The tracks from that original album that are on this remix EP are the album’s title track itself, ‘still my ecstasy’, ‘alone’, ‘sanctuary’, and ‘i don’t know what to say’. The title track had Leossa providing the remix duties for, whereas ‘still my ecstasy’ had OCULA remixing it, while ‘alone’ had L.GU. condcuting his own remix of it. Furthermore, Matt Fax put his own twist to ‘sanctuary’ and GVN providing his unique touch to ‘i don’t know what to say’. These outstanding remixes definitely provided one-of-a-kind renditions of the notable tracks from who are you really? and they definitely are tracks that fans can really enjoy listening as this summer comes to a close.

The Venue & Support

The show took place at Noir, tucked inside Rebel, and it honestly felt like the room was made for a 360° experience like this. It had the space to move, to breathe, but still held onto this intimacy that pulled you in. It created the perfect setting for Le Youth – not just to play, but to really connect. There wasn’t a clear line between him and the crowd. At times, as he was right there with us, moving through the same emotions, sharing the same moments.

If you don’t know, Le Youth opened up spots for fans and DJs to apply for this tour, which says a lot about the community he’s building. All it took was a 30‑minute SoundCloud mix. For Toronto, he chose Matt Dylan, a local name, and it couldn’t have felt more right. The sense of community was there from the start. R8YZ, another Toronto standout known for his melodic sound, opened the night and set the tone perfectly. His style sits naturally within the This Never Happened world and flowed seamlessly into what followed. Matt Dylan carried that energy forward with a thoughtful mix of his own IDs and carefully selected tracks that felt emotional and intentional.

By the time Wes stepped on, the room wasn’t just warmed up – it was fully locked in. R8YZ later returned to close the night, bringing everything full circle in a way that just made sense.

More Than a Set — A Moment That Stayed With Me

I had the chance to sit down with Wes before his set – we’ll get to that in a bit. But before I even talk about the music, I need to say this. He is, genuinely, one of the kindest souls I’ve come across. While I was waiting outside the green room, a group of guys came by. They had shared with him earlier that they lost a close friend last year – someone who loved Le Youth and was the reason they were all there that night. That stayed with him. He called them in, not just to meet him, but to spend the evening with him. Before the set, he took the time to really be present with them.

They shared stories about their friend, the kind that stay with you. He listened, asked questions, and made sure the night wasn’t about what they lost, but about who their friend was. At one point, they told him about a track their friend had hoped to hear the last time Le Youth played Toronto. And then, during the set, it happened. He brought them on stage and played ‘I Don’t Mind.’ You could feel the shift in the room – it wasn’t just a song anymore, it was a moment. Artists play shows. That’s expected. But this felt different. He didn’t just perform – he cared, and he made space for something real. It really blew my mind and made me just sit and admire him as an artist and a human.

A Set That Felt Alive in Every Moment

Le Youth played a full two-hour set on his 360° stage, and the whole time it felt like you were part of it, not just watching it. He moved through the room, locked in with the crowd, smiling, dancing, feeding off every single reaction. It never felt distant or staged. It felt human, and shared. I could sit here and list every track, but that’s not what stayed with me. It was the way he built the night. Early on, he brought in moments like ‘Hang On’ into Lane 8’s ‘Higher,’ and you could feel the room lift together. Later, he blended ‘Someone I Used To Know’ with ‘Capilano,’ by OCULA, and suddenly everything felt deeper, heavier, but still so melodic. It was one of those transitions where you just stop and take it in. As the set went on, things shifted.

There was a darker edge that slowly came through, and you could feel it in your chest. He moved through his catalogue so naturally, mixing newer who are you really? tracks with older ones like ‘Chills,’ ‘Waves.’ And that closing stretch… it stayed with me. The way he reworked ‘Waves’ and brought in Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’ – it didn’t feel like a mashup, it felt like a moment.

The entire night felt alive. People weren’t just dancing, they were singing, holding onto each other, fully in it. At times, it didn’t even feel like a crowd — it felt like one shared emotion moving through the room. Even now, I can’t really put it into words properly. It’s that kind of feeling you carry home with you, the kind that gives you goosebumps when you think back on it. It’s not just a set you listen to, it’s one you feel, and honestly, one you need to experience for yourself.

Sitting Down With Wes, Heart to Heart

Your new album Who Are You Really ? congratulations, we love it. It feels very introspective. What sparked the central question behind the project, and where were you personally when you started creating it?

It’s such a deep question. Kind of cool, right? It comes from a pretty introspective place. I’ve always been drawn to that – looking for something deeper, trying to make people think, because that’s what I connect with most as an artist. After doing this for so long, I’ve found myself chasing what really fulfills me now, more than I did at the start of my career. There are a million directions the album could have gone, but this is the one that stayed with me. It’s something I come back to all the time – those quiet moments, like standing in front of a mirror before going out and asking yourself, who are you really?

It’s a question I’ve asked myself more times than I can count, and honestly, it’s one that never really goes away. It keeps evolving. You can sit with it in a heavy, more melancholic way, or you can see it as something positive – something that pushes you to grow. For this album, I leaned into that more reflective, emotional side of it, but the truth is, it can mean something different to everyone.”

The album moves between vulnerability and high-energy club moments. How intentional was that contrast, and what does it say about who you are as an artist right now?

Yeah, that’s more of a question about the state of the scene right now and what’s happening within this style of music. As much as I’d love to say I’m not part of any one scene, I am undeniably a part of it. So I’m always trying to find that balance, you know, kind of threading the needle between staying true to myself and existing within it. If I could, I’d make all kinds of music that inspires me — and I think most people feel that way. We all love different sounds. But at the same time, there’s this expectation. It’s like, “Okay, it’s a melodic house night, this is what you’re going to hear.” I wish it could just be about enjoying music for what it is, without those boundaries, but this is the space we’re in, and I’m grateful to be part of it.

At the core, I’ve always seen myself as a songwriter first. Not just a DJ or a producer – a songwriter. That’s how I approach everything. I have a lot of music to pull from at any moment, and these were the songs that felt the most honest to me for this project. And to be real, a big part of the album and its concept came from an idea Angela (LeyeT) brought to me. She was the first one to ask that question, and it hit me how simple it was, but also how often it had already shown up in my life over the years.

You hosted the album release party at your own home, which feels very personal. Why was it important for you to celebrate this project in such an intimate space, and what did that night mean to you?

Yeah, I wouldn’t expect that every time. I just happen to live in a place where something like that is possible. I had been doing that two-month livestream, just keeping the camera on the whole time, and it felt natural to close it out with something real, in person. So we invited around 30 people I had never met before into my home. And honestly, they were incredible. So respectful, so kind. I actually made a few real connections that night. Thinking about it now, it probably showed a lot about who I am. My home has always been an open space, and if anything, it’s even more open to the people who connect with my music. I really love the people who listen and show up, that means everything to me.

How’s the tour been so far? What tracks have you liked performing? And has that changed your relationship with any of the music you’ve kind of made?

Yeah, it has. That’s a great question. The tour’s been amazing overall – definitely more ups than downs, which is all I really care about.

What I’ve noticed the most is how much deeper the connection with the music feels right now. I’m seeing more of that core fan base – people who really get it. The ones who come back every time, who recognize each other, who tell me, “I saw you last time, I’m here again.” It feels like there are fewer casual listeners in the room and more people who are truly invested. And that’s special to me. I’ll see people wearing merch from two, three, even four years ago, and it reminds me how long they’ve been on this journey with me. That kind of connection, that loyalty, it means everything. Like our friends here tonight, wearing the tee-shirt with the photo from the last Toronto show.

You’re now releasing new tracks that didn’t make it onto the album. What made these songs feel like they belonged outside the who are you really? album

Yeah, it’s going to be a deluxe version of the album, a bit of a bigger collection. There are about three more tracks, so one single and then two more to round it out. The whole process feels a little strange to me, to be honest. I come from a time where you just released the album as a whole. There wasn’t really this idea of rolling things out as singles the way we do now. Part of me still wishes I could just put everything out at once and let people experience it that way, but this is kind of the world we’re in now. It’s a different approach, but it’s been interesting to navigate.

Looking ahead, what excites you most about where your sound is going next— and what questions are you still asking yourself as an artist?

That’s a great question. The scene feels different now, you can sense it. It’s no longer the shiny new thing everyone is chasing, and honestly, that’s what makes it exciting again. When something settles, it leaves space for people to experiment, to take risks, and to push it forward in new ways. That shift is where I want to be. It’s where fresh ideas actually have room to grow. I’ve never been afraid to pivot when it feels right, and I think that mindset has always shaped what I do. Whether I make another big shift this time, I’m not completely sure yet – but that possibility is what keeps it interesting. I’m excited to see where it goes and to be part of whatever comes next. I can’t wait.

‘circus act’

Le Youth’s newest track follows through with similar feelings from his latest album. However, he mentioned on a social media post that he felt the track deserved to be kept separately from the LP. Deep tones and soft female vocals bring the track together, as the slow pacing and break-beat tempo encompass the structure of the song. ‘circus act’ is then a confrontation between trust and betrayal.

The lyrics heavily represent the inner conflict and the self-loathing of an individual facing the truth. The main character is dealing with the pain of believing the lies of a loved one. As much as the track continues with sad comparisons to this relationship dynamic and a circus show, the feelings are relatable and offer comfort to the listener.

‘circus act’ does not try to offer a solution to certain heartbreak, or tries to mask the pain one feels during said situation. Nonetheless, the comfort comes from confronting reality. You can remain in disbelief and sulk in silence, but the track inspires you to push through the pain with a realistic expectation.

Le Youth

The Ohio native does not shy away from vulnerability and intimacy. His latest release accompanied a 2-month series of YouTube/Instagram livestreams, where he teased tracks from who are you really?. Moreover, he finalized the series with an intimate launch party for his album from his very own apartment in Los Angeles.

An Album That Makes You Think Of Deeper Meaning

I sat down this weekend the same way I have for all of Wes’ studio albums. Coffee in hand. Quiet time. Letting the album play from start to finish. Every listen brought up something different. It makes you pause and sit with the bigger questions in life. Isn’t that what makes him the people’s DJ? He’s just one of us at the end of the day. Same emotions. Same feelings. So human. Curating an album isn’t easy, the flow of each of the tracks coming together and telling you a story with a deeper meaning. Le Youth does this with the help of his many collaborators with a deeper question to some sort of hope? I think with music as a listener and an artist, every so often the same pieces will hit at different emotions and tell you a different story. Evoke a feeling you didn’t realize it could.

Wes dropped five tracks ahead of the album: ‘alone,’ ‘blinded,’ ‘i don’t know what to say,’ ‘still my ecstasy,’ and ‘sanctuary’. Throughout February, he pulled fans into the rollout with Instagram Live streams alongside his collaborators, teasing unreleased music and keeping things interactive. The album release itself felt just as personal. Fans who stopped by Sam’s taco spot in Venice Beach, featured in the ‘home’ music video, could grab food, ask about Le Youth, and receive a ticket. It was first come, first serve. The night before release, Wes invited 30 of those fans into his home for a private album listen. LeyeT opened the night, playing her first-ever DJ set. The Venice Beach gathering also streamed live on Instagram and YouTube. Such a thoughtful, community-driven release. I really wish I was in LA for this one.

who are you really? – 14 Tracks of Self Reflection

The 14‑track album runs just over 58 minutes and finds Le Youth reconnecting with the core of what makes his sound resonate so deeply. It opens with the title track, ‘who are you really,’ led by the haunting vocals of LeyeT. She’s no stranger to TNH or longtime Le Youth fans and appears on two tracks across the album. It’s a powerful way to begin the journey. The line, “who are you really when everything fades?” immediately sets the tone. The tempo stays mellow, but the question lingers. It makes you pause and reflect, while LeyeT’s vocals still carry a sense of hope.

The first few tracks ease you into this world (atmospheric, introspective, and melodic), setting up the album’s core themes of self‑reflection, identity, and uncertainty. By tracks three and four, it feels like the protagonist is searching for something safe and grounding. The next stretch shifts gears, exploring changes in relationships through more progressive house grooves and stronger beats. That energy carries into what feels like the emotional low point of the story with ‘i am breaking down’ and ‘so deep.’ From there, the arc begins to rise. The following tracks lean into honesty and realization, followed by moments that feel like rebuilding trust and finding clarity again. The closing tracks, ‘home’ and ‘me and you (outro),’ bring everything full circle, landing on themes of belonging and quiet resolution

My choice – 2 favourite tracks

‘to be honest’ feels different from anything Le Youth has released before. It strips everything back, both emotionally and sonically, and leans fully into vulnerability instead of buildup. Ellee Duke’s vocals are soft but heavy with feeling, carrying the track without ever forcing it. There’s a quiet honesty that really stands out. It doesn’t chase a drop or a moment. It just sits with the emotion. For me, this track feels like a turning point in the album—not because it delivers an answer, but because it feels like you’re getting closer to one, or learning to be content with the feeling itself.

‘me and you (outro)’ is another favourite for me because it feels like a real ending. It slows everything down even further. The downtempo 4/4 rhythm feels like steady breathing, giving you space to sit with the album. What really stands out is the spoken‑word moments woven throughout the track—questions about who you really are, spoken directly to Le Youth by someone who feels deeply close to him. It sounds intimate, almost like a private conversation you’re invited into. Instead of answering the question outright, the outro leaves you with a sense of connection and acceptance. It brings the album full circle, closing the journey on identity and belonging in a way that feels honest, human, and complete.

Le Youth – who are you really? tour

Le Youth is bringing who are you really? to the stage with a tour that moves through North America, Europe, and Australia. Instead of keeping it at arm’s length, Wes made the tour feel like an extension of the album itself. He opened up submissions for DJs to be part of the shows, inviting artists to send in mixes for a chance to play alongside him. It feels intentional and very on‑brand for this era of Le Youth—building community, sharing space, and giving others a platform. The tour doesn’t just showcase the album live. EDMTunes: What’s up guys?! This is Scott with EDMTunes and I’m here on the Wonder of the Seas for Groove Cruise 2026, Day 2 with Le Youth. How does it feel to be here?

Le Youth: It feels amazing! We have nice weather, in the middle of January!

EDMTunes: Absolutely. So, you just told me that this is your third Groove Cruise, which I was surprised to learn. So tell me about your previous experiences.

Le Youth: Yeah, played in 2015, then I think 2016—although I could be wrong.,nd then yeah, just didn’t play it again for I guess ten years. But in that time, did a lot of other festivals on cruise ships. So did EDSea, and did, um, one called “It’s The Ship” in Asia. So it’s nice to be back.

EDMTunes: And this kind of event goes so well with your music and your performance style. I know that during your shows you like to go into the crowd and kind of mix it up with people, take pictures, give hugs, and show love. Do you feel a comparison to the scene here where all of the artists are hanging out and chatting it up with everybody?

Le Youth: Yeah, that’s interesting. I haven’t thought about… I haven’t gotten that deep into it yet. Usually, I kind of feel it out when I start playing and I say, “Is this the kind of crowd that’s going to be receptive to me jumping out and dancing with them?” Every once in a while, they’re not. Um, but yeah, it’s a good point. I imagine this crowd is going to be very into that.

EDMTunes: You’re absolutely not going to have to worry about that.

Le Youth: Yeah.

EDMTunes: So, talking about your music…you really base a lot of your tracks on emotions… love, heartbreak, longing. Can you tell me a little bit about how you are inspired to write your musics? Was it all from any of your own experiences or…?

Le Youth: Yeah, I mean everything kind of flows from my own experiences. I was in a band for a long time—I’m also a songwriter—and, um, I don’t know, I guess that’s where I pull a lot of inspiration from. It’s those feelings of kind of longing and, yeah. I’ve just always operated from that… from that perspective in my style of writing. And, um, maybe it’s time to switch it up. I don’t know.

EDMTunes: No, I love it. It works.

Le Youth: I’ve been doing it for so long. [Laughs].

EDMTunes: Um, do you also get inspiration from scenery? Like we’re here out in the ocean and it’s this serene place, or is it more just from within you?

Le Youth: It’s definitely internal. I don’t know, I’ve always been jealous of people who can pull inspiration from things like, um, like a sunset or, um, you know, a cruise ship. I’m not really that good of a songwriter. I kind of… I have to pull from my own experiences.

EDMTunes: Okay, very interesting. And speaking of which, you have a new album coming out in March, and you teased that there’s going to be previews coming out soon. Are we going to get a little teaser of that tonight?

Le Youth: Yeah, so there’s a few songs already out. The album is called Who Are You Really?. And it’s kind of this introspective look at my own life, but also kind of opens the door so other people can look at their own life too. So at this point, there’s three tracks already out—maybe four? And, um, planning on playing a couple of other new ones and then obviously the ones that are already out.

EDMTunes: Amazing. And so this is your first set of the voyage tonight. Tell us what you have planned for the rest of Groove Cruise.

Le Youth: Oh man. [Laughs] So my parents are joining me on this Groove Cruise, which is amazing. So I’m kind of at their mercy. I think tomorrow when we get to the island, we’re going to do some excursions. The kinds of things that I wouldn’t normally do.

EDMTunes: Like swim with the pigs?

Le Youth: Yeah, we actually did that a couple of years ago on the EDSea one. So maybe we’ll do something different this time. But, yeah, I don’t know exactly. Cassian is playing later, I’m going to try to catch some of that. Um, Angrybaby—I think he has another set. I want to catch that too.

EDMTunes: Is that the casino one maybe, with Jigitz?

Le Youth: Yeah, I think so.

EDMTunes: That would be good.

Le Youth: But yeah planning to just enjoy myself. And you know it’s funny, when I first got here I had a balcony, which I was really excited about. And the balcony was one of the ones facing inwards.

EDMTunes: Oh okay. so the Boardwalk.

Le Youth: And it was like the main stage was right there too. It wasn’t too loud, it was just like… wasn’t the experience I was hoping for, which was to watch the ocean. And so I kinda complained a little bit, and then I got my cabin facing the ocean. So that was one of the perks.

EDMTunes: Awesome. And you have one more set this weekend, right?

Le Youth: Yeah, that’s right.

EDMTunes Is it going to be different than the one you’re going to play tonight?

Le Youth: They’re always different. I’ve never been the kind of DJ that plays the same sets. I play the same songs, obviously, um, but I kind of feel it out. And it always ends up being something different.

EDMTunes: So take us through the rest of 2026. You have this album coming, but what else are you looking forward to this year?

Le Youth: I’m actually fully wrapped up in this album. So the album tour starts in March. We just announced the first part of that, and that’s like, I don’t know, 15 or so cities across the world. And then there’s going to be a Part 2. And that should take me into the end of the year. So I’ll be on tour from March until, uh, hopefully December. You can look for Miami on Part 2 ;).
