‘ccared’ stands out by shifting the momentum of Fred’s recent output. While previous singles like ‘Ambery’ and ‘OGdub’ leaned into higher energies and grittier rhythms, this new collaboration opts for a deeper and more emotionally resonant approach. The production architecture recalls the slow-burn emotionality of Fred’s earlier hits, such as ‘Marea (We’ve Lost Dancing).’ The track utilizes a patient buildup where the beat periodically recedes, creating a vacuum that draws the listener’s focus entirely toward the vocals.

The centerpiece of the track is undoubtedly Young Thug’s delivery. Fans of the Atlanta rapper might find the vocal lines familiar; the song incorporates elements from an unreleased Young Thug track long-circulated among fans under the title ‘Lucky.’ Under Fred again..’s curation, these lyrics are transformed into a haunting, melodic hook. The track’s credits also highlight a broader collaborative effort, featuring contributions from Lil Yachty, Boo, and Nate Brazier, adding layers of texture to the final composition.

This release is the latest chapter in the USB002 project, which began in earnest last fall when Fred embarked on a whirlwind “10 songs in 10 weeks” campaign accompanied by pop-up shows in 10 cities globally. The project functions as a living archive of his current musical explorations, moving away from the traditional album cycle in favor of a fluid, plug-and-play format that mirrors the spontaneity of his live sets.

The arrival of ‘scared’ coincides with Fred again..’s current run of USB centric performances. Next weekend, he is set to take over New York’s East End Studios for a pair of highly anticipated shows. Friday night’s lineup features support from X3butterfly, Doctor Jeep, and Sister Zo, while Saturday will see him joined by Caribou and BRUX. As Fred continues to populate his USB drive with diverse sounds and unexpected collaborations, ‘scared’ serves as a reminder of Fred’s unique ability to turn fragments into polished, evocative electronic mainstays.

The new SanDisk DJ Flash Drive has been tailored to work with AlphaTheta and Pioneer DJ equipment, it is a product targeted specifically to DJs this time. A key feature is its fast speed, which can reach up to 1,000MB/s. This means that music files will load much quicker, helping DJs have smoother performances, loading times, among others.

To make it easy to connect to different devices, the flash drive has two types of plugs: USB-C and the older USB-A. This allows DJs to use it with newer computers and older DJ equipment from AlphaTheta and Pioneer DJ. The drive can hold a lot of music, up to 1TB.

As a bonus for DJs, when they buy the SanDisk DJ Flash Drive, they will also get to use the rekordbox Creative Plan for three months for free. This is a set of tools that helps DJs organize their music and get ready for their shows, making their work easier.

Although this is frustrating news, it will most likely be the last major series of the iPhone to do so. Future models will most likely include wireless charging and a port-less Smart Connector system for data transfer and syncing in the iPhone “13 series” next year.

Back in 2017, 9to5Mac shared some of the important benefits of switching over to USB-C for the iPhone:

While the Lightning port is a clever standard, USB-C is even smarter and more capable. Adopting a single port across both Mac and iOS devices would massively simplify the cable and connector ecosystem. And the high-speed data transfer capabilities provided by USB-C would allow Apple devices to work together better than ever.

Apple introduced the ‌Smart Connector‌ back in 2015 with the iPad Pro. It includes three pins which all serve different functions. They are providing power, data, and grounding, although there were questions about implementing a USB-C compatible port, it never came to fruition.

All in all, it seems we will have to wait a bit until we get a USB-C compatible iPhone, potentially next year. With the current world situation with the coronavirus, perhaps 2021 can’t come soon enough.

Many are well aware that Apple products often come with the notoriously disliked fact that when purchasing one of their devices, you often have to buy something else to ensure that it functions to the best of its ability.

Today, a new leak has circulated online indicating that the next iPhone USB-C Fast Charger will look like this:

If this speculation is, in fact, correct, the former iPhone that does not plug into a MacBook Pro without the use of a dongle, will no longer be the case – reinforcing the statement that Apple products will be new and approved!

In the above image, one can see the engineering prototype of an Apple 18 W USB-C charger. This impressive new device will be included with the purchase of the next iPhone.

If the speculations are factual, the future owners of this charger will allow its users the opportunity to take advantage of the iPhone’s fast charging capabilities, and better yet, without having to buy any other products. It gets even better: it will also allow them to connect the iPhone to a MacBook Pro out of the box!

Although these rumors are still not confirmed, last year, the speculations surfaced, however, no images were ever distributed online to reinforce the claim; hinting that that 2018 might be the year for them to shine on the market.

This groundbreaking design will mark the first major modification in the iPhone’s wall charger, as the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X didn’t include the proper charger to fully take advantage of their impressive technology.

The future is bright for iPhone users – it will be great to save that additional $50 on a third party 30W charger from Apple. We can’t wait to get our hands on this new product – let’s hope the rumors are true!

In 2016, a few Android makers took an even bigger leap towards a universal plug that would handle charging, audio, and even video. This was called USB-C and is planned as the future plug to replace all ports on all devices (even HDMI). Currently, if you have a Google Pixel, you are one of the only people with this plug and you know the feeling of being required to carry a cord with you everywhere. Now, word is hitting the street that Apple will ditch its lightning connector on the iPhone 8 and embrace USB-C. This is not that shocking when you realize that Apple already uses this port on its Macbooks.

This means that finally, with the iPhone 8 in 2017, we may begin to reach a point where nobody needs to worry about having the right cord or the right charger ever again. Of course, Apple fans will once again need to shell out dough to replace yet another item made obsolete by Apple.

The funny part is what is replacing it. Much like the latest Macbook, these new Macbooks will feature the new USB-C port instead. It remains to be seen whether these Macbooks will feature multiple ports or only 1 like the Macbook. While this might sound shocking, USB-C is the future and its aiming to become the universal port for everything in electronics. In fact, the only device that isn’t switching to USB-C is Apple’s iPhone. Confusing, right? The nice thing is that USB-C is reversible, handles fast-charging, quick data transfer, video output, and more. Soon enough you will only need one cable for all of your electronics (unless you have an iPhone/iPad). Now hopefully Apple will include more than 1 port, so Macbook buyers aren’t forced to deal with ugly expensive docks.

This could become a big hassle for the DJ community, as many DJs use Macs with their DJ controllers. If there are multiple ports, the solution is as simple as getting a new cord or an adapter. If there’s only one port things will become much more annoying. Only time will tell but the writing is on the wall for the traditional USB port. If you’re ready to start stocking up, you can’t beat the prices on USB-C cables here.

According to Intel headphones powered through USB-C can use their own digital amp instead of the device, meaning more consistent audio no matter what device you listen on. USB could also power new features like earbuds that monitor your heartrate or temperature and send that data to your phone. Lastly, removing the 3.5mm would free up space for other ports and drive costs down. These are all similar to the arguments Apple has put forward for its move.

The difference between Apple’s move and Intel’s plan is that Apple’s move is a cash grab aimed at forcing people onto its proprietary platform while USB-C is planned as a new universal standard port, for everything from power to data transfer to video and now digital audio capabilities. In Intel’s near future world, your devices would eventually replace HDMI, USB, 3.5mm, and power ports with multiple USB-C ports instead. We got pretty close to this type of world with standard USB already, but this might be the standard nirvana we’ve all dreamed of. The idea would be a phone with 2 USB-C ports instead of one charging port and a headphone jack. Imagine a world where you only need one type of cable to do anything and realize that world is close, unless you own an iPhone or iPad of course.

We all heard about the clever stunt over the weekend where Norwegian tropical house maestro, Kygo, gifted lucky members of the Coachella crowd with USB drives. It turns out those drives contained his collaboration with Dillon Francis, which was set to be released on Dillon’s upcoming summer EP. So what’s the problem you ask? Well, Dillon Francis did not know about the stunt and was not happy about it. Snapchat’s most entertaining music producer took to Twitter to throw some shade at Kygo over the incident, although the Tweet has since been deleted. It’s pretty rare to see Dillon upset like that, but at least we know that his EP will be coming soon. In fact, Dillon’s collaboration with Calvin Harris has been completed as well, so it can’t be long before we see some new music from Dillon Francis.
