Welcome to the first weekend of August. In hopes of having a very well-rested one, here we bring you new music, in this case, an entire album. Albuquerque-based producer Alec Berve, also known as Man Cub, has just put out his album Before It Gets Better, a collection of soul-touching, highly melodic tunes.

This release comes after a string of recent Man Cub singles including ‘Phantoms’ and ‘Still A Light’. Before It Gets Better is the perfect dose of sweet nostalgia paired with strong Dubstep beats and four-on-the-floor segments, and will ease the mind of any electronic fan looking for peace, or hope. The album truly provides relief with all its purposeful elements well thought through.

I want to take the depth of purpose and feeling that music has given me, and create something new that
stirs those same feelings in others.

-Man Cub

Before It Gets Better

Filled to the brim with amazing collaborations and features, Luxtides, April Bender, Luma, Allie Crystal, Stirling, and Connor Byrne all make an appearance on the album. Across eight tracks, the emotionally charged electronic-pop piece will make you feel thoughtful and appreciate the complete journey.

From the very beginning of the opening track, ‘Beauty‘, you know it’s going to be a different story, one filled with positive emotions. Some explosive euphoric songs will lift you all the way out of your chair, while others are much more intimate and might make you close your eyes to enjoy them to the fullest. There’s something in the album for you, though. That’s granted.

Writer’s Pick

I felt an immediate connection with the third track, ‘Save Me From Myself‘. Luma’s sweet voice rode me kindly through the first sections of the song, before increasing in tension for the chorus. And, oh Lord, the change into the drop sent me flying. I’m a sucker for all things melodic so that drop truly lifted my spirit. It’s so beautiful I had to stop everything I was doing to appreciate the melody in detail. Beautiful. I also ended up liking ‘Still A Light‘ quite a lot, since it reminds me of the Trance style of Gareth Emery, chords and everything, like ‘Long Way Home’. And melodic Gaz popping up in my head is always a “yes”.

Check the full tracklist down below.

Final Words

Before It Gets Better is a true ode to finding beauty in the most unbelievable places. It makes you feel renovated after you listen to it, and draws a smile on your face a couple times. That’s a good indicator of music properly produced right there. Lovely.

This is my favorite festival, filled with great vibes, great music, and great views. At The Ocean View mainstage, indulge in the sounds of all things house. With Polo & Pan, Channel Tres, Phantoms, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (live) and more, this stage has plenty of room for dancing. At The Palms, things get funkier and groovier here. Check out Bedouin, Kavinsky, Purple Disco Machine, Seth Troxler b2b Eats Everything, and more. Now, the City Steps hold an all new lineup this year. Join Deborah De Luca, Maya Jane Coles, Umek, Ameme, Anfisa Letyago, and so much more, it’s going to be a party here.

With a minimalist footprint, various sponsor activations, and plentiful food offerings, CRSSD Spring is shaping up to kick the new year into high gear. Probably one of the first starting festivals of the year, attendees return to the amazing sunsets and ocean breeze. Grab your crew and strut in style in San Diego. Wishing for more after the event? Stay tuned for the after party announcements closer to the date. Check out the lineup and stay tuned for more details.

After COVID canceled Coachella 202 for Calvin Harris, he’s back in Las Vegas. This is his first time headling an American music festival since 2016. His long-await return has been much anticipated. Representing the EDM portion of the show are Alison Wonderland, Rehab, Gryffin, Said the Sky, Sonny Fodera, Solardo, and many more. Dancing Astronaut reports that due to a radius clause, these artists will be out for EDCLV. Nevertheless, both shows stand to bring spectacular performances and production that start and end the year right.

LIB stands as a music festival and so much more. Attendees can flock to seven stages, enjoy a roster of established and rising comedians, drag queens, and podcast hosts. They can peruse 18 blocks of gallery space full of immersive, multi-disciplinary art experiences from local, national, and global artists. The culinary talents there will give attendees a taste of cuisine and cocktails from over 70 local and regional restaurants, bars, chefs, food trucks, mixologists, and more.

Silent discos, lights, colors, sunsets, and the city that never sleeps is waiting for you. Celebrate what beautiful life is in a world that defaults to optimism. Where potential meets possibility and a world with equity in opportunity. Step outside your comfort zones, and come out and play. This is a music, arts, and culture festival like no other on the West Coast. Don’t miss a thing and sign up for your presale now.

It is a long list and a good one too. Every year, Insomniac, the HARD Summer corporate owner, never disappoints its festival-goers with their lineups. Also, they have many other artists in attendance that many of us will be dying to see. Below I have attached the full lineup for you to see. Now let’s dive deeper into this lineup.

B2B Sets at HardSummer

You can’t have an Insomniac lineup without the energy driving back-to-back sets. This year HARD Summer is giving us 4 B2Bs, 2 each day of the event. On Saturday, you have an RL Grime and Baauer B2b on the HARD Stage from 9 P.M to 10:15 P.M. For the 2nd Saturday B2b, they are giving us a G Jones and Eprom show at 11 P.M to 12 A.M closing out the Green Stage.

Sunday, if you’re at the HARD Stage for the closing set you will see DJ Snake and Malaa’s B2B. If you are not, make sure to catch Nitti Gritti and Wuki‘s B2B earlier in the day from 4:45 P.M to 5:45 P.M on the HARDER Stage. Back to Back sets are filled with two talented DJ mixes and combined transitions. They make for good switch-ups on your festival days and gives you a chance to catch not just one but two DJs at once. We strongly suggest adding at least one to your A-team list.

& For Special Sets

Special sets are a growing popularity amongst festivals. They are usually a special live set with live instruments, or a popular artist playing under a different identity, or even an artist playing a different genre or lower/higher tempo than their usual. HARD Summer is supplying us with 3 special sets other than the B2Bs. They are Skream!’s “Old Skool Dubstep Set”, Hulk Gang, and Bad Boys Club. In more detail, Skream!’s “Old Skool Dubstep Set” will be a set playing his style of old-school dubstep. If you are a fan of the oldies this will be a set not to miss.

Going down the list, Hulk Gang is a collaborative project between the likes of 4B and Valentino Khan. This is a killer duo between two well-known producer DJs. Ongoing, we run into Bad Boys Club, another collaborative project between artist Cray and GG Magree. These two ladies making up Bad Boys Club will be controlling the Green Stage between 7 and 8 P.M.

Between the B2Bs and the special sets, you have a lot to think about.

Set Times and Festival Closers

Set times have been released on the HARD Summer website and their social media platforms. We suggest saving a copy just in case the phone signal becomes a little iffy with the masses. Ranger Trucco, an up-and-coming house artist is the first set on the HARD Stage. His groovy set will give life to the festival for the weekend at 2 P.M. on Saturday. Saturday will end with a bang with closing sets from Future, Rezz, and the G Jones and Eprom B2b set. Sunday’s Main Stage will start up with Arius at the same opening time of 2 P.M. Closing the festival we will see sets from Kayzo, Skream!, and another B2b with DJ Snake and Malaa. Below I have attached both days for you to get a better look at the full set times.

Remember to grab a copy for your exciting weekend.

Hard Summer Location & Parking

Luckily, HARD Summer does a good job at supplying black and white info for its attendees, but we’re here to make it even easier for you. Hard Summer will again be at the NOS Events Center located in San Bernardino, CA. A massive venue that continues to have a long and solid relationship with Insomniac. If you need the address of the venue it is 689 S E St, San Bernardino, CA 92408.

In regards to parking, HARD Summer has supplied a detailed message on where to go here. Free parking for attendees will be adjacent to the venue and they have made it clear to NOT park in the surrounding neighborhoods. Also, Accessible Parking will be located near the VIP entrance off of Arrowhead Avenue. If you are Ubering, using LYFT, or any kind of drop off you will need to give your driver directions to NOS events center and tell them to follow the “Guest Drop-Off” signs. The same thing flies with being picked up. They suggest arriving early if this is the option you are thinking about.

If your hotel is part of the shuttle program or you are coming from Orange County or Downtown Los Angeles, HARD Summer is still offering shuttle passes on their website. You can find the city shuttle passes here and the hotel shuttle passes here.

Last but not least make sure to read through the parking lot restrictions and Pro Tips on the HARD Summer parking page.

Have a Safe HARD Summer

HARD Summer is one of Insomniac’s most popular west coast festivals and brings in thousands of fans from all over the world. It focuses on having fun, meeting new people, and of course seeing our favorite artists. In the midst of all the fun make sure to drink lots of water but not too much, watch for occasional bummy pickpockets, and look after all your fellow HARD Summer attendees.

See you there!

Just two days after performing at a sold-out show at Marquee New York, Galantis returned to the Big Apple to perform a second sold-out show at the Brooklyn Mirage. With supporting sets by Hook N Sling and the Phantoms, Galantis put on one unforgettable event. The duo played all their biggest hits to a delighted crowd who sang along and danced way into the AMs. As if there weren’t enough fireworks on the 4th already, pyrotechnics lit up the sky all night during the show. Performing tracks like ‘Bones‘, ‘We Can Get High‘, and classics like ‘Runaway (U & I)‘, Galantis had the crowd vibing until throughout their set.

In today’s dance music scene, often times, artists incorporate live instruments, gimmick tracks or special guests to stand out amongst other acts. While Galantis do use live instruments during their sets, the most impressive aspect of their show is the enthusiasm they bring with them each time they perform. This is such an important component of a show as the energy they project also radiates and transcends to everyone in attendance.

Galantis was announced to as part of the star-studded residency lineup of Wynn Nightlife for 2019. Alongside their Las Vegas residency dates, they are currently on tour with dates spanning until October already. Click here to see if the duo will be stopping by in your city some time soon.
