Tomorrowland Cancelled After Belgium Bans Events

As announced, the Belgian National Security Council gathered today to define new measures to fight the Coronavirus outbreak. On the agenda, there was the big question about the fate of 2020 summer festival season. After weeks of speculations, hope, and uncertainty, today we finally have an answer. All 2020 cultural events, including festivals, are banned until the end of August. This includes music festivals such as Tomorrowland.

Shortly after the news broke, Tomorrowland broke the bad news to its fans. The 2020 festival cannot take place, and the festival will be rescheduled to July 16-18 and 23-25 of 2021. All tickets will be transferred to 2021, meaning it’s already sold out. No word on the availability of refunds. In the post, the festival also revealed the existence of new “indoor and outdoor concepts”, meaning new stages we will have to wait over a year to see.

Earlier this week, Tomorrowland sent its partners a thoughtful letter with words of comfort and a box of chocolates. The letter already states that Tomorrowland will take place in 2021, rather than postponed this year, should the festival not go ahead on the scheduled dates.

Times are very tough, but hopefully, the future will be brighter and all these tragic events will change our experience for the better, and help us appreciate it even more. We recommend you check out our editorial on this.
