Insomniac currently leases the building, and the county has been working with the EDC promoter to turn it into a live music and special events venue, according to the agency’s staff report. The $10 million is set aside for a future property purchase and building rehabilitation, and it will be paid out once the board approves a formal agreement with Insomniac. Some nearby residents spoke against the plan at the meeting. At this point we don’t know exactly what’s planned but we expect to learn more soon.

A big year in Vegas

The vote follows a busy year for Insomniac in Clark County. In March, commissioners approved the first-ever World Party Parade, which rolled along the Las Vegas Strip on May 14, the night before EDC’s 30th anniversary edition. Days after the festival, Insomniac announced that EDC Las Vegas is expanding to two weekends in 2027, with EDC Dusk running May 14 to 16 and EDC Dawn running May 21 to 23.

Plans for the Liberace Avenue venue

An investment outline included in county records from May lays out the early plan. It describes a main warehouse floor for 18+ live music with a capacity of roughly 5,000, plus a separate 21+ upstairs lounge. It also lists larger outdoor events in the neighboring county-owned parking lot as a priority. The outline notes the layout is subject to change, and no opening date has been announced.

The next step is a formal agreement between Insomniac and the county, which the board has to approve before any of the $10 million is paid out. The venue doesn’t have a name or an opening date yet. In the meantime, EDC Las Vegas returns for its first two-weekend run with EDC Dusk on May 14, 2027.

Executive Vice President David Granville-Smith said the in-house development team can take on another two to four projects over the coming year and a half.

Where The Spheres Would Go

Currently there is one venue in Las Vegas and two announced projects.

Construction is underway on Sphere Abu Dhabi, on Yas Island, with a capacity of up to 20,000 and completion expected by the end of 2029. Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism is funding it with a $1.7 billion investment and will own the building, with Sphere Entertainment collecting franchise fees and royalties.

The second is a 6,000 capacity venue at National Harbor outside Washington, D.C., structured differently: a third party funds and owns construction while Sphere holds a long-term lease and runs the venue. Dolan said that financing should close shortly, on top of $200 million in state, local and private incentives, and that the site plan has been filed with Prince George’s County. He still expects it open in under four years.

No third location has been named. Dolan said the company is in serious talks with a couple of markets and expects another announcement by the end of 2026, or the first quarter of 2027 at the latest.

Losses Are Shrinking In Las Vegas

Sphere Entertainment reported $313.6 million in second quarter revenue, up 11% year over year, and a total operating loss that widened 22% to $61.3 million.

That widening came from the other half of the company. MSG Networks, its regional sports television unit, saw revenue fall to $87.3 million from $107.1 million on a roughly 16.5% subscriber decline, and operating income drop 75% to $8.3 million.

The pairing is a leftover from how the company was built. Sphere Entertainment is the former Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp., renamed in April 2023 when the arena business, including Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall, was split into a separate company that kept the MSGE name. Sphere Entertainment held onto the Las Vegas venue, Sphere Studios and MSG Networks. The Dolan family controls both, and Dolan chairs both.

Las Vegas moved the opposite way. The Sphere segment generated $226.4 million, up nearly 30%, and narrowed its own operating loss 17% to $69.6 million. Adjusted operating income rose to $39.9 million from $24.9 million. The venue still posts a loss on a reported basis, largely because of the depreciation on a $2.3 billion building, but that gap has been progressively closing.

Most of the revenue comes from The Wizard of Oz at Sphere, which opened August 28, 2025 and has sold nearly 3.6 million tickets for approximately $450 million across 220 performances in the quarter alone. An enhanced version arrives in September and The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Sphere is expected in 2027.

Three EDM Runs Have Happened

Electronic music has headlined the venue three times. Anyma went first with The End of Genesys, the venue’s first electronic residency, running 12 shows between late December 2024 and early March 2025 after his opening nights sold out. Insomniac and Tomorrowland followed with UNITY across nine nights, the first festival branded production made for the room rather than a single artist. ILLENIUM ran ODYSSEY from March 5 to 14 and April 2 to 4 before closing with two July dates, built around an album written alongside the show. That’s surely not all, as Tomorrowland previewed a return to Las Vegas during this Summer’s festival. Sources indicate it will be yet another Sphere residency of some kind.

Sphere builds content to move between venues, and every location runs the same tech stack. If the count reaches five, a production built for Las Vegas has four more rooms to play.

Positioned near the DreamVille entrance, the display reads “Tomorrowland Uniting the World in 2027” before listing six destinations: France, Las Vegas, Brazil, Ibiza, Belgium, and Thailand.

The banner greeted thousands of campers as they checked into DreamVille ahead of The Gathering, Tomorrowland’s exclusive opening celebration for DreamVille guests. While many stopped to snap photos, others immediately started trying to decode what the list could mean.

At first glance, the destinations appear random. However, many fans noticed they closely match Tomorrowland’s 2027 calendar in chronological order.

France comes first with Tomorrowland Winter, scheduled for March 20–27 in Alpe d’Huez. Las Vegas appears next on the banner before Tomorrowland Brasil, which returns April 30–May 2. Ibiza follows with Tomorrowland’s annual residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza during the summer months. Belgium comes next with the flagship Tomorrowland festival before Thailand rounds out the list later in the year.

One destination immediately stands out.

Unlike every other location, Tomorrowland has not announced a Las Vegas event for 2027 or any time yet, for that matter.

Why Fans Are Looking at EDC Las Vegas

That placement has sparked plenty of speculation among fans. Because the banner appears to follow the 2027 calendar, many believe Las Vegas could represent an event scheduled between Tomorrowland Winter and Tomorrowland Brasil.

Interestingly, that window lines up with EDC Las Vegas 2027. Next year’s edition will expand into two festival weekends, with EDC Dusk taking place May 14–16 and EDC Dawn following May 21–23. The new “Dusk Till Dawn” format will also include a 12-day citywide experience between festival weekends. Since we know Tomorrowland and Insomniac have a burgeoning partnership, it would not surprise us to learn that Tomorrowland was consulted by Insomniac in its move to expand to two weekends.

A Tomorrowland Takeover?

Some attendees at DreamVille have already begun connecting the dots. While Tomorrowland hasn’t explained the Las Vegas teaser yet, festivalgoers have started speculating that it could hint at a collaboration with Insomniac during EDC Las Vegas.

Another possibility has also emerged among fans. Rather than announcing a standalone Tomorrowland event, the teaser could point to a Tomorrowland-curated experience during EDC week. Some options include a full-scale Tomorrowland stage coming to EDC Vegas, an EDC stage curated by one of Tomorrowland’s stage brands (CORE, Atmosphere), or appearances from artists closely associated with the festival, such as Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Alok, Lost Frequencies, or Steve Aoki in the form of Tomorrowland Presents.

It’s worth mentioning that Insomniac’s Bass Rush brand is hosting a stage takeover at Tomorrowland during Weekend 2 next week. Repaying the kindness seems logical, but is that a big enough event to be worthy of such a teaser?

The theory isn’t without precedent. In 2025, Tomorrowland partnered with Insomniac to present UNITY at Sphere Las Vegas. The audiovisual experience brought together both festival brands across multiple weekends and became one of the year’s biggest dance music events. However, we don’t think that this will be a rehash of the Sphere residency, unless it’s a takeover during EDC Week. Our sources are actually indicating that the Sphere is the most likely outcome here, but we don’t know anything beyond that.

For now, Tomorrowland has offered no explanation for the Las Vegas stop on the banner. Until an official announcement arrives, fans can only speculate about what comes next. Whether it leads to another Sphere experience, a Tomorrowland presence at EDC Las Vegas, or something entirely different, one thing is already clear: the mystery has become one of DreamVille’s biggest talking points before Tomorrowland 2026 has even reached its first festival day.

How The Program Works

Newly 21-year-olds can register through the official Visit Las Vegas website to receive complimentary admission for themselves and up to four guests at participating nightlife venues.

In a message shared across social media, the festival thanked its loyal Headliners while confirming that only limited passes remain for the Dusk Weekend experience.

EDC Las Vegas is sadly not immune to these issues; the National Weather Service issued a strong wind warning for Las Vegas Motor Speedway, expecting 20-30mph winds and peak speeds surpassing highs of 60mph on Sunday, May 17. Specifically, the weather alert is for 2pm – 5am, encompassing the entire final day of the festival, potentially impacting stages, other temporary structures and entry/exit experiences. Strong winds are also likely to adversely affect Sunday’s post-EDC road conditions, kicking up dust and rattling larger vehicles.

Reassuringly, wind struggles are not new to EDC Las Vegas. Audiences can rest easy knowing Insomniac will continue working closely with local agencies and taking necessary precautions to ensure festival-goer safety with minimal disruption to the experience. While previous editions suffered from temporary stage shut-downs or reduced production, the festival did not need to close early since 2012, and is not expected to this year. The inaugural World Party Parade will take place Thursday, May 14 at 6 PM PT, turning the Las Vegas Strip into a massive moving dance floor filled with music, art, and performers.
