After COVID canceled Coachella 202 for Calvin Harris, he’s back in Las Vegas. This is his first time headling an American music festival since 2016. His long-await return has been much anticipated. Representing the EDM portion of the show are Alison Wonderland, Rehab, Gryffin, Said the Sky, Sonny Fodera, Solardo, and many more. Dancing Astronaut reports that due to a radius clause, these artists will be out for EDCLV. Nevertheless, both shows stand to bring spectacular performances and production that start and end the year right.

LIB stands as a music festival and so much more. Attendees can flock to seven stages, enjoy a roster of established and rising comedians, drag queens, and podcast hosts. They can peruse 18 blocks of gallery space full of immersive, multi-disciplinary art experiences from local, national, and global artists. The culinary talents there will give attendees a taste of cuisine and cocktails from over 70 local and regional restaurants, bars, chefs, food trucks, mixologists, and more.

Silent discos, lights, colors, sunsets, and the city that never sleeps is waiting for you. Celebrate what beautiful life is in a world that defaults to optimism. Where potential meets possibility and a world with equity in opportunity. Step outside your comfort zones, and come out and play. This is a music, arts, and culture festival like no other on the West Coast. Don’t miss a thing and sign up for your presale now.

Check out the full lineup below. Who can guess the two mystery artists?

It’s been a rough week for Rolling Loud, first with having five artists removed from the New York edition of the festival. Then co-owner Tariq Cherif came under fire from the EDM Twitter community for his comments targeting EDM festivals. But that’s perhaps nothing compared to the rough few months Hong Kong has had. With major protests taking place almost every weekend, many events have already been cancelled in the city. The latest among these cancellations is Rolling Loud Hong Kong.

Originally scheduled for the upcoming weekend (October 19-20), Rolling Loud Hong Kong would have been the hip-hop festival’s first foray into Asia. In collaboration with Live Nation Electronic Asia, the festival had invited major international acts including Migos, Wiz Khalifa and Playboi Carti. Other rising acts such as 3HO, GO$H and Young13DBaby were also part of the lineup.

An official statement released by Rolling Loud suggested that the cancellation was “not a decision that has been taken lightly” but that “it [was] not possible to organise the upcoming Rolling Loud Hong Kong edition as we had hoped without endangering the safety and well-being of our fans, artists, and staff.” Those who have previously purchased tickets will receive full refunds.

Since June, Hong Kong has seen a summer of protests that start with the city’s population demanding the withdrawal of a proposed extradition bill. That has since evolved into a movement for democratic freedom and autonomy from China. (Understandable, even Zedd got banned from the country just for liking a South Park tweet!)

What’s Next?

Sadly, because in many cases demonstrations end up quite violent, it’s no surprise that Rolling Loud was not alone in terms of event cancellations. Other events and live music shows such as Oktoberfest, a gig by CHVRCHES and another with Carly Rae Jepsen have been cancelled. More are to be expected.

There are still a few other festivals planned for the city before 2019 ends. That includes the widely anticipated Creamfields. The festival is scheduled to take place at the same location on December 28 and 29. We can only imagine EDM fans will definitely be keeping a watchful eye on any updates. Last year’s lineup included Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren and Alesso.

We hope for the best that the beautiful city will soon have its peace restored. Every city deserves its share of good live music.

Vestiville put out this statement to explain the situation:

On top of all the memes being created comparing Vestiville with Fyre Festival, some people also took to digging into the truth. Although it’s not yet confirmed whether the festival was a scam, it’s still important to look into the reliability of the producers as well as the people and companies behind events before attending. Oh yeah and JA RULE was booked to perform!

As if that wasn’t enough of comparison, look at this promo video for “Vestivillas” which sounds like a parody of Fyre Festival, complete with Cardi B impersonator.

People traveled far and wide for the promised lineup. On top of the ticket costs, they’ve spend lots of money for travel and housing. A part of what they paid for won’t be reimbursed. So hopefully VestiVille will at least refund to fans the costs related to the festival.

In light of everything that transpired at Fyre Fest and VestiVille, this is an important PSA to take note of:

The final season of Game of Thrones premiers on Sunday, April 14th. Winter is here, and Game of Thrones fans are clearly very excited. In a new Mountain Dew advertisement, The Chainsmokers, Migos and a handful of other GoT diehards put a new twist on the show’s famous opening song. Check it out for yourself.

🎵DEW DEW 🎵 DEW DEW DEW DEW 🎵 DEW DEW DEWWWW 🎵

Hardcore fans will also notice one of the names in the credits is “A Can Has No Name”. In conjunction with the commercial, Mountain Dew is also introducing a new, limited addition all-white can.

At room temperature, the can will appear completely white. But, once cold, the can will reveal a list with names crossed out, indicating that character’s death.

For those who have never seen the show – I am sorry, this is likely confusing. But for those who have, I think we can all agree that we cannot get enough of this hype.

Measuring a whopping seven feet tall and weighing in at over 300 pounds, Shaquille O’Neal AKA DJ Diesel is quite literally one of the biggest DJ’s on the planet. With that notable tidbit, it comes as no surprise that some of the world’s biggest electronic dance music heavyweight would want to join in on the related successes.

That said, the American retired professional basketball player has recently announced the lineup for Shaq’s Fun House, and let’s just say it’s not the EDM veteran’s dream event.  The mastermind behind the event has developed an intriguing one-day circus-themed event that will happen from 9 a.m. until 2 a.m., two days before February 3, 2019. Some may immediately have made the link, the carnivalesque event will be taking place right before the highly anticipated Super Bowl.

SunTrust Park’s Live at the Battery! will welcome special performances by Migos, Diplo, Tiesto, Lil Jon, T-Pain, DJ Irie, and of course, DJ Diesel.

This event pretty much sums up the state of mainstage EDM in 2019. If you would like to purchase tickets, keep it locked here.

Airing this past Tuesday for the 44th time on live TV, the AMAs suffered their lowest ratings of all time. According to Variety, the show drew a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.5 million viewers compared to last years 9.2 million. Is this really surprising? Not at all. The Grammys, a similar music award show, but with winners determined by the Recording Academy, also drew their lowest ratings recently. Even The Oscars back in March fell 19 percent and became the least watched of all time. Award shows used to be the thing friends gathered around the TV with bottles of wine and popcorn on Sunday to watch. What they’ve turned into, however, is just background noise.

On a positive note, EDM poster boy Zedd took the stage with hunk singer Shawn Mendes to perform a live rendition of Zedd’s ‘Lost In Japan’ remix. This, along with other performances from pop queen Taylor Swift, Cardi B, Post Malone, Halsey, and others, garnered a 135 percent sales gain, selling a combined 20,000 downloads, according to Billboard.

Some big winners of the night included T-Swift for Artist of The Year, Post Malone as Favorite Male Artist, and Marshmello for Favorite Artist – EDM *sigh*. It’s also interesting to note that somehow, Migos won favorite Pop/Rock group.

The demise of award shows could be a whole number of things, but honestly – who cares?

You can view the rest of the winners from the AMAs below.

“We are evacuating the island due to severe weather, Please exit the way you entered. Ferries and shuttles are running and the pedestrian bridge is open. Panorama has been cancelled for today and we will see you tomorrow.”

Music festivals are typically held outdoors, so naturally this may lead to some closures and cancellations due to severe weather. This has been evidenced by closures at the very same venue for other events such as Day 3 of Governors Ball in 2016.

Friday night’s cancelled schedule was to include performances by Dua Lipa, Migos, Jhene Aiko and headliner The Weeknd. At this point it is unclear if these acts will be added to the Saturday and Sunday schedules. The organizers for the festival have already begun damage control for Day 1 as the website for Panorama Music Festival already features information on refunds. More information about the event can be found here.

Wireless Festival was held on July 6 to 7, 2018 in Finsbury Park, United Kingdom. Although the lineup looked promising, with acts like Rick Ross, Rae Sremmurd, Lil Pump, Migos, Belly, French Montana, Big Sean among many more, there was one headliner that was missing from the picture.

Fans were left outraged when they discovered that the summer event had withheld the fact that they knew that DJ Khaled was not going to be present months before the festival took place, ultimately, violating the law for misleading advertisements.

The questions began to arise when fans took notice of a celebratory post that the American producer uploaded via Twitter, “Still on vacation!!!!!!!!” – all while the event was underway.

The team behind the fest’ quickly chimed in when speculations started to circulate online, stating,

Travel issues? MY MAN IS IN A SWIMMING POOL LIVING LIFE DID HE EVEN TRY

— Ags ✨🇱🇹 (@MissAgneP) July 8, 2018

The ‘I’m The One‘ musician was a key player in several partygoers’ overall decisions to attend the festival. Keeping this in mind, the organizers should have told the truth from the beginning instead of releasing the information mid-event as seen below.

We take responsibility for not telling fans sooner and want all Khaled’s fans in UK to know he truly looks forward to coming to UK to perform soon.

— Wireless Festival (@WirelessFest) July 8, 2018

Although they are being truthful now, many attendees do not believe that this act is enough. They have started to demand a refund for Sunday’s performances, stating that it is their right.

@WirelessFest you have broken the law and happily admitted to it, everyone with a Sunday ticket is entitled to a full refund!!! BY LAW pic.twitter.com/1CYzLpN0qO

— Áine (@Aine395) July 9, 2018

Despite the backlash, the festival delivered a stellar replacement, the one and only Drake! For the first time on stage, the Canadian superstar had unleashed several tracks from Scorpion, leaving fans distracted by the missing DJ Khaled. In our opinion, it’s an incredible replacement, and attendees should have been more grateful.

We look forward to seeing if the organizers will refund the Sunday ticket. We encourage everyone to truly reflect on everything that goes into putting on a fest’ and appreciate the memories that were made.

Breakaway hosted their first event of the year in Dallas back in April, which was a huge  success. Now they will return to their stomping grounds in Michigan and Ohio, and they aren’t messing around with two heavy-hitting events coming.

Firstly, the Columbus edition of the festival will expand to three days this year. Taking into account the number of events that are downsizing or disbanding as the market moves away from massives, this is quite a risk—one we hope will pay off for them in the end. The Midwest is an area of the U.S. that entertainment giants often overlook. With Breakaway the people of the Midwest have found a festival to call their own, and Breakaway is rewarding their loyalty with a top notch lineup.

Columbus will feature a superstar series of EDM, pop, and hip hop artists including Kaskade, Migos and Halsey as well as exciting up-and-comers like Chris Lake and Flatbush Zombies.

The lineup for Grand Rapids is no different with first-rate bookings like ODESZA, Flosstradamus, and Jaden Smith.

Breakaway Columbus will take place August 24-26 at Mapfre Stadium, and Grand Rapids happens August 24-25 at Belknap Park. Tickets & info for both are available here.
