Medical Examiner’s Office Confirms MDMA as Cause of TomorrowWorld Death

It’s been a rough road for TomorrowWorld 2015. After being forced to partially cancel the festival’s final day, SFX faced accusations of leaving fans stranded in the middle of nowhere and has had to issue extensive refunds to attendees. Now, the already embattled company faces more dour news, as the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially ruled the death of 22-year-old Connor McGinnis a drug overdose.

McGinnis had attended TomorrowWorld and was rushed to the hospital on September 26th following the festival. Many media outlets speculated that McGinnis’ death was due to a drug overdose, and now, the Medical Examiner’s report cites the “acute toxic effects of MDMA” as the cause of death. Though the festival cannot be implicated in McGinnis’ death in anyway, his passing is tragic and troubling news that cast yet another dark cloud over what was supposed to be a magical weekend.
