Year in Tunes: Top 10 Remixes of 2022

It’s that time of the year again, lets take a look at this Year in Tunes. We are back with our editors and writers picking their favorite remixes of 2022. December is definitely the month we reflect back on all the amazing music that has been shared with the world and you can also check out our Breakout Artists of 2022. This year has been a breakthrough of music and let’s see our picks below.

10. Sam Smith – Unholy (Disclosure Remix)

Our first pick of the year is the high-profile collab between Smith and Kim Petras. This remix by Disclosure adds an extra minute distorting the song’s Arabian scale with a punch house beat. This song was released after the 10th anniversary of ‘Latch’, the collab between Smith and Disclosure released back in 2012. This collaboration will definitely have fans dancing through 2023.

9. ACRAZE – Do It To It (Subfocus Remix)

Surprise, surprise we have Acraze’s ‘Do It To It’ on this remix list. Sub focus puts his drum and bass spin and keeps the catchy vocals from the original. This house edit has been firing up the dance floor and definitely been high up on the hot electronic songs of the year.

8. Burns – Talamanca (Carl Cox Remix)

This feel good, infectious 2021 hit track lured Cox into adding his club twist. Cox uses his experience in creating a track no one will forget. This is the sixth official remix of ‘Burns’ but definitely intoxicating and the best one with techno spin on the orchestral-house anthem.

7. Galantis- Runaway (U & I) [Subtronics Remix]

With Runaway’s either anniversary, Galantis recruited Subtronics to transform their single. The ageless vocals are incorporated with the upside-down high-voltage base drop. This anthem is transformed for a different crowd by Subtronics.

6. Martinez Brothers – Rizzla (Mochakk Remix)

This list won’t complete without Mochakk, who is also part of our Breakout Artists of 2022. Mochakk delivers an hypnotic club weapon remix of Rizzla. He is definitely an artist to watch out for in 2023.

5. Orbital – Chime (Eli Brown Remix)

Eli Brown and Orbital release a brand new remix of the 1990’s classic ‘Chime’. The iconic melodic hook of the original track along with punchy drums remix has created an explosion on the dance floor.

4. Age of Love (Artbat Rave Remix)

This track was one that our team had taken to fondly last year as well and was part of our top 10 remixes. Ukrainian duo Artbat collaborated with the dance legend Pete Tong to release one of their biggest tunes ever. ‘Age of Love’ a dance classic remixed into a melodic yet deep affair with synths, trance and techno to create an emotional impact as ARTBAT always does.

3. Rufus – On My Knees (Cassian Remix)

How can our list be complete without Cassian’s remix of ‘On my Knees’. Cassian who was a standout in 2022 and part of our breakthrough artists of the year as well comes through with his own build up to the dark synths and vocals of the track. Cassian has remixed songs from three of Rüfüs Du Sol’s previous albums and tries to keep much of the original track to preserve the unique sound. This remix definitely had us all grooving through the summer during Cassian’s North American tour.

2. Chris Lake – Turn Off The Lights (Cloonee remix)

‘Turn off the lights’ has been a beloved tech-house track for the last three years and this much anticipated remix by Cloonee was released on the anniversary. Cloonee has been an artist to watch out this year and brought this track to another level.

1. Kx5 -Escape (John Summit)

As soon as John Summit teased dancefloors with this remix of ‘Escape’, we knew who’d be stealing the #1 spot this year. Summit’s bender brand has definitely spoken to the crowds and created a die-hard fanbase of bender-goers. This remix has definitely made waves through the clubs, festivals, and the radio. The track made its way from the techno stages to the mainstages and straight to the top of our list. This Chicago boy definitely knows how to give his fans the best music and parties. Congratulations John Summit!
