Naples is where Capriati’s story starts, and the city has stayed central to his identity through a career that’s taken him to more than 70 countries across six continents. He came up helping shape the Neapolitan scene and has spent 20 years moving between minimal, house and techno, both behind the decks and in the studio, without ever really settling into one lane.

The lineup put together for the occasion says as much about Capriati’s taste as it does his standing in the scene. Honey Dijon, one of the more culturally significant and musically versatile DJs working right now, joins the bill alongside Chris Stassy, whose groove-driven house and techno sets have made him one of the more in-demand names on the current circuit. Josh Baker and Quest round out a lineup that covers a good stretch of underground house.

Capriati’s discography includes releases on CLR, Drumcode, Kompakt and Nervous Records, along with his own imprints Redimension Music and Metamorfosi Records. That body of work has earned him multiple DJ Awards titles, including Techno Master and Tech House, plus Vicious Magazine’s Best International DJ award.

The venue itself adds another layer to the night. Ex Base Nato is a former NATO military base on Viale della Liberazione in Naples, and its history makes it a fitting backdrop for a celebration built around Capriati’s own two decades of evolution.

The anniversary show also lands in the middle of Capriati’s Metamorfosi residency at Amnesia, which launched in 2022 and has grown steadily over the past four years. This year marks Amnesia’s 50th anniversary, making Capriati’s continued presence at the club that watched him rise feel less like a comeback and more like a full-circle moment for both the venue and his own career.

Tickets for the Naples anniversary event are available now via ticketsms.it.

The festival was scheduled to run on 4th and 5th July at its regular site — a former NATO base in the Bagnoli neighborhood of Naples — with a lineup that included GORDO and Ozuna. Footage circulating on social media showed the main stage structure coming down mid-build as a gust swept through the site, taking lighting towers and surrounding structures with it. No injuries were reported.

Organizers initially tried to find a way to proceed despite the damage, but local authorities stepped in and ordered the postponement. Alien Sound Festival will now take place as a single-day event on 23rd July, back at the same Bagnoli venue.

Tickets purchased for the original dates will be valid for the rescheduled show. Attendees who cannot make the new date can request a refund from 24th July through their original point of purchase.

In a statement, the festival said: “We know how much this situation may have caused inconvenience and disappointment. However, we would like to assure you that we did everything in our power to allow the festival to take place on the originally scheduled dates. We thank you for the trust, patience and support you continue to show us.“

A Growing Pattern of Weather Disruptions This Summer

Alien Sound joins a string of European festivals hit by weather-related disruptions in recent weeks. Last week, Dutch hardstyle institution Defqon.1 was cancelled outright due to an unprecedented extreme heat warning — a significant blow given the event had over 350 artists booked, including Brennan Heart, Showtek, Sub Zero Project, and Angerfist.

Earlier this summer, Primavera Sound was forced to cancel sets from Massive Attack, Doja Cat, Bad Gyal, and others after severe weather disrupted the opening day of its 2026 edition in Barcelona.

The Bagnoli site itself — a sprawling post-industrial waterfront area that has hosted large-scale events for years — is no stranger to the logistical challenges that come with open-air production. Whether the July 23rd window brings calmer conditions remains to be seen, but for now the show is back on.

Two members of the mafia were have said to recently shout, “Haven’t you understood you cannot use your siren here? Turn it off or we’ll shoot you,” at one of the ambulance drivers. Sadly, this encounter resulted in the ambulance not reaching a patient in time who was suffering a cardiac arrest.

42-year-old emergency doctor Manuel Ruggiero and community organizer commented:

“We have already been ordered not to use sirens in other neighborhoods, including Sanita and Traiano, where the locally based ambulance turns on its siren only after it leaves the area.”

According to the city, over 300 incidents like this have happened in the past three years. The most recent incident happened in the Spanish quarter.

Ambulance crews are now asking for police escorts to and from calls due to these instances. Perhaps it’s a bit of a backfire from what the mafia had originally intended.
