What began as a brief creative moment quickly reignited a long-standing friendship and laid the groundwork for an ongoing musical partnership. When Jordi returned to New York, the collaboration deepened, evolving into a growing catalog of releases that reflect their aligned sound and mutual love of house music.

“This Is House” is built around the iconic “This Is House” sample and delivers exactly what the title promises. Looking ahead, Jordi Iven and SUERZA continue to expand their reach. The pair have another release lined up on a close friend’s label in Berlin, alongside plans for a release party in the city. While SUERZA is currently based in Madrid, playing regularly across the city, Jordi has been spending time in Brazil, performing multiple shows and strengthening his international presence. He is set to return to New York soon, with appearances planned at Gospel and other key events.

A New Chapter for Brooklyn Nightlife

A strict no-phone policy ensures patrons focus on the experience, which includes five disco balls, unique circular lighting, and proofed window openings.

The true focus, however, is the audio. The article emphasizes the four massive, perfectly positioned speaker stacks, which staff were seen diligently polishing—a small detail that underscores the venue’s dedication to its sound system.

Macon’s latest, ‘Bulletproof,’ is a revamp of the iconic 2009 La Roux Synth-Pop hit. Looking back a couple of decades, certain songs grew to be turning points in the history of Dance music. Acts such as John Summit’s appearance changing how we perceive Tech House, or how Afterlife came by and redefined Techno from the warehouses and dark rooms to the open air, although recent, are clear examples of points in time when music changed.

And perhaps one of the first huge turning points in Dance music came with the Trance movement back in the 90s. Kind of like the 80s equivalent in Electronic music, so many iconic tunes come from that decade. ‘For An Angel’, ‘Children’, ‘Played-A-Live’, and so, SO many more. Well, one of those special tracks in Dance music history has got to be Energy 52‘s timeless ‘Café Del Mar‘.

Café Del Mar

The 1993 release became an absolute anthem of Trance. Produced by German DJs Kid Paul and Cosmic Baby and named after the famous Ibiza beach bar, the track became synonymous with the island’s euphoric, sun-kissed club scene. With its mesmerising melodies and uplifting harmonies, it became a staple for DJs at sunset sets the world over. It even topped Mixmag’s ‘Top 100 Tunes of All Time’ back in 2001.

The double-edged sword of a classic track is precisely that. Everybody loves it, and everybody wants to get their hands on it. Can you count the amount of remixes they’ve done to ‘Silence’ over the years? Me neither. That’s what I’m talking about. With a track with such a rich history, it’s bound to happen that over the years people flood the internet with their own takes. And it’s tough to separate the “meh” from the really good renditions.

Well, two really good renditions were just unleashed today. Meet the remixers, Orbital and Michael Mayer.

Orbital

Pioneering British duo Orbital, known for their ground-breaking live shows and seminal tracks like ‘Halcyon and On and On‘ and their remix of Golden Girls’ ‘Kinetic‘, are still shaping the scene after three entire decades. Their 2024 album — Orbital (The Green Album Expanded) — and following tour show they can blend modern sounds with their signature style, solidifying their legendary status.

Their take on ‘Café Del Mar’ is a nod to the past, a lovely blend of elements from yesterday that are so tasty when combined. Highly resonant saws meet the soft plucky tones of the original track, surrounded by nostalgic pads, all resting gracefully over a Breakbeat platform. A true example of minimalistic productions gone absolutely right. No element is a filler: every sound has a purpose.

Michael Mayer

One of the largest in Cologne’s scene, Michael Mayer co-founded the influential Kompakt label. His work spans genres as varied as Microhouse to Ambient Techno. Renowned for his meticulous remixes and collaborations, he adds yet another milestone to his discography today.

His remix explores all things hypnotic, tribal, highly energetic and uplifting. Back to the four-on-the-floor vibe, Mayer’s take makes use of more open synths, slightly distorted drum patterns, white noise, and delivers something that we can only describe as the perfect in-between of past and present.

It’s always a good day when a Trance classic gets a respectful update. One that is not invasive, and that cares for the original feeling of the track. That certainly is the case with this remix. We’ve been longtime fans of the Progressive Trance living legend that is ilan Bluestone, a guy who brought the genre into a new direction and laid the foundation for a whole era of Anjunabeats releases.

ilan’s captivating, almost hypnotising sound is one that is, by now, instantly recognisable as his. And that’s why we’re so excited for this release. Chicane‘s ‘Saltwater‘ is arguably one of the most genre-defining tracks in the history of Trance, ever. It’s always nice to see a proper remix, even more so when the remixer keeps it in the Trance family.

Saltwater (ilan Bluestone Remix)

ilan’s opening track from the iconic ABGT450 celebration at The Drumsheds in London, and therefore an anthem of reunion and the meaning of dancers getting back together after a long hiatus, was none other than this remix. Talk about kicking off a set in style. If you know ‘Saltwater’ and you know ilan’s style, you know exactly what to expect. So, no surprise factor. Is that disappointing? Not in the slightest.

Groove all throughout, Bluestone’s rendition of a classic takes the bar, already high, and takes it up a few meters. Preserving the bass rhythm, the arpeggio from the original track, the chords, taking the vocals as pure as they come and fitting them inside the track, the work he’s done here is simply awe-inspiring. Enjoy the break preserving the original energy, as well, to culminate a tension hike expertly in ilan’s finest engineering fashion. There are no words that really live up to the quality and respect this song emanates, you have to listen yourself.

While summer might be drawing to a close, this track is a reminder that there’s still plenty of heat.

Traffic (Kryder & Dave Winnel Remix)

This lovely reconstruction of the original track brings lots of the old elements into it, effectively working as an elegant update in the Techno style. A strong rumbling kick and high-end-dampened percussion, work in perfect combination with the original saw synths that make this song what it is: an icon. Add to that the rolling bassline in each drop, and what you end up with is nothing short of amusing. Kryder and Dave did the original justice.

Traffic (Maddix Remix)

Now, if you’re looking for something that will make you desperately beat the air with your first, you might put this remix to good use. Maddix took the concept of filthiness and upped it a notch. By even dropping the key of the song to a darker one, he’s crafted quite the piece. The original saws are a bit more detuned than the original, and — technical stuff ahead — the pre-delay on the reverb is set in such a way that the synths duck and rise, as though they were pumped through the sound. Is it good? Of course this remix is good!
