The software has a new engine that now achieves a truly revolutionary stem separation that is almost indistinguishable from author-made multi-tracks. Based on advanced Artificial Intelligence and Deep Neural Networks Machine Learning, VirtualDJ 2023 can extract in real time from any track its basic components: acapella, instrumental, drums, etc.

Stems separation in VirtualDJ already wowed most of the top DJs in the world, including David Guetta. However, the new ability of VirtualDJ 2023 to get studio-like stems quality without the need to have the source material, truly opens the door to a new way of DJing for all. For instance, Stems 2.0 engine gives you extraordinary clarity in acapellas. This can be achieved using the stems performance pads for instant isolation, or by gradually isolating the vocals using stems on EQ option. Stems 2.0 can also extract the instrumental only. Moreover, you can isolate just parts of it like the kick, snare, piano, and bass.

In addition to the ability to isolate stems, Serato Stems will add new effects, including a vocal echo, instrumental echo, instrumental braker, and drums echo. These effects can be accessed both in the desktop app and via the slicer or sampler performance pads on supported controllers.

Serato Stems requires a a bit of processing power, so it’s recommended for users with an M1 or M2 Mac. However, those with slower operating systems have the option to pre-analyze select files and drop them into a “Stems” folder in the crates sidebar. This will take care of all stem analysis in advance, rather than during a live set.

Serato will release more information about the feature once the full product is launched later this year. Until then, existing Serato users can test out the public beta here.

Little that we knew is the awesome backstory behind the remix. Subtronics shared on Twitter how John Summit helped him get his hands on the stems of the original track.

Obviously, Subtronics was really happy that John stepped in for him. The latter replied to his tweet in a very funny way.

It’s so great to see artists come through for one another like that. Maybe we will see a collaboration between the two greats in the future, which could be very interesting.

Full Crate & Mar – Nobody Else (Hotel Garuda Remix)

With minds set on throwing down an epic remix of one of their favorite tracks of 2k14, the boys of Hotel Garuda sought out the management of Full Crate and Mar in search of stems for ‘Nobody Else.’ Not only did they obtain the stems to produce said remix, but they were also offered a spot on the official remix package, and boy do they deserve it. The duo of Manila Killa and Candle Weather have taken the deep original to new depths, incorporating tasteful warpy synths and a dash of percussive flair that gives the track a Disclosure-esque vibe. Seriously though… this remix may be deeper than the Mariana Trench. Corny jokes aside, if you are in need of a daily deep beats fix, turn to no other than Hotel Garuda and their newest remix of ‘Nobody Else’ to alleviate all of your maladies.
