disappoint. I want to be perfectly clear when I say that FYF Fest is in no way a rave, an EDM festival or anything even remotely close to resembling one. In fact, FYF Fest started as a punk festival 14 years ago by a then 18-year-old Sean Carlson, but has transformed into a diverse eclectic group of artists across several genres taking over a massive Los Angeles park. The evolution of the festival is truly unparalleled and the growth that occurred over the span of 14 years can truly be seen by looking at the location, the crowds, the artists booked and the overall experience offered.

FYF Fest has come a long way since it debuted in 2004 as a one-day event at the Echo, the EchoPlex, and a few other small local LA venues. Today, the festival has expanded to the now-norm three day format and they have completely sold out their space at Exposition Park in the heart of downtown LA. Back when it started, there were only about 30 bands spread out over a few small local venues that could hold less than a couple thousand people, collectively. Now, FYF Fest is a full fledged festival with over 70 artists performing across six stages with an approximate 40,000 attendees.

FYF Fest can somewhat be described as Coachella‘s little brother who is growing older and getting better than it’s big brother in certain ways. It it put on by Goldenvoice, the same company who puts on Coachella, and the lineup and crowd are similar to that of Coachella’s, but in a lesser way. It’s much smaller than Coachella and features more punk rock and less dance music than the Indio festival. The crowd and atmosphere at FYF Fest is slowly becoming more like Coachella’s, but isn’t quite at the level of Coachella yet.

Im gonna break down this review into two main parts. The first part is the festival itself, which entails the organization, layout, stages and a run down of how the festival went including what Goldenvoice and FYF Fest did right and wrong. The second part is just about the most important part of a music festival; the music.

The Festival

The festival itself was extremely well put together and well run consistently throughout the entire weekend. I had been to FYF Fest in the past and they suffered from sound issues, long entry lines, bottlenecking between stages and several other issues. This year, however, FYF Fest somehow solved all of their past issues and put together a complete and cohesive festival with few issues.

To enter the festival, you had to go through a zig zag of barriers walking back and forth 19 times (trust me, I counted) to get to the security check. While walking back and forth in the heat isn’t ideal, the line was constantly moving with very little stoppage making it go quick. In addition, they handed out free waters and vitamin water in the line to keep people hydrated. Both security and wristband lines were terse and quick making festival entry extremely easy and hassle free.

The layout of the festival itself is really nice and it is surprisingly easy to get from one stage to another. All six stages were positioned around the Coliseum so there was a clear walkway all the way around the Coliseum making it extremely easy and simple to get to each stage. The stages were far enough apart so there was no sound bleed, but not too far to make the walk unmanageable to get to quickly for the next set.

All six stages had their own unique vibe that perfectly fit the artists that were slated to perform on them. The Main Stage was a massive stage with adequate room including a massive beer garden towards the back that was always full for the main acts of the festival. The Lawn was the second biggest stage at the festival and sat with a giant open grassy field in front of it and featured all types of music from hip-hop to punk rock. The Trees was appropriately named due to the trees that went all the way back and throughout the field in front of the dome shaped stage. The Club, The Woods, and Outer Space were the smallest three stages and each of these stages found ways to stay packed all weekend long with amazing talent spanning several genres from techno to hip-hop to punk rock.

Some other random notes is that the water was reasonably priced at $2 each and the beer gardens around the festival were not too chaotic at most times, so getting drinks was easy, unless it was during a high profile set. The festival offered a wide variety of food ranging from basic options like pizza and burgers to more ethnic ones like Mediterranean, dumplings, ramen, pho and many others. Lastly, one of the greatest perks of going to FYF Fest is walking out of the festival and having the metro line right there to get everybody home safe.

The Music

The highlight of FYF Fest was without a doubt the wide array of music they offered across their six stages. There was always talent going on no matter what time it was and what stage you were at because thats how stacked this lineup was.

Day 1 had a slew of talent all across the board with some amazing artists performing including Anderson .Paak, comedian Hannibal Buress and several others. One of the highlights of the day was Flying Lotus and his brand new 3D visual set that he premiered at the festival. FlyLo stood atop his rocky podium with a massive smile the entire set as the 3D visuals hovered above him on a massive screen where the images were projected. “Ya’ll look so cool with your 3D glasses on,” he yelled as a series of shapes, colors, portals and other crazy 3D images shot out above him.

One of the disappoints of the first day was headliner, Missy Elliot. The crowd felt very mixed during her set with some loving it and some leaving with the feeling of wanting more. She announced that this was her first show in the states in 10 years, and that became clear very fast. While the crowd went absolutely crazy when she played her hits, they seemed bored and uninterested during the rest of the set. At one point in the set, she showed an old interview she did on the screen and then left the stage with the hype man performing songs for a good 5-10 minutes.

Day 2 featured some amazing performance, but none better than what Frank Ocean had to offer. Frank’s first U.S. performance in years was met with great reception as he played hits off his newest album, Blonde. Not only did Ocean sound flawless with his delivery, but he built a great rapport with the fans and offered some amazing cinematography to coincide with his set. Half the time, the screen showed Ocean performing on stage with an incredibly high definition camera looking as if it was part of a movie, with the other half being filmed as if it was on a 90’s camcorder. Overall, Frank Ocean had one of the most well-received sets of the weekend and it was well deserved.

MGMT was a surprising disappointment at the festival. The group have been on a hiatus for quite some time and while the crowd was very into the set during their hits like “Kids” and “Electric Feel,” the set felt dull with fans feeling uninterested during the less popular songs. In addition, the vocals for lead singer Andrew VanWyngarden, were too loud making the overall set sound worse than it could have been with the proper sound.

Other highlights of day 2 include Nicolas Jaar playing an impressive live set on the Trees stage to an unsurprisingly large crowd. A Tribe Called Quest had the whole crowd singing along to their classic hits and announced that this would be their last LA show ever.

The highlight of the third and final day of FYF Fest has to go to UK performer, Mura Masa. Mura Masa had a daytime set where he performed some of his classic songs alongside several of his new songs off his debut self titled album that just came out. Mura Masa even brought out hip-hop artist Desiigner to sing their collaboration, “All Around The World,” before transitioning into his hit track, “Lotus Eater.” Overall, Mura Masa had the audience dancing and singing along the whole set making it one to remember.

Another highlight to day 3 was a surprise b2b set with The Black Madonna and Tiga in Outer Space. Tiga was slated for a set later that night in the Woods, but came out a bit early to play some groovy techno at the Outer Space stage. Smoke machines shot fog out into the crowd as attendees danced to the sounds of techno all over the hardwood floors of Outer Space.

Overall, FYF Fest 2017 was a well organized festival with nonstop musical talent across six stages for three days straight in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. It features a uniquely eclectic lineup and offers a great overall experience at a near-perfect location. I will undoubtedly be returning to FYF Fest next year and likely many years following as long as they continue to offer amazing diverse lineups and the incredible festival experience.

Originally kicking off as an indie festival with the later 2010 addition of the Zone Piknik Electronik stage, this lineup now blends pop, alternative and electronic artists together.

With The Weeknd, Muse and Lorde as headliners, you know they are going to put on a great performance. However, it’s the meat in the middle that electronic lovers are getting excited about. Nicolas Jaar, Snails, Griz and Mija will perform, just to name just a few. On top of six stages of music, Osheagea also offers activities ranging from skating on a half pipe to competitive games, carnival rides and even a massage area. With so much to do and so many artists to see over the three days, Osheaga continues to impress Quebec’s music lovers.

You can take a look at the full lineup below and buy tickets online now.

Nicolas Jaar – Sirens LP

Nicolas Jaar is more than just a mastermind when it comes to the sonically produced offerings. Following the announcement of his new online radio station, The Network, a mysterious listening platform that Jaar has stated “I will let you guys discover what this is on your own” and the news of his impending album Sirens, set to debut this Friday on Other People, he was gracious enough to let us stream the six-track LP ahead of the release date.

Being Nico Jaar’s “most topically cohesive and politically-minded record to date,” he holds true with a host of spacial and exotic vibes only this maestro could compile. Included in the stream is “Wildflower,” a bonus track not included on the original album. While not being able to skip around from track to track, the flow produced does not require this feature as seamless transitions occur at each end point.

As the physical Sirens release doesn’t drop until October 14th, pre-orders are being taken at this time though which gives plenty of the vinyl fiends time to salivate over the scratch-off cover, as well as an accompanying fall tour that Jaar will be embarking on. You can stream it here.

Sirens Tracklist:
01. Killing Time
02. The Governor
03. Leaves
04. No
05. Three Sides of Nazareth
06. History Lesson

Further Future, an event that happened this past weekend in the desert beyond Las Vegas—on the Moapa River Reservation, to be exact—has been scolded for, and scarred by, a number of top-tier publications as the “Burning Man for the 1%,” catered to a very specific audience of tech and business elite that need WiFi and air conditioning on their weekend endeavors and prefer “glamping” over camping.

I’d like to counter that argument.

As a fresh-out-of-college 22-year-old individual still scraping the bottom of the barrel to pay rent, I don’t fit into the 1%. I’m not anywhere near the 1%. Sure, I have my foot in the tech world living in San Francisco, but that does not put me anywhere near some of the attendees at this event (sure, there were plenty of tech elite there – but there were also plenty of “normal” individuals as well). From an outsider’s perspective, you could say that it was marketed towards the 1%. With a pricey ticket fee of roughly $350 (depending on which tier you were able to secure), along with extra costs for amenities ($40 for a shuttle pass that no one ever actually checked, $100 for a “sold out” self-camping pass, and extravagant other amenities so far out of my price range I didn’t even care to dig into them), it added up pretty quickly. Though, keep in mind – a ticket to Coachella, Ultra or EDC will cost you around the same thing.

Further Future is put on by Robot Heart, a well-known Burning Man collective filled with “doers and dreamers.” They have bases in New York and San Francisco among others, and are well-known and respected for the musical talent that they work with. Their bus, a massive school bus you’ll often see driving around the playa during the burn bumping the latest and greatest of tunes, has a massive metal heart placed on top of it that you can climb and dance on. The bus’s sound system is unreal – I have to wear earplugs if I’m anywhere near it. I’ve experienced nothing but good vibes from these guys, so when I was first introduced to this festival, I couldn’t stop myself from seeing what the hype was all about.

The Robot Heart bus stage on Friday night.

With three stages of music, numerous spots for wellness, tech and science talks, yoga and meditation, a spa, food trucks galore, it seemed like a well-planned boutique festival expected to deliver. I, being the last-minute person I am, purchased my ticket and flights the night before, hopped on a plane to Vegas, and caught the shuttle to the desert Friday night. Though I walked down that initial dirt path with no expectations, I was still caught in some sort of awe.

Yes, this event had a number of attendees that could qualify as the 1%. Yes, Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Alphabet (hello, Google), was there, along with Stan Chudnovsky, head of product at Facebook Messenger, and Bob Pittman, the founder of MTV. People spent unfathomable amounts of money on extravagant costumes and helicoptered in and out of the event. There was an aura of wealth in the air at all times. Granted, I felt a bit out of place at first – but that feeling did not last long.

I argue this point for one main reason in particular: this may be a place for the 1%, but, more than anything, this is a place for people with an open mind. I find that EDM is an ongoing, trending umbrella of musical genres that is attracting business and tech elites by the masses on a scale that no other genre has successfully done. Sure, all of these individuals did the same thing at Further Future, spending loads on glamping and air conditioning and all that jazz, but unlike other festivals, there was no VIP section. There was no area “off limits” to various ticket tiers. Instead, everyone intermingled. You met people from all walks of life, where the rich and famous held conversations with the average joes wandering the grounds. Borders were non-existent. Intellectual creativity and passion brought people together, not money. The “rich and famous” façades were able to disappear momentarily, and everyone was just able to prove that they were passionate and they worked hard for what they loved. I was able to walk away from this weekend with an entirely new perspective based on the conversations I was able to have, the sets I stumbled upon and tuned into at various points throughout the day or night, the art I was able to interact with and the talks, tech and scientific discoveries and ideas that were shown to me.

The ideas presented at Further Future aren’t forced down your throat, they are offered to you to absorb and consider. I can say, without a doubt, just about every single person I spoke to brought a new perspective to think about. Every individual I interacted with had some kind of dream, some kind of vision, some kind of passion; and, beyond that, they had acted (or were in the process of acting) on it. They weren’t just thinkers; they were doers. I met VCs, founders and CEOs of tech startups, music-makers, writers, software engineers, and many more. I was continually astounded by the crowd I was surrounded by. These people knew what they wanted and they had fought for it. At one point, when the skies decided to open up and shower us all with a bit of a torrential downpour, I found myself dancing and conversing under the only covered stage, having intellectually stimulating conversations about the way the festival itself was working. I can honestly say that I’ve never been to a festival that presented such an ongoing exchange of knowledge; there was never an empty conversation throughout the entire weekend.

Sunset at the Mothership stage (via @furtherfuture on Instagram)

As one of the youngest attendees, I found myself constantly learning and discovering new paths of thought, figuring out and truly grasping so many types of perspectives and outlooks. I met a man with Asperger’s who sat with me and had a long conversation about the dynamics of the social rules around the dinner table: how we, as adults, understood the necessary mannerisms and social conduct rules we had to follow at the dinner table, but children see it in a completely different light – for example, his son saw dinner as a time to fight the aliens that were taking over his mashed potatoes. I sat for a half hour with another man who was passionate about photography and started his own startup – Priime – as a way of creating a network of tools for individuals that shared the same passion. The smallest of conversations as simple as these opened so many ways of thought I rarely had the chance to think about prior. I’ve never been so thankful for such an intriguing learning experience.

That being said, it’s interesting to have such a new type of boutique festival exist in a scene already so crowded by music festivals and events like Coachella, Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle or Northern Nights. I respect Further Future for taking such a large task on of trying to disrupt the space with a weekend that offers an entirely new outlook on how festivals should be addressed and what they should offer. These conversations, these experiences, these mornings watching the sunrise with friends old and new are all things that will resonate with me into the future. Entering the weekend, I had expected just another music festival of sorts, but I was happily incorrect. Hats off to you there, Further Future.

Sunset on Sunday evening

While I can hardly speak a bad word about the experience at Further Future, one thing I was disappointed about was the lack of art present. Though the few pieces that did exist were stunning, there was potential for so much more. The paths between stages seemed almost barren besides a piece here or there; there could have been so much more that made those walks a bit more eye-catching.

I did, however, enjoy the cashless aspect of the weekend—another “futuristic” element that allowed you to use a credit card or your wristband to pay for goods. This made transactions more seamless and eliminating the hassle of carrying cash was a load off our backs. The drinks were pricey, as any festival’s typically are, but they were always tasty and refreshing. Having them in pre-made mixes made lines move quickly as well.

Nicolas Jaar’s set at the Mothership stage.

For a first-timer who walked in with minimal expectations and no plans, it was much more exploring and a lot less of a structured schedule. I could wander from stage to stage and see artists I had hoped to stumble upon and enjoy. Nicolas Jaar and Four Tet both played sets that absolutely blew me away. Leftfield, whom I had never listened to before was mind-boggling. Caribou played a live set through the rain Friday night shortly after I arrived that was magical. The music constantly wowed me. Even the tech and science talks I walked into were unreal; in particular, Hansen Robotics‘ introduction of their new AI robot called Sophia, creeped me out in so many ways that I’m still unclear if this was good or bad. The mindfulness talk I saw on Saturday morning was eye-opening; though I’m unsure who exactly it was, it was nice to hear someone set the idea of how the human race should come together to guarantee our future and save our planet. Finally, natural phenomenon always boost the festival experience; the sunrise on Sunday morning, backed by the tunes of Lee Burridge, was beautiful.

For anyone looking for an adventure, musically, physically, and intellectually, I highly recommend giving Further Future a shot. The desert is calling…

Award-winning boutique festival, Further Future is returning for its second year to the desert beyond Las Vegas from April 29 to May 01, 2016 to combine a stunning natural landscape with a wide range of international acts in quite a boundary bending, imagination-filled fashion. Founded by the forward-thinking minds behind Robot Heart, Further Future is dedicated to creating an uninhibited breeding ground, bursting at the seams with ideas that help promote, grow, rebuild, inspire and shape our future. The event aspires to bring creative minds from around the globe together in unison to bring life to its vivacious and bold space and allow music, science, technology, art, and innovation to meld and thrive throughout the festival’s grounds.

The festival’s Phase 1 lineup announcement challenged convention by boasting an array of timeless acts, from instrumental hip-hop to downtempo dub, groove-laden house beats to minimal techno, chillwave to disco, and ethereal vocals to acoustic medleys like Chicago native Derrick Carter, UK bass-crusher Dixon, Oneohtrix Point Never, The Pharcyde, &ME, Daedelus, Birds of Passage, Voices From The Lake, and Jam City. Phase 2 builds on its already monumental musical roster with the addition of revered acts like Nicolas Jaar, DJ Tennis, genre-bending savant Four Tet, a rare performance from celebrated reggae troupe Easy Star All-Stars, turntable wizard Kid Koala, Crazy P, For Romeau, Andy Stott, Terry Francis, Tropic of Cancer, Jon Wander, Low Leaf, Papercutz and many more.

Further Future promises to keep the diverse and highly curated selection of talent going with the final Phase 3 music lineup announcement arriving in December. The second installment of this avant-garde desert celebration seeks to transcend the common festival experience with its unorthodox spectrum of genres along with an equally diverse selection of workshops, wellness sessions, and speakers, including renowned thought leaders from the fields of tech, science, business and more.
This year marked the 10th anniversary of Northern California’s widely popular Symbiosis Gathering, which took place from September 17th through the 20th on the beautiful Woodward Reservoire in Oakdale, CA. Symbiosis’s fantastic decennial cycle brought veterans and newcomers to the festival together for a weekend packed with unprecedented majesty, music, art, performances, creativity and lightheartedness. The weekend’s celebration carried with it an underlying theme of playful togetherness that radiated from day to night in the festival’s gorgeous lakeside surroundings. The undeniable spiritually enriching undertones of Symbiosis wove itself in vibrantly throughout the festival’s environment on a physical, emotional, and social level for all of this year’s participants.

For the second year in a row, Symbiosis Gathering took place on a peninsula surrounded on all sides by a lake, which gave attendees a much needed swimming reservoir during the day that was full of elaborate art boats and art floats. The lake also provided festivalgoers with uniquely incredible shoreline camping and lakeside dance floors. On top of its stunning natural surroundings, this year’s celebration was packed with a wide range of musical acts, incredibly intricate and one-of-a kind artistic installations, dynamic speakers, interactive areas, live art, participatory entertainment, and charismatic workshop presenters.

Festivalgoers were treated to top notch electronic acts like Tipper, Nicolas Jaar, GRiZ, Shpongle, Justin Martin, Emancipator Ensemble, Four Tet, a b2b set between Minnesota and G Jones, Truth, and Thriftworks. Talks and presentations offered attendees education opportunities in a variety of topics: from astrology, democracy, chocolate, and sustainable design, to slam poetry, “Yoga Of Bass” and nutrition; all of which aimed to foster a fellowship of intelligent, creative, and lively interactions. The high-art entertainment troupe, Lucent Dossier Experience, the all-star fire ritual performers, Pyronauts, and a team of nine mermaids, called Iridescence: A Mermaid Tribe, were just a few of the eclectic performance acts to be featured this year. Last, but not least, Symbiosis housed an ‘Alchemy Village,’ which included top notch amenities for all bodily needs: a tea clinic, nourishment lab, permaculture action club, and wellness oasis. Symbiosis’s ten year reunion excelled in their mission to bring a large number of open minded individuals into one, like-minded place where they could experienced the freedom to unleash their unbounded, creative spirits.

After years of collaborative work as part of DARKSIDE, launching the record label and art house, Clown & Sunset, and the subscription based label Other People, re-scoring the soundtrack to the classic Russian film from 1969 ‘The Color Of Pomegranates’ in Feburary, and last month reworking the always wonderful Florence in the Machine’s “What Kind of Man“, Nicolas Jaar (Nico Jaar) is finally releasing his first 12-inch since 2011.

No particulars are known about Nymphs II other than that it was produced sometime in New York City from 2011 to 2015 and will see it’s release next month on Jaar’s label Other People on May 11.

At this time, there are no teasers or pre-released audio on the new productions except for the track listing but if his debut album Space is Only Noise back from 2011 is any indication of how prolific and moving this offering will be, it was totally worth the wait.

Tracklist:
A1 The Three Sides Of Audrey And Why She’s All Alone Now
B1 No One Is Looking At U
