‘Hard To Be Around’ draws from the vocal trance and Eurotrance sounds that defined parts of the ’90s and 2000s, while giving them a modern, high-energy treatment.

Fast kick drums and driving basslines keep the track moving, while bright synths bring the euphoric side of trance to the forefront. At 143 BPM, there is very little downtime.

However, the track isn’t all about intensity.

Its vocals add a more emotional layer, touching on self-doubt and the complicated feeling behind being “hard to be around.” That contrast gives the production a darker edge beneath its high-speed energy.

For those unfamiliar, In Search of Sunrise has long served as one of trance music’s most consistent mix compilation series, built around the idea of tracking a night’s arc from dusk through dawn. Schulz took over the franchise’s yearly format as a warm-weather trilogy, with each volume standing on its own while building toward a larger dawn-to-dusk narrative across the year. The 2026 edition has already pulled in names like Above & Beyond, Joris Voorn, VER:WEST, JES, and Paul Oakenfold, alongside returning ISOS alumni Solarstone, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Kyau & Albert, Matt Fax, Jerome Isma-Ae, Kryder, and Daniel Wanrooy.

Where the series’ earlier chapters have leaned into widescreen melodic trance, Nocturnal Voyage pushes into darker, more techno-leaning territory. Schulz describes the mix as a deliberately linear listen — minimal key changes, no big peaks or buildups, with the focus placed squarely on groove and atmosphere rather than euphoric payoff.

“The Nocturnal Voyage is a bold step for the future of In Search of Sunrise, adding another dimension to the melodic progressive and trance sound that has defined the series; one that is predominantly late night and techno-leaning,” Schulz said. “The ethos with this particular journey was a linear approach, specifically to create a hypnotic atmosphere — very few key changes, no big buildups or peaks, but an emphasis on the groove and darker tone, all while harnessing the emotional core that still resonates within an ISOS terrain. Beyond mixing more than 50 tracks across the full 2026 run, Schulz has been building out a dedicated sonic ecosystem around ISOS itself. The series has become the launchpad for much of his Dakota project’s new output, with three fresh Dakota tracks debuting within the first half of ‘Nocturnal Voyage’ alone. He’s also introduced ISOS-specific aliases, including Aeridan and Shadow Assembly, whose track ‘Eclipse’ sits comfortably alongside the Dakota material.

‘Nocturnal Voyage’ is available as a standalone release starting October 7. On October 23, it will be folded into the complete 3-disc collector’s set alongside the series’ first two chapters, ‘The Awakening’ and ‘Nirvana,’ giving fans the full summer-long journey in one package. A limited-edition vinyl release is also planned.

Bose’s new earbuds connect directly through USB-C, allowing for lossless audio with minimal latency. That could make them particularly appealing for anyone who cares about hearing electronic music with as much detail as possible.

For EDM fans, that means cleaner bass, sharper synths and more detail in dense productions without relying on a Bluetooth connection.

Despite the retro-inspired wired setup, Bose has packed the earbuds with modern features.

Back in 1999—around the same time he launched his iconic label Armind—Armin used the Rising Star moniker to explore a deeper, more ethereal, and melodically driven side of trance production. Tracks released under this name, such as the timeless classic ‘Touch Me‘, became defining anthems of the early club era.

Over the years, Armin has selectively revived his historic aliases—most notably splitting his sound between deep underground explorations like Gaia and pure, emotive trance under Rising Star. Whenever the Rising Star project returns, it signals a deliberate step away from commercial radio sounds and a direct homecoming to the golden era of emotional, 138-to-140-BPM trance.

The Remix features an extended track with a longer breakdown; it adds another trance melody following the first chorus. The melody continues during the song into the drop. The additional trance melody pushes the Rising Star remix to 140 BPM. With the vocals of Poppy Baskomb, it gives a fresh take on the Red Hot Chilli Peppers classic.

It’s worth noting that ‘Magic’ also marks the first release under the downundr name — a new project from New Zealand songwriter and vocalist Jeremy Redmore. Redmore’s résumé includes five studio albums, four New Zealand Music Awards, platinum sales and more than 30 million streams, built across rock and pop before his recent pivot toward electronic music.

AVIRA takes the remix duties, reshaping ‘Magic’ for the dancefloor by pushing the tempo and intensity up without stripping away the emotional weight of the original. The Canadian producer has previously worked alongside Armin van Buuren, Chicane, Yotto and Joris Voorn, and his trance-infused touch is evident here, turning the track into a driving, floor-filling rework suited to Purified’s melodic techno leanings.

2026 has been a breakout stretch for Cavini more broadly. He’s played shows across the US, Europe and Africa this year, expanding his footprint well beyond his usual circuit. He also launched his own event series, Common_Ground, debuting it at Amsterdam’s Het Sieraad — a venue he’s described as personally significant — where he played an immersive six-hour set.

The single’s artwork features a cascading waterfall shot by photographer Stephen Walker, echoing the sense of movement and release that both versions of ‘Magic’ are going for.

Ferry Corsten is booked for a Saturday back-to-back, with his partner to be announced later. Giuseppe Ottaviani & Hypaton are also on Saturday, along with Talla 2XLC.

Friday leans on longtime trance names. Aly & Fila b2b John O’Callaghan puts three of them on one set, while Dash Berlin, Push, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Richard Durand and Ørjan Nilsen fill out the Friday program across four stages.

Saturday also brings newer pairings like NRG2000 b2b SUPERSTRINGS, plus sets from Key4050, Mark Sixma and Sarah de Warren. The brand confirmed its 2027 dates in August, and more artists and program details are still to come.
