Space travel has been an elusive and awe-inspiring milestone that has captivated the human race ever since Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon. Only a select number of individuals have had the opportunity to transcend the boundaries of our planet’s gravitational pull. This magnificent yet limited phenomenon has continuously inspired Professor Stephen Hawking, who stated that it was his life goal to travel into space.

The enormously influential scientist stated,

“I have always dreamed of space flight, but for so many years I thought it was just that—a dream […] I never thought I would have the opportunity to see our beautiful planet from space, or gaze southward into the infinity beyond.”

Now, his dreams are finally coming true through the efforts of Richard Branson and his company Virgin Group. The VSS Unity will be the first plane to bring ordinary earth-bound citizens into space to experience this amazing adventure. Hawking himself narrated the VSS Unity’s introduction video, which appropriately uses Porter Robinson‘s iconic Worlds track, “Sea Of Voices” to create an inspiring and hopeful ambiance. Although a seat on the VSS Unity is currently on the market for a hefty $250,000, one day it will be hopefully become more accessible to the general public.

Porter Robinson has enjoyed much success from his second studio album Worlds, which was released in mid 2014. After promoting the album with a huge worldwide tour that featured live performances at numerous festivals, the 23-year-old DJ/producer from North Carolina has undoubtedly made his mark on the dance music community with this astounding work of art.

One of the songs on the album, “Sea Of Voices“, perfectly captures the essence of the work — emotional, beautiful and uplifting. This amazing piece has now entered the ranks of electronic music that has broken the barrier between mainstream pop culture and the EDM scene. Featured in the trailer for the latest installation of the Divergent series films, Allegiant, Robinson’s song helps to convey a mood of hope while amplifying the movie’s scenery. Although the movies, like most film adaptations of books, may diverge from the novels, it will surely receive love from fans of the film. Allegiant will hit theaters March 18.

Porter Robinson – Sea Of Voices (Galimatias Remix)

When Porter Robinson announced the Worlds Remixed album, fans went nuts. One of the big reasons is because of how undeniably stacked the list of contributors is. ODESZA, Sleepy Tom, Mat Zo (whose awesome remix of “Flicker” was just premiered last week) and many more have all put their signature spins on the album, making it an extremely special project. Today, Porter unveiled another remix from the album and it will definitely give you some chills.

“Sea Of Voices” was the first track to be released from Worlds, so it is only fitting that Galimatias‘ take on it is one of the first songs to be released from Worlds Remixed. Instead of attempting to describe the tune ourselves, read what Porter himself had to say about it:

“galimatias did something really special with this; he told me he intentionally wanted to go the exact opposite direction of the original. he went for something more casual, more funky – and it’s completely beautiful in an entirely different way.”

Listen to the “Sea Of Voices” rework below and be sure to score your copy of Worlds Remixed when it drops.

Porter Robinson- Sea of Voices (Ninth Parallel Remix)

Fans of Ninth Parallel have been waiting about a year for his ‘Sea of Voices‘ remix. It was September of last year that Ninth Parallel signed a contract to do an official remix for the first single off Porter Robinson‘s legendary Worlds album. Fans can now finally rejoice, as the finished product has finally come to fruition. The original ‘Sea of Voices‘ was an absolute masterpiece, as Porter Robinson constructed a dreamy, immersive soundscape with a powerfully beautiful climax. Who better to tackle this track than Ninth Parallel, the wunderkind responsible for masterful original songs like ‘Verloren,’ ‘Dare‘ and ‘Reentry.’

Ninth Parallel explains that he viewed his remake of ‘Sea of Voices’ as more of a tribute to Porter’s music than a remix. While Porter’s version develops slowly and methodically, Ninth Parallel builds the energy and emotion from the get go. This song will take you on an emotional roller coaster, complete with the intensely powerful joyful explosions that have become a hallmark of Porter Robinson’s music. Remixing such a brilliant song is damn near impossible, but Ninth Parallel pulled it off by impressively doing the original justice. While others like RAC and Social Status have remixed ‘Sea of Voices,’ Ninth Parallel’s version easily takes the cake.

Porter Robinson- Flicker (Mat Zo Remix)

Remember ‘Easy?’ Porter Robinson and Mat Zo dropped their hit collaboration back in 2013, which shocked the electronic music world with its stunning beauty and euphoria. Since then, fans have pined for more joint efforts from these two artists, as the two are good friends and even toured together on Porter’s Language Tour. This dream has now become a reality, as Mat Zo just remixed ‘Flicker,’ the fourth single off Porter Robinson’s ‘Worlds‘ album. The remix was premiered at Monstercat‘s Label Showcase event in Toronto, where Porter played a DJ set along with Pegboard Nerds, Grabbitz and Haywyre. Mat Zo himself had previously played the remix at Exchange in Los Angeles, when he played there on June 5th. The video of him dropping this live can be viewed here, although it only includes the second drop.

While there has been no word on any official release for Mat Zo’s remix, it is distinctly possible that it will be included in a remix package for ‘Worlds.’ When the album first dropped, a Remix CD was released which included highlights like Anamanaguchi’s remix of ‘Sad Machine‘ and Arty’s version of ‘Lionhearted.’ Since fans have been eagerly awaiting official remixes like Ninth Parallel‘s take on ‘Sea of Voices’ for almost a year, it stands to reason that there could be a follow up remix package to Porter’s groundbreaking album. In the meantime, you can enjoy a rip of Mat Zo’s drum and bass take on ‘Flicker’ below.

UPDATE:

We now know that this track will be a part of the Worlds Remixed album. Additionally, Porter uploaded the official version to his SoundCloud today and called it, “one of the best remixes i’ve ever gotten in my life.”

There is no denying that Porter Robinson may be the nerdiest artist in the world of electronic music (and we love him for it!), but we definitely don’t think he would be caught dead playing a hockey game. While he may not be the one holding the controller, Porter has found his way into the NHL 15 trailer, thanks to his magnificent song, “Sea Of Voices“. Electronic Arts debuted the video at E3 yesterday and it has already raked in over 450,000 views on YouTube. Although the game’s soundtrack usually features rock and metal tunes, this could be a sign that the franchise will be switching to a more diverse song selection. Porter’s highly-anticipated album, Worlds, is set to be released on August 12th and will feature “Sea Of Voices” as well as his new singles “Sad Machine” and “Lionhearted“.

In his Reddit AMA yesterday, Porter was asked if he approved of his song in the trailer and he responded:

Porter Robinson has unleashed his 3rd single off the highly anticipated album “Worlds” via Zane Lowe’s BBC One radio show as the “Hottest Record of the Week.” The single is a stark difference from both Sea of Voices, which sent people through a wave of emotions, and Sad Machine, which made people depressed for Porter’s future, and can be seen as the more commercially acceptable and radio friendly single off the album.  In keeping true to his anti-edm approach, Lionhearted is a mixture between 80’s electro and modern-day pop music in all the right ways. Urban Cole’s vocals are backed up by a simple piano tune that will have you tapping your foot along with the beat, and the proverbial ‘drop’ is a chill synthesizer progression that will have you reaching for the stars. It’s another hit for Porter, and another reason to count down the days until the album drops on August 12th. If you can’t wait that long, the single will be available for purchase June 17th.

Porter Robinson – Sea Of Voices (RAC Mix)
Label: Astralwerks | Release Date: March 18th, 2014

Porter Robinson’s latest original release, “Sea Of Voices,” surprised a lot of fans with its downtempo simplicity and long, building melodies. Those who were maybe expecting a little more energy from the track will really appreciate this remix from RAC, who incorporates some simple Indie-disco touches to give the tune a whole new feel. The euphoric melodies and beautiful vocals remain the highlights, but the cheerful, upbeat take seems almost like where this track was meant to go after Porter’s original ended. Take a listen and join us as we count the days til the release of Porter’s epic album.

Porter Robinson has just released his song “Sea of Voices,” which will be a part of his hyped upcoming album “Worlds.” He ventured to Twitter to express the importance of the album and his frustrations with the current electronic music scene.

Amongst the big room and trap records being released on a constant basis these days, Porter has always strived to create a fresh sound that has been untapped by producers. This therapeutic tune holds an emphasis on melody and effectively establishes a profound atmosphere for the listener.
