Kyau & Albert – Trace

Have you lost yourself in a good trance song lately? No? Oh come on, give trance a chance! The German trance duo Kyau & Albert have released their new single called ‘Trace’. This short but catchy, melodic trance song features echo-y vocals that engender the feeling of longing and nostalgia, all while making you want to close your eyes and dance.

Lyrics like “all that I know, I follow the trace that you carved in the pathway. And all that I know, there’s nothing to lose on my way through the crossroads. Don’t disappear now, I’ll follow your footsteps into the twilight,” create a feeling of loyalty and dependence. The song indubitably falls on the more chill spectrum of trance.

Featuring vocals from Steven Albert himself, and an almost cinematic build-up before a light drop, this track is certainly one of those that paints a picture through the use of sound. The song is taken from the forthcoming 5th K&A studio album MATCHING STORIES.

Trace – Low (Alex Bandes Remix)

Based out of L.A., Alex Bandes is a recent student of the famed production school Icon Collective. While the he may be new to the industry with only two releases out on his Soundcloud, there is no doubt that nothing but talent comes from this guy, and his most recent release, a bouncy electronic take of Trace’s emotional track, Low, does nothing but prove this. Brimming with summer vibes that mesh flawlessly with a heavy, grinding bass line, Bandes’s remix brings the original track from a sentimental ballad to an energetic dance tune fit for any partying or windows-down driving you may be doing the rest of the summer. Be sure to check it out below and throw him some support with a like and follow!

Tommy Funderburk, a guitarist who has seen a lot of action on stage, having the opportunity to play with legendary acts such as Boston, Jimmy Page, and David Foster, sees piracy and peer to peer networking in a different light.

“I did not see that the answer to file-sharing was to try to sue the largest distribution platform that had ever been created,” Tommy said. “I don’t know how many businesses have been successful by suing all their customers.”

As Tommy began to understand the power of the most expansive distribution platform ever created, he set up a company called Muzit with a platform called TRACE. TRACE is the acronoym for “Torrent Reporting and Content Engine,” and is able to track peer-to-peer networks in real-time down to the postal code of the origin of the download.

That’s not everything the platform helps artists accomplish. It aids them in planning tours around where their music is being currently torrented selling merch, offering unique opportunities and building a relationship all at the same time. This has importance on many levels. For instance, Adele boasted the number one hit in the country the week of December 18th, however, Led Zeppelin was the most torrented in said week.

The way Muzit works is that it sends an opt-in email to the artists’ fans, and then and only then is their information shared. “We choose to work with individual artists who do not want to sue their fans” says Funderburk. “If you want to create positive relationships, then Muzit’s for you. If you want to sue your fans, there’s other companies that do that.”
