One of Canada’s top dance music talents, Dezza’s new, Nova Scotia-inspired second album, 44° North, 63° West, further establishes him as a leader in the progressive house space as well with nineteen beautiful compositions. Inspired by the small coastal province of Nova Scotia in Eastern Canada that he calls home, he celebrated the new album with a live stream from one of the most beautiful locations in the country, Cape Forchu Lighthouse.
Featuring EDM Tunes’ favorite singles “Getaway” and “Carry Me” plus another seventeen tracks, his sophomore full-length solo project is a marvelous collection of progressive house productions. Having already graced the cover of DJ Mag Canada and earned support from the likes of Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond, this album helps further put Dezza at the forefront of the Progressive house scene.

With his newest album, he builds on the success of his debut album Cosmos, released in 2019 which has over 10 million streams and led him around the world for several international tours. In sharp contrast, 2020 was spent largely in isolation by Dezza, who turned to the beauty and nature of his surroundings in the Nova Scotia wilderness for inspiration and comfort. This is reflected in the album’s tracks that are tied together by a common theme of optimism and bliss through upbeat chord progressions, driving percussion and airy, floating synths.

The album features a host of impressive collaborators to breathe further life into his productions, including vocalists from around the world like Lauren L’aimant, EMME, and Mike Schmid, who bring their own perspectives and stories to ’44° North, 63° West.’ Listen to it below on repeat!

Over the weekend, Dezza released his track featuring EMME, ‘Getaway‘ via Colorize under Enhanced Music. It’s a mellow and laden track that leaves a comforting sensation, highlighted through the vocals and instrumental melding. It’s also a showcase of the producer’s diverse palette which sees him consistently taking multiple genres to heart. Moreover, that approach caused his recent releases via Colorize to be distinct, always shifting focus while keeping a cohesive heart.

New music Friday 🎧@DJDezza returns to @Colorize_Music together with EMME for brand new release 'Getaway'!

Listen to the full track on our Latest Releases Playlist on your favourite streaming platform: https://t.co/v3q0Rcxt34 pic.twitter.com/TBFRC0Lnk9
— Enhanced Music (@Enhanced_Music) September 4, 2020

Firstly, ‘Getaway’ kicks off with a pad alongside nature sounds which smoothly transition into the piano and vocal. From that point on, it takes a comforting tone with the light percussion as EMME’s delivery is aptly focused on. It’s quite reminiscent of many classic tracks within the combinations of house and trance. Nonetheless, that’s only in the heart of it while retaining a solid body that stands out on its own. Overall, the direction Dezza took on ‘Getaway’ is a more than welcome one that offers some warmth.

Lastly, listen to Dezza’s ‘Getaway’ featuring EMME via Colorize under Enhanced Music below.

London-based independent label Enhanced Music has been a trendsetter in EDM for years and the Tritonal-led hitmaker’s newer Colorize imprint has become a premier destination for deep and progressive tracks recently. Canadian DJ/Producer Dezza just released his new Melodic House record, “Carry Me” featuring Mike Schmid, on the esteemed label and it’s the lead single of his forthcoming second studio album.

Dezza is one of the most remarkable electronic DJ/Producers to come out of Canada in a long time. He effortlessly blends Progressive House, Trance and House to create a forward thinking sound inspired from his surroundings in the stunning maritime province of Nova Scotia. For this original style of music, he’s earned over 20 million streams. Following impressive singles and his debut album, he has toured globally, been featured on the cover of DJ Mag Canada, and guested on a variety of radio shows including Armin Van Buuren’s ‘A State Of Trance’ and Above & Beyond’s ‘Group Therapy.’
2018 was the breakthrough year for Dezza which saw releases on a variety of well-respected Dance labels including Spinnin’ Records, Enhanced Music and Anjunabeats, with his ‘Pure Love / Need U’ EP on Colorize reaching 1 million streams on Spotify. 2019 was the biggest year yet for Dezza with the release of his debut album ‘Cosmos,’ a worldwide tour under his belt, as well as launching the inaugural ‘Colorscapes‘ compilation series with label-mate Matt Fax.

Having already released three singles in 2020, Dezza continues to ignite the progressive world, and “Carry Me” featuring the vocal talents of Mike Schmid is an ambitious production that cements his place as a leader in the genre. In “Carry Me,” Dezza demonstrates his knack for creating timeless music. A lusciously distorted bass and polished rhythm section propel the track forward, giving it an injection of invigorating energy that is complimented by elegantly arpeggiated synths, ethereal pads and Schmid’s soaring vocals.

ASOT 900 Utrecht

Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder: “what is it that Armin van Buuren has, that everything he touches turns to gold?” Well, we still don’t have an answer for that, but we are certainly happy that it’s working this way. Last weekend, to celebrate the 900 episodes of his radio show A State Of Trance, Armin threw a mega-festival without precedents: ASOT 900. EDMTunes was lucky enough to be a part of the festivities, and we are here to tell you everything about it!

With a record-breaking attendance of 35,000 festivalgoers from 161 nationalities, ASOT 900 has been, by far, the biggest edition of an ASOT festival. The Utrecht venue hosted 5 different stages with different trance styles to fit everyone’s taste. Some of the artists on the bill included Vini Vici, MaRLo, Estiva, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Allen Watts, Whitenoise, Dezza, Ruben de Ronde, Luke Bond and more. But the festival wouldn’t have been complete without some fantastic perks and surprises that happened through the night:

Armin playing 3 different sets during the night: This is none other than Armin’s own festival. He conceived it from the very beginning when ASOT was only a weekly radio emission. Armin was feeling like at home, pretty much in his very own backyard, and he played 3 times: at the beginning, during the peak hour and at his signature stage, Who’s Afraid of 138?! So even if you couldn’t catch him on one set, you didn’t have to worry. You could always catch the next one.

ASOT radio show live from the festival: Yes, that radio booth was everything. Just imagine yourself, enjoying the best artists in the first row of the crowd, and then going to grab a drink while watching everything that’s going on at ASOT’s radio booth. That’s what we call an immersive experience!

New collaboration with Above & Beyond: And this is what we’ve all been waiting for ages! Our favorite brits and the King of Trance dropped this much-awaited new single together ‘Show Me Love‘. The Trance Family dreamed about this for a long time. And the dream became real at ASOT 900.

ASOT 900 coming to the Bay Area, California: West coast Armin’s lovers, if you were disappointed that the only way to catch an ASOT 900 show was either flying to Europe or to Ultra Miami, good news have come your way. Armin announced during the festival that the ASOT 900 crew is coming to the Bay Area to keep partying like there’s no tomorrow. So if you live in San Francisco, you have been warned!

Conclusion: If ASOT 900 was such an epic production, we can only imagine what ASOT 1000 is going to be. Teamed up with ALDA, the biggest electronic music promoter in the Netherlands that is now associated with Insomniac Events, Armin has the world in his hands, and the speculation for the 1000th episode is already growing. What is it going to be? We don’t know yet. But in the meantime, you can catch ASOT 900 in some of these other amazing locations!
