Ekali merely woke up one morning with an email that Drake had sampled “Unfaith” and was trying to get the sample cleared for release. He agreed, and the rest is history following that. Since then, Ekali has cleared up any misunderstanding of crediting on the song and had an indirect co-sign from Drake.

Although it may be a bummer that the plaque isn’t for his own track, Ekali has the opportunity to change that with his upcoming album.

Calvin Harris took to social media on Monday to share some previews of several tracks off his upcoming album, ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1.’ set to release at the end of this month. In this two minute twenty second clip, a parrot is in a tropical setting atop a record player working the needle to preview the tracks off the upcoming album.

We first hear a cut featuring Snoop Dogg and John Legend, before moving to a D.R.A.M., Schoolboy Q, Young Thug assisted track. The next preview is the Frank Ocean and Migos collaboration, ‘Slide’, that has been a huge hit this year having been named the best song of 2017 so far by Billboard.

Pharrell Williams and PARTYNEXTDOOR lend their vocals to a sure fire hit, before the parrot switches the song over to a Travis Scott and A-trak song before transitioning again to the Kehlani, Lil Yachty and Ariana Grande track. A funky preview featuring Big Sean and Katy Perry is played before the Khalid and Future featured, ‘Rollin’ is previewed.

The Nicki Minaj collab is quickly played before cutting to the Jessie Reyez and Takeoff song, which is the last of the previews. The 10 track album has at least two features on every single track forcing several genres to merge styles over Harris’ disco-sounding beats.

The previews all sound like they have elements of the old-school disco tracks that Harris used to make on his early albums like ‘I Created Disco’ and ‘Ready for the Weekend.’ It appears Harris is going back to his roots and giving it a modern swing by adding in various vocalists from all different genres of music.

Major Lazer – Run Up (4B Remix)

The song of the summer is without a doubt Major Lazers’ ‘Run Up’ feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR and the queen Nicki Minaj. It’s a record for clubs with a futuristic dancehall vibe to it…something progressive, something that feels like now. 23 year old Mad Decent producer DJ 4B recently decided to put his unique spin on the chart smashing song. The remix sounds like it drank a couple of cans of Red Bull, with a much faster BPM and pulsating Jersey Club drum programming. DJ 4B also has syncopated the vocals in the song to give it a more upbeat dance feeling. The second half is our personal favorite where he incorporates an infectious rave style melody behind the drop.

Hailing from New York, DJ 4B credits his musical influence to Diplo and DJ Snake among a few others. His first release was ‘Hold UP’ in 2013. Keep a look out for new releases in the not too distant future and maybe even a rumored record label. You can check out his tour dates here if you want to dance, and have a listen to the remix below!

This summer, Major Lazer released their hit collab “Cold Water” with Justin Bieber, which you probably hear on the radio every other three songs. Not to be distracted by the song’s success, the trio have been working on their upcoming album Music Is The Weapon, which, they say, will become the home of another undoubtedly popular collaboration.

The trio – Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire – announced at Sunday’s American Music Awards that the upcoming album will feature a collaborative track with Nicki Minaj and PARTYNEXTDOOR. While they didn’t spill any further beans about it, they did reveal it should be landing on January 6th.

Major Lazer has a long roster of collaborations with heavy hitters in the music scene, and it doesn’t look like they’re slowing down any time soon.
