If you’re already planning your New Year’s festival schedule, PROPER NYE/NYD just gave you another reason to head to San Diego.

FNGRS CRSSD has revealed the Phase One lineup for PROPER NYE/NYD 2026, returning to Petco Park on December 31 and January 1. Since launching in 2022, the festival has become a favorite for fans looking for a more curated New Year’s experience. This year’s lineup might be its strongest yet.

NYE/NYD Lineup

One of the biggest highlights comes from a special b3b featuring Cloonee, KETTAMA, and Josh Baker. All three artists will also perform solo sets throughout the weekend. Expect this one to be a crowd magnet. Techno fans have plenty to get excited about as well. Sara Landry leads the charge alongside I Hate Models, Klangkuenstler, Nico Moreno, and Eli Brown. The lineup definitely leans heavier than previous editions, bringing more hard-hitting sounds to the forefront.

House music remains at the heart of PROPER. Green Velvet, Chris Lorenzo, Cassian, Odd Mob, Ben Sterling, Beltran, SOSA, Westend, OMNOM, and SIDEPIECE are all set to take over dance floors across the two-day event. Murda Beatz also appears on the bill, adding an unexpected crossover booking to the mix. My favourite as always is Lane 8’s This Never Happened Takeover. He is bringing along label favourites Massane, Qrion, Robby East and Otherwish.

Part of what makes PROPER special is the setting itself. Few New Year’s events can match dancing beneath the San Diego skyline at Petco Park. The open-air venue has become a signature part of the experience and continues to help the festival stand out from the crowded holiday calendar. With additional artists still to be announced, Phase One already delivers a strong mix of house, techno, melodic sounds, and underground talent. If this first reveal is any indication, PROPER looks ready to close out 2026 in style.

Whether you’re chasing sunrise sets, hard techno, or melodic house, PROPER has something for every dance music fan. Add in San Diego’s perfect winter weather and the iconic Petco Park setting, and it’s easy to see why this event has become a New Year’s tradition. Alumni presale begins September 8 at 12 PM PT. The community presale follows on September 9 at 12 PM PT, with general on-sale beginning later that day at 2 PM PT.
Is this real? Is Daniel about to turn his seasonal mixtapes into live premieres? The moment I saw “San Francisco, I’m making you a new mixtape September 20 at the Castro Theatre,” I got chills. Judging by the reaction online, I’m definitely not alone.

For over a decade, Lane 8 fans have welcomed every new season with a fresh mixtape. It’s become a tradition, a soundtrack to our lives, and something many of us look forward to every few months. If you’re new to the Lane 8 universe, do yourself a favor and spend some time with the mixtape series. You’ll quickly see why the idea of experiencing one live feels so special.

TNH 10

It’s been a huge year for Daniel. This Never Happened celebrated its 10-year anniversary with Summer Gathering in the UK before bringing the celebrations to North America. Alongside that, he introduced Cross Pollination 2, an evolution of the collaborative spirit behind the album of the same name. Just as the record brought together artists from across the melodic house and progressive spectrum, the live experience placed that collaboration front and center through a series of B2B sets. Fans first experienced the concept in true This Never Happened fashion in Colorado and most recently in San Diego, where the focus wasn’t on individual headliners but on artists creating something unique together in the moment.

The celebrations are far from over. Daniel will take the TNH 10 festivities to Amsterdam during ADE, giving European fans their chance to celebrate a decade of This Never Happened. Before then, Cross Pollination 2 heads to New York next month for what appears to be the final stop of the series. Between celebrating ten years of TNH, bringing fans together through the collaborative energy of Cross Pollination 2, and continuing to push the label forward, Daniel has spent the last year reminding us why this community remains one of the most special in dance music.

I Made You A Mixtape

I won’t lie, I was genuinely gutted that I couldn’t make it to the first I Made You A Mixtape show in Colorado back in June. From everything I’ve heard, it was one of those rare This Never Happened nights that people will be talking about for years. The kind of event that becomes part of label lore. No recordings, no endless social media clips, just a room full of people sharing a moment that existed only for those lucky enough to be there. That’s why seeing Daniel announce a second I Made You A Mixtape show hit me right in the feels. For those of us who missed Colorado, this feels like a second chance.

So thank you, Daniel, for giving us another opportunity to be part of it.

Decadence Colorado has revealed the official lineup for its 2026 New Year’s Eve celebration, returning December 30 & 31 to the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver for two nights of electronic music, immersive production, and one of the largest and most celebrated indoor New Year’s Eve dance music experiences in the country.

Produced by Global Dance and AEG Presents Rocky Mountains, the 2026 edition brings together an expansive cross-section of electronic music, spanning house, bass, techno, melodic, and festival-scale sounds. The lineup features Alesso, Alleycvt, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Crankdat, Daniel Allan, Deathpact, DJ Snake, Excision, GorillaT, Green Velvet, GRiZ, ISOxo, its murph, Kasbo, Lane 8, Levity, Marshmello, Seven Lions, Sullivan King, The Resistance, Yousuke Yukimatsu, Zeds Dead, and Zingara.

This year’s massive lineup reflects the continued evolution of electronic music itself, bringing global headliners together with some of the scene’s most forward-thinking producers and rising artists. Alesso, DJ Snake, Marshmello, Excision, GRiZ, Seven Lions, Zeds Dead, and Lane 8 anchor a bill built for massive festival moments, while artists including Black Tiger Sex Machine, Deathpact, ISOxo, Levity, Alleycvt, Zingara, and Crankdat represent the genre’s increasingly celebrated boundary-pushing bass-forward sound.

For Denver, the event also represents a continuation of the city’s longstanding role within American electronic music. Colorado’s deep bass and dance music community has helped make Denver one of the country’s most important markets for the genre, and Decadence has become an annual destination that brings that local culture together with fans traveling from across the country for New Year’s Eve.

Across two nights, Decadence will transform the Colorado Convention Center into its signature immersive environment, combining multiple stages, large-scale visual production, lighting, lasers, art installations, and a dance floor spanning the equivalent of six football fields. The indoor format allows the festival to create a fully controlled production environment while giving attendees the opportunity to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the heart of downtown Denver.

Now entering its next chapter, Decadence continues to build on more than a decade of New Year’s Eve celebrations while maintaining its position as one of the country’s premier indoor electronic music destinations. The festival’s combination of major international artists, emerging talent, Colorado’s electronic music community, and immersive production experience has made it a destination event for fans looking to close out the year at scale.

With the full 2026 lineup now revealed, anticipation will build toward NYE, when thousands of fans will converge on Denver for two nights of music and a final celebration before the calendar turns.

Decadence Colorado will officially return on December 30th & 31st, 2026. Learn more here.

Will I ever get tired of writing this? Probably not. Summer has officially arrived, and if you’re a Lane 8 fan, you know exactly what that means: a brand-new mixtape to soundtrack the season. Attendees of Daniel’s I Made You a New Mixtape event at Colorado’s legendary Mishawaka Amphitheatre were treated to an early preview of the Summer 2026 Mixtape. The four-hour set doubled as a celebration of 10 years of This Never Happened, creating a magical experience for those fortunate enough to be there.

One of Lane 8’s greatest strengths has always been his ability to surprise listeners. He seamlessly weaves together genres, spotlights emerging talent, and debuts unreleased tracks from artists fans already love. The Summer 2026 Mixtape is no exception – another beautifully curated journey that captures the feeling of endless summer days and unforgettable nights.

Summer 2026 Mixtape

One thing I love about Lane 8’s mixtapes is how he ignores genre lines. This mix goes far beyond melodic house. Daniel moves from Bonobo and YOTTO to Aphex Twin with ease. He then drops moments from Charli XCX, Vince Staples, and Rage Against The Machine. The Pink Floyd and AMTRAC mashup is another perfect example. It sounds unexpected on paper. In the mix, it feels effortless. That willingness to take risks keeps every seasonal journey fresh. This edition also includes 16 IDs and unreleased tracks. That leaves plenty of room for speculation. Are they new Lane 8 productions? Could some belong to other This Never Happened artists? Or will we all keep guessing until the Fall Mixtape finally arrives?

The familiar faces are here too. Artists like Budakid, Rinzen, AMTRAC, and YOTTO feel like old friends at this point. Their tracks add a sense of continuity that longtime listeners will appreciate. Then came the biggest surprise for me. Hearing the remix of ‘No Captain’ instantly stopped me in my tracks. It remains one of my favourite Lane 8 songs. The ‘Fingerprint’ remix delivered a similar feeling. Both moments blended nostalgia with discovery. They felt familiar, yet completely new. That balance is what Lane 8 does best. He gives us fresh music to obsess over while reminding us why we fell in love with these mixtapes in the first place.

I’ve already listened to this mixtape several times in the last day. I keep hitting rewind on the IDs. A few sound like they could be Sultan + Shepard. Others give me strong MYRNE vibes. I also hear shades of other This Never Happened artists throughout the mix. Of course, that’s part of the fun. With 16 unreleased tracks, every listen feels like a new round of detective work. One moment I’m convinced I’ve figured an artist out. The next track sends me back to square one.

That’s what makes these seasonal mixtapes so special. They are more than collections of songs. They spark conversations, theories, and countless rewinds. Some of these IDs will eventually reveal themselves. Others may stay mysteries a little longer. Until then, we’ll keep comparing notes and making our best guesses. And if history tells us anything, Lane 8 will leave us wondering right up until the Fall Mixtape drops. For now, I’m happy getting lost in the journey and chasing clues one replay at a time.

Brooklyn Storehouse has dropped the next wave of programming for its closing season, adding Afrojack and bass music collective WORSHIP to a lineup that was already shaping up to be a proper send-off for one of New York City’s most ambitious dance music venues. The final run of events stretches from July 24 through a Halloween Weekend farewell from October 30 to November 1.

The 104,000-square-foot warehouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard has spent the last several years hosting some of the bigger names and event brands in the global scene. It was always a meanwhile project — a temporary activation of the Navy Yard site during a transitional period — and the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation has now confirmed the space will be repurposed for climate infrastructure and clean energy production. So this closing run is exactly that: a final chapter.

The season kicks off July 24 with rising house duo Max Dean b2b Luke Dean going all night long, followed by Canadian trio Black Tiger Sex Machine on August 22. September opens with Teletech New York on the 5th, a stacked multi-act showcase featuring Australian hard dance act Restricted, Dutch hardcore artist Natte Visstick, industrial techno act Kruelty, selector JSMN, and the duo Jazzy b2b Nikolina.

Four Tet returns for back-to-back nights on September 17 and 18, both presented by NYC events collective Teksupport. Lane 8 follows on September 26, bringing his Cross Pollination concept to Brooklyn Storehouse with Lane 8 b2b Kasbo and Robby East b2b MYRNE on the bill.

The newly confirmed additions land in October. Afrojack plays October 10, and WORSHIP takes over on October 17. Crankdat then holds down back-to-back nights on October 23 and 24 before the venue closes out its run with a three-night Halloween Weekend celebration October 30 through November 1. Additional artists for that closing stretch are still to be announced.

Pre-sale for the newly announced shows kicks off Thursday, June 26 at 12PM ET for WORSHIP, Afrojack, and Lane 8. General on-sale opens Friday, June 27 at 10AM ET for WORSHIP and Lane 8, and 12PM ET for Afrojack. Full ticketing information is available at brooklynstorehouse.com.

DGTL is returning to Amsterdam Dance Event in 2026 with one of its most ambitious programs yet. I can already feel that signature energy building across Amsterdam-North. This year, DGTL expands beyond its usual footprint, adding the Kromhouthal alongside the iconic NDSM Warehouse. That second venue changes everything.

Kromhouthal

NDSM Warehouse remains the heart of DGTL. It carries that raw, industrial edge that always hits harder in person. But bringing in the Kromhouthal feels like a statement. It signals growth while staying rooted in the same underground ethos. Two venues, two distinct identities, one cohesive vision.

Four Days of Curated Energy, From Daytime to Late-Night

Across four days, DGTL spreads eight shows with a clear sense of purpose. Thursday kicks things off with a fresh wave of artists. You can hear the blur between trance, eurodance, and hard house in that Generator lineup. It feels fast, emotional, and slightly unpredictable. Then Frequency flips the script the same night with UK garage and bass energy. That contrast already sets the tone for the weekend.

Friday leans into storytelling. Tinlicker takes over NDSM for an extended live set, and that alone feels like a moment. Their sound has matured into something that fits both festival stages and late-night spaces. Later, Joris Voorn, Kevin de Vries, and Miss Monique carry that melodic tension forward. It is layered, immersive, and made for long stretches on the dancefloor. Saturday is where it really opens up. Shimza curates a daytime program grounded in Afro house and global rhythms. That kind of curation always brings a different crowd and a different energy. At the same time, Kromhouthal hosts Lane 8’s This Never Happened. That no-phone concept always lands differently. You feel more present, more connected, and fully locked into the music. Seeing that in a new venue at ADE feels special. You know that is going to be where you find me this ADE.

By night, Novah pushes things harder with a rave-driven lineup built for intensity. It is fast, heavy, and unapologetic. Then Sunday slows things down just enough. Folamour closes the weekend with an all-day set full of disco, soul, and groove. It feels like a release after everything that came before it.

Presale tickets go live on June 24 at 16:00 CEST, with general sale following on June 25 at the same time. If past ADE editions are anything to go by, these shows will not sit for long. DGTL did not just add another venue this year. It expanded its story. And honestly, I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds in October.

New Music Friday hits different when Lane 8 finally drops Cross Pollination II. We spent months chasing IDs through mixtapes and live sets, just trying to piece it all together. Now it’s here. Out on This Never Happened, this one has me on repeat. Coffee in hand, emotions wide open, tissues close by. Some tracks feel instantly recognizable from those moments we held onto, while others arrive completely new and unheard. I missed the first stretch of the 10-year TNH celebrations in Colorado, and it still stings. And while it’s all still unfolding as I write this, I can’t help but feel like I missed something special. From everything I’ve heard, it’s one of those “you had to be there” moments that stays with you. I will not get soppy on you guys, lets dive into discussing these beautiful collaborations.

Cross Pollination II – ID Hunting

Cross Pollination first came to life in 2020, with Daniel teaming up with artists from the This Never Happened family. It felt natural — music always hits differently when it’s created with friends. The original project landed during a challenging moment in time, bringing together seven collaborative tracks that really captured that sense of connection. Fast forward to 2026, and Cross Pollination II builds on that idea in a much bigger way, now doubling the tracklist and expanding the vision even further.

Leading up to today’s full 14-track release, we had already been living with standout cuts like ‘Disappear,’ ‘Penguin Parade,’ ‘World Is Mine,’ ‘Empty Theatre, Pretty Picture,’ ‘Adelie,’ and ‘Tripwires’—each one building the anticipation in real time. This album also includes a reprise of ‘Disappear,’ a track with Kasbo and BJOERN, I can’t get over.

Do you recognize some of the 7 unreleased IDs from the mixtapes or live sets this year? Because hearing them again here hits differently. From the Spring 2026 mixtape, we had early glimpses of ‘Purple Pepper’ with PARIS and ‘Candy’ alongside new TNH name Quentin Quivera. Those moments already stuck, but they land with even more weight now. ‘The Doubt’ with Jyll and Gui Boratto has probably been the one, ever since the Winter 2025 mixtape, it hasn’t left rotation. Fans held onto that ID, waiting for it, replaying that moment over and over. Go back to the Fall 2025 mixtape, and it all connects even more. ‘Maglia Rosa,’ with Grigoré carried that deep, emotional pull, while ‘Pulsar’ with Teho brought something fresh and driving into the mix.

Other new ones also include ‘Sol’ wit Cornelius SA and Alan Green. Hearing all of these again now, fully realized, feels like everything finally coming full circle.

Collaborations that stand out

You already know I’d say every track feels like a highlight, but ‘The Doubt’ really stays with me. Jyll’s voice just hits on another level right now, and this one lingers long after it ends. She shared earlier this week that she wrote it about feeling like you’re “too much” for the people around you. Too emotional, too intense and too hard to understand. That feeling lands hard, because it’s something so many of us carry but rarely know how to express. That raw honesty is what pulls me in. It feels so real, so human, even in its simplicity. Jyll’s haunting delivery paired with Daniel’s production lets every emotion breathe. Nothing feels forced. Everything just sits exactly where it needs to.

This is one of those tracks where you stop, sit with it, and actually feel it. Let it wash over you, and for a moment, remind yourself you’re not alone in it. That said, a few tracks take the sound in a completely different direction. Starting with ‘Something In The Air’ with Rae Morris, who you’ll recognise from her earlier work with Lane 8 on ‘No Fun’.

Quite similar in terms of the vibe with their previous collaboration. Leans into that club space than you’d expect at first. The kick comes in clean and steady, and those synths give it that driving, dancefloor energy that keeps it moving. The hook sits in the blend between Rae Morris’ vocal and the synth line. Her voice floats on top, but the production keeps pushing underneath, so it never feels too soft. It builds in a way that feels emotional, but still made for a late-night set. Lane 8 handles that groove and structure. You hear it in the pacing, the progression, and how everything locks into the rhythm. Rae Morris brings the contrast. Her vocal adds that airy, slightly melancholic tone, but it never slows the track down.

‘Candy’ with Quentin Quivera still sits in that emotional, stripped-back space, but it doesn’t stay there. It carries a lot more weight on the dancefloor than you expect. The track leans into a different lane, letting the emotion lead through the melody, but those bigger beats and driving rhythm bring it back into that late-night energy. The hook sits in that melancholic violin line. It runs through the entire track and feels like it’s telling the story on its own. Quentin Quivera adds that cinematic, emotional edge, while Lane 8 holds the structure and momentum. Together, they land in this space where you can feel everything, but still stay locked into the rhythm. I keep coming back to this one.

French melodic talent Teho teams up with Lane 8 on ‘Pulsar,’ and it feels like a pure feel‑good escape from start to finish. The energy pulls you in right away. The hook sits in that pulsing synth line. It builds steadily, evolves naturally, and keeps pushing you forward without ever feeling rushed. There’s something hypnotic about it. Before you even realize it, you’re locked into the groove. I can already picture this one playing out at a day party or a packed club. It carries that light, uplifting energy where everyone around you is smiling, fully in the moment. It just feels easy, effortless, and made to be shared with people around you.

Until the Next This Never Happened Moment

All 14 tracks feel like they carry their own story. Each one holds a different emotion, but they all connect in a way that feels honest and intentional. I’ve genuinely loved sitting with this album while Daniel celebrates 10 years of TNH out in Colorado. I’m already looking forward to what comes next. I’m hoping for more TNH 10 announcements soon, and this time, I’m making sure I make it out there. Until then, I’ll be here looping these tracks, letting them sink in, and enjoying the World Cup along the way.

New Music Thursday is here, and you may have already caught the latest Lane 8 drop from Cross Pollination II. Out today, he links up with an unexpected collaborator on ‘Empty Theatre, Pretty Picture’ with Davey Havok. Be honest, did any of us have that on our bingo cards? This marks the sixth single from the album, which arrives June 12. Hit play on the latest drop while we countdown the days.

‘Empty Theatre, Pretty Picture’

If you caught Lane 8 this past year, you heard this one and immediately wondered who was behind it. I definitely didn’t expect Davey Havok from AFI to be the voice on this. That reveal still feels surreal.

‘Empty Theatre, Pretty Picture’ leans cinematic and deeply emotional, blending melodic house with an alternative edge that just works. Daniel builds his signature atmosphere here – wide, immersive, and full of space, while Davey brings raw emotion, tension, and vulnerability to every line. Warm synths carry the rhythm, and the melody slowly rises into a really satisfying release. Davey’s voice cuts through with this haunting, almost nostalgic weight that stays with you. It adds a whole new layer to Lane 8’s world, making the track feel both intimate and expansive at the same time.

The title alone pulls you in – ‘Empty Theatre, Pretty Picture’ feels loaded before the first note even hits. To me, it reads like a reflection on memory, loneliness, and the strange beauty that lingers after everything fades. There’s that quiet tension between what was and what’s left behind. The “pretty picture” feels like those idealized moments we hold onto, while the “empty theatre” grounds you in the reality that follows. It leaves the track sitting in that space between melancholic and deeply reflective.

And then somehow, it still grooves. This one had me locked in, bobbing the entire five minutes without a break.

Lane 8 will release Cross Pollination II, a new album with 14 tracks, on June 12th through his record label, This Never Happened (TNH). He made this announcement on X/Twitter and included a link for fans to pre-save and pre-order the album.

This album revisits a format the innovative melodic and deep house producer had used in 2020 with the original Cross Pollination album. That album featured seven tracks and gathered artists from the TNH universe during a quieter time for live music. Six years later, the sequel offers double the tracks and includes not only artists from the label but also well-known names like Rae Morris, Davey Havok, Gui Boratto, and Grigoré.

The tracks from Lane 8 on Cross Pollination II brought out the unique production talents of each artist who collaborated on the album

Since January, five of the album’s tracks have been released. Each track first appeared as an ID in Lane 8’s live shows or seasonal mixtapes before their official release. The track ‘Disappear’, which features sadHAPPY, continues Lane 8’s partnership with Sultan + Shepard. In February, he released ‘Penguin Parade’ with Robby East, who previously worked on the Dahlia EP for the TNH label and contributed to Lane 8’s Childish remix album. Also, Lane 8 released a collaborative single, ‘Adelie,’ with Singaporean producer MYRNE, who contributed his own Childish remix in late 2025 as well. In March, he released ‘Tripwires’, which features Massane and barking continues. The fifth track, ‘World Is Mine’, came out on April 23rd and includes collaborations with Kasbo and BJOERN.

This year marks ten years of This Never Happened as a record label and live event concept. To celebrate, Lane 8 has organized anniversary shows in London and Colorado, which will run through mid-June.

For years, fans of the This Never Happened label have found him on Instagram under the slightly longer handle @lane8music. While it’s a common workaround for artists whose preferred names are already taken, artists would prefer a simple handle name.

This week, in a feel-good moment, the producer shared on Instagram that he finally dropped the “music” suffix, officially migrating his presence to the coveted @lane8. But the story of how he acquired it is far more meaningful and a testament to why the EDM community is so kind.

The Story:

The original owner of the @lane8 handle wasn’t a bot, but a non-profit organization whose name also includes “Lane 8.” Rather than engaging in a standard legal battle or offering a private payout to an individual, Daniel Goldstein and his team reached a heartwarming agreement.

In exchange for the handle, Lane 8 made a significant donation to the non-profit. While the exact figure hasn’t been disclosed, the gesture turned a digital branding hurdle into a win for a charitable cause.

“Don’t worry though I still plan on making music”

The handle update comes at a busy time for Goldstein. With his latest album Childish still resonating across the progressive house scene, and a packed 2026 festival schedule on the horizon. He will continue making music as he announced in the post.

It’s a rare “everyone wins” story in the music industry.
