DJ Turbulence – Tear It Up

DJ Turbulence has been on the scene for some time already. DJing some of the hottest clubs in America’s biggest party cities, he is no stranger to the club scene. He recently teamed up with Fatman Scoop for his new single ‘Tear It Up’.

This high energy tune has all the pieces to be a crowd favorite. The vocals are easy to catch on to, which gives the audience something to chant out in a packed club. The staccato rhythm throughout much of the tune is the perfect beat to move some butts (the millennials are calling this twerking). The short and effective arrangement gives the tune little room to breath, as the energy continues to ramp up. When the tune drops, it drops hard with heavy 808s.

With an already established street cred, the sky is the limit for DJ Turbulence as he seeks to continue down the road of producing his own tracks. Take a listen below.

Over the weekend, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Party Favor backstage at this year’s HARD Summer. If you weren’t there you may have missed out on Party Favor’s epic live performance with surprise guest Lil Jon. You heard right, Lil Jon — the staple of the millennial-era middle school function. The HARD performance was a teaser to their upcoming collaboration set to drop soon. Party Favor is embarking on his Tuned Out Tour next month, and EDMTunes had the chance to catch up with him to discuss his vision of the tour, a new follow-up EP, and a glimpse at Dylan Ragland, the man behind Party Favor. Read the full interview below!

Congratulations on your HARD performance, you killed it. Lil Jon? Wow. You teased on Twitter about a surprise guest, but we did not expect that.

Yes! I was able to keep it a secret! For me, it was awesome bringing out Lil Jon it made my middle school self like freak the fuck out.

I think it tapped into all our middle school spirits.

Like literally, I’m pretty sure I did my first freak dance in 6th grade to “Get Low” by Lil Jon.

Speaking of HARD, I’m sure you’re aware of Gary’s departure from HARD. If this was your last ever HARD Summer set, would you have been satisfied with the performance you just gave?

I think so, I definitely think that I put a lot out there. I’m always someone who’s very hard on myself. So I’m never fully happy with anything that I do — it’s just my curse. But I had a great time out there and the energies insane. Especially when a lot of those kids were in the heat for so long — it was so hot out there I can only imagine — and I really appreciate fans coming out. Especially with their own made flags and their own merch, I saw so much crazy stuff.

What aspect of dance music really pushed you to go beyond being just a fan instead into producing your own music?

I think it’s the energy that’s really hard to emulate. You can listen to metal, you can listen to hip-hop, it’ll all have it’s own energy hype-wise. But in terms of sheer — what you can do with synthesizers you can’t really do with a bunch of instruments. I love all types of music, but as soon as I heard the aggressive side of electronic music when I just starting to get into it, I was hooked. And it kind stuck ever since.

Did you ever face discouragement from people when you were first paving your way into the industry?

Yes, Yes, Yes. I have faced that. I think everyone has that has gotten to some sort of level of fame. Can I say fame? I don’t know whatever it is I have. But a lot of people are like ‘you know it’s a phase and it won’t work out for you,’ it’s definitely fun to think what they’re thinking now. For me, I use it as motivation to prove them wrong.

Your album Party & Destroy is literally an anthem to do just that. What goes on in your head when you’re creating those chaotic energy-fueled beats?

I always kind of make whatever pops into my head and apparently people like it. I think that EP was a big transition for me because it was like a new side of me. It was something you’ve never heard before in terms of “Give it to Me Twice” and “In My Head.” Then the heavier stuff you’ve heard like the stuff with Dillon Francis. For me I want to be as well-rounded as possible. So that EP was the statement piece for that. I’m working on the follow-up EP for that as well.

Party Favor is regarded as a trap and twerk sensation. But your new song “Caskets” embodies a different emotion. Do you see yourself leaning towards that stylistic direction?

For me, I never want to be confined to one exact thing and what’s cool about music nowadays is that it’s a melting pot of everything. I try to make what I feel like I want to do at the time and also make a wide range of stuff that people maybe don’t necessarily know me for, a radio poppier side. Then there’s my normal songs like “WAWA” that my fans like. I try to be the most well-rounded as possible.

Your music has been in numerous commercials and you’ve played sets all over the world; but when do you think you will consider yourself to have achieved success?

I was thinking about this the other day. I try to wake up everyday and be grateful for what I have and what I have achieved. Because a lot of the time when you’re in the moment, you reach one milestone you think you’d never get to, then immediately you think “what’s next what’s next.” It’s really amazing to think when we started this it was a time when literally no one cared at all and it’s been crazy to grow it all up.

Is there any artist that you’ve been wanting to but haven’t gotten the chance to work with?

I would love to work with Timbaland, I don’t really know if he’s still doing stuff though. He’s one of my all-time favorite producers. Skrillex, and I really really wish Freddie Mercury was still alive ’cause he’s my hero. I can’t pick just one I’m sorry.

A lot of DJ’s have refined their own distinct style and persona. What is the Party Favor brand?

Hectic. Hectic in a good way. I hope when people listen to my music that they have fun and enjoy themselves. For me music has always made me feel good, in a positive way whenever I’m down. Music has had such a huge impact on my life that — even though I don’t consider myself to be a classical composer or musically trained — I hope it can make people happy.

Give us an idea as to who the real Dylan Ragland is.

The real Dylan is a fun-loving guy. For Party Favor I have to put on a crazier show, but as a person I’m much more laid back. I’m much more reserved; I don’t have my own social media accounts for myself. I don’t like to be in that public spotlight as much. It’s different because you definitely put on a bigger show as an artist; but I swear I’m not boring.

Me and the rest of the Party Favor fans are eager to know, what can we expect of your upcoming Tuned Out Tour?

New production, a new stage in some cities, lot’s of fun with your friends — probably making bad decisions too. Wild music and hopefully memories that will last a lifetime.

Some of bass music’s finest are back at it! Brillz, Jackal, and Kstylis have collaborated on ‘Twerk Star,’ which is heavy, raw, and exactly what you would expect from this trifecta.

As soon as you hit play, you already know that this song is going to go off. The air raid siren sucks you in, and then the oddly pitched bells keep you engaged. One unique thing about this track is that there’s tons of open space. Instead of overwhelming the song with noise, Brillz, Jackal, and Kstylis chose just a few simple, fat, and effective sounds which combine beautifully.

The result is a groovy, funky, and fast track, that could make even the most stubborn booty move. Out of the tracks three drops, drop three is fantastic. It features the same warped bells that suck you into the intro, and it is definitely worth listening until! Take a listen to this new banger while it’s still hot!

Michael White – Never Look Back EP

MA Music has been dropping some serious bass music since its inception and Michael White’s new Never Look Back EP keeps its reputation going. The project contains bass house, dubstep and trap hybrids, with even a little twerk elements sprinkled somewhere in there. A flurry of heavy horns, police sirens, pitched vocal samples and screeching dubstep synths form a high energy experience. Michael White has been making a name for himself this year, playing shows in Europe. 2017 is looking promising for the kid, so give his latest offering a listen below.

Señor Roar – Bang In The Club

One of our favorite duos in the game right now who don’t limit themselves to a specific genre or sound are based in Adelaide, Australia and are known as Señor Roar. This week they make a return to Australian imprint, onelove Recordings, with a wild four-track EP titled “Bang In The Club.” The boys are on fire as of recent, dropping off a huge single “Pop That” on NYC imprint Uprise Music which sat at Top 10 on Beatport for a month and got support from Annie Nightingale on BBC Radio 1 not to mention heavy support from Tchami at Coachella for their stellar remix of Blonde.

Today, they look to keep the momentum going with their lead single “Bang In The Club” a proper kick off for their forthcoming EP – it’s an absolute club weapon that blends Electro, Twerk elements and super hype vocal samples chopped up and sprinkled throughout. No matter what genre they deliver, the boys never disappoint. Stay up.

Even since deadmau5 finished his state-of-the-art home studio, he’s been uploading tracks like crazy. In fact, he couldn’t even take a break from producing when he embarked on his mau5trap bus tour, as the vehicle was equipped with an impressive setup. Earlier this week, Joel treated us with an amazing new song titled “4ware 01”. The tune is quintessential mau5 and I would be lying to you if I told you that I don’t have it on repeat. Now, deadmau5 has stepped away from his traditional style to experiment with some trap and twerk-inspired sounds (no, we’re not joking).

The Canadian has been known to play around with hip hop, but these works in progress are definitely different from previous examples. In typical deadmau5 fashion, his sense of humor can be seen in the titles, as Joel has named his latests projects “yoloswagbae”, “CthulhuTwerks” and “Name Your Track”. Listen to the songs below and let us know what you think about these latest ‘fuckmylife’ uploads.

David Guetta – Hey Mama (Club Killers Remix)

David Guetta is no stranger when it comes to having some of music’s finest hop on his tracks. The French producer has worked with artists such as Rihanna, Usher and Kid Cudi, but his song “Hey Mama” is not your everyday collaboration. Not only does the tune feature one of dance music’s biggest names in Afrojack, but it also includes vocals from Nicki Minaj, who is one of the industry’s brightest stars. With all that in mind, it’s no wonder why Club Killers felt the need to put their own spin on the track.

The Las Vegas natives live up to their name with this remix, as it’s definitely one that will ‘kill the club’. Their version doesn’t sound too different from the original at first, but that all changes when the twerk-tastic drop hits. There is no doubt that Club Killers’ rework of “Hey Mama”, which is set to be released through Big Beat Records, will induce some serious booty shaking, but only time will tell if it can compete with their extremely successful trap remix of Calvin Harris’ “Summer”.

This year’s Holy Ship saw massive back-to-back sets from Skrillex, Tchami, DJ Snake and Mercer, which resulted in the showcasing of loads of unreleased material from each artist. One of the most noteworthy track previews of the night was DJ Snake‘s new unreleased collaboration with Skrillex. Fortunately, an audio rip was able to capture the forthcoming moombah-inspired track with decent sound quality.

Their upcoming 100bpm track has a mellow, yet vibey introduction, but once the drum beat kicks in, it travels upward and into a drop filled with Skrillex’s signature influences and an unexpected twerk beat. The track’s surprising style and successful take on moombahton is a welcomed outcome from such an exciting production duo. DJ Snake and Skrillex were tour mates on the ‘Mothership Tour‘ and it’s clear that they developed some chemistry over the two months. There isn’t any information about the track’s official release yet, but we can only hope that it drops some time in the near future.

Diplo & Alvaro – 6th Gear (GTA Remix)

Get ready to twerk in high gear, as GTA has just released their remix of Diplo & Alvaro’s “6th Gear”, featuring Kstylis. Out now on the Mad Decent label, GTA’s remix of seems to be the most popular from the remix package, which also features reworks from ETC!ETC!, Ricky Remedy and more, bringing in over 400,000 plays already. While Diplo may take the spotlight when it comes to ‘twerk’, GTA does not fall far behind. These Miami natives have successfully established themselves within the dance music community, performing at almost every major festival not just domestically, but worldwide.

As expected from any song involving Diplo, the track features an invigorating, booty bouncing beat. GTA, whose remix is available for purchase here, gives this track a nice twist with a dirty drop that’ll have you wondering what’s coming next. If the song itself doesn’t seem to be enough for you, be sure to check out the raunchy music video featuring girls in leotards twerking their butts off.
