Orhan has spent the better part of this cycle crisscrossing the globe, playing 50 dates across 20 countries. His catalog has racked up 396.3 million all-time streams, with a fanbase that stretches well beyond his native Turkey into Germany, the US, and a long list of other markets. ‘Get Down’ gives him a fitting bookend to that run, pairing his melodic instincts with Mercier’s deep house and Afro-infused production style. Mercier has built a name for himself as one of the go-to collaborators in that lane, with placements and remixes that have made him a fixture on festival lineups and in DJ sets worldwide.

Ultra Records also pushed out a handful of other new singles alongside the Orhan/Mercier release. CHYL dropped ‘Speed of Light’, a speed house cut built around 150 BPM energy and euphoric vocals. CHYL has carved out a niche with her bass-heavy call-and-response drops, and this one leans into that sound while chasing the breakneck tempo that’s become a defining trait of the speed house subgenre’s recent rise.

Also out now is a new take on a classic from yacht house mainstay Party Pupils, who remixed Looking Glass’s ‘Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)’. The original dates back to 1972 and has racked up more than 646 million streams over the decades, making it one of the more enduring pieces of American pop history. Party Pupils has made a career out of flipping yacht rock, disco, and soul staples into club-ready house records, with past remixes of Christopher Cross’s ‘Ride Like the Wind’ and The Doobie Brothers’ ‘What a Fool Believes’ picking up serious traction online.

’Three’

Rewinding the pulse of house music into something deeper and slightly darkened in its permutation, ‘Three’ moves with an ineffable sophistication. Across more than a decade, Mahmut Orhan has built one of electronic music’s most distinctive crossover catalogues, blending deep house, indie dance and global influences into records that travel far beyond the club. Recent releases have continued to broaden that palette, from ‘Transatlantic’ with ZHU to collaborations with Francis Mercier, KinAhau and Arodes, as Orhan continues to explore more melodic, emotionally driven territory. ‘Three’ feels like a natural continuation of that evolution. 

Felix Raphael

For Felix Raphael, whose own work has long blurred the distinction between producer, songwriter and live electronic artist, the collaboration feels equally natural. The Berlin-based producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist has carved out a distinctive place within melodic house through releases and collaborations with artists including Ben Böhmer, Tinlicker, Booka Shade and Oliver Koletzki, while also establishing his own label YION. His signature blend of organic instrumentation, live vocals and electronic production makes him a seamless counterpart to Mahmut’s increasingly expansive sound.

The setup is a purpose-built, 2,500-capacity site on Baku Boulevard, right on the Caspian Sea. It’s a joint effort between FOMO Baku, the Baku City Circuit and ticketing platform iTicket, timed to coincide with practice, qualifying and race day for one of the more unusual stops on the F1 calendar. The 2026 Baku GP has also shifted to a Saturday race for the first time, meaning Saturday’s closing set will kick off almost immediately after the chequered flag drops.

Thursday the 24th belongs to ANOTR, the Amsterdam duo known for blending rolling house with disco, funk and soul into extended, genre-hopping sets. Their sunset slot on the Caspian waterfront should give them plenty of room to stretch out as daylight fades over the water.

Friday the 25th brings Jamie Jones, arriving mid-season from his usual Ibiza residencies. The Hot Creations founder and Hot Natured member has spent the better part of two decades shaping the sound of Circoloco at DC-10, and he’s bringing that same energy — by way of his Paradise party brand — to FOMO’s outdoor setup ahead of race day.

The weekend wraps up Saturday the 26th with Mahmut Orhan closing things out on race day itself. Orhan headlined the final night of FOMO’s 2025 Grand Prix weekend and returns for a bigger outdoor version this time around, bringing his usual mix of melodic house and globally-inflected production.

A New Chapter for FOMO Baku

Anastasia Hajiyeva, co-founder of FOMO Baku, framed the move outdoors as a statement moment for the club and the city. “We didn’t want to just throw a party for Grand Prix weekend, we wanted to give Baku something it’s never seen,” she said. “APEX AFTER DARK takes everything FOMO has built inside the club and moves it out onto Baku Boulevard, right on the water’s edge, with ANOTR, Jamie Jones and Mahmut Orhan headlining three nights that’ll define the weekend. This is Baku stepping onto the map.”

Since opening in late 2023, FOMO has built a reputation as one of the region’s more ambitious electronic music venues, pulling in names like Adriatique, CamelPhat, Dixon, Âme, Pete Tong, Dubfire, Joseph Capriati, Gerd Janson and Adana Twins. The club runs on a d&b audiotechnik sound system paired with large-format LED production, and it’s become a fixture on touring schedules for artists who might not have considered Baku a stop a few years ago. Azerbaijan doesn’t have the same clubbing infrastructure as Europe’s established scenes, which makes FOMO’s growth — and now its move into open-air territory — notable for a region still building its dance music identity from scratch.

Return To Pangea

A culmination of Orhan’s diverse musical journey, Pangea blends together musical elements from a wide geographic range, fusing traditional instrumentation with modern dance music. Lending itself to the climactic nature of spine-tingling, dramatic techno, Orhan’s music taps into both the physical and emotional side of the listening experience with booming energy and stirring melodies. Tracks like ‘Nighter‘ and ‘Ederlezi’ reach the darker melodies, while ‘Pangea‘ and ‘Redemption‘ inspire with their beautiful harmonies. The album is a well-inspired and well-balanced success.

The vast range of featured artists on the album reflects Orhan’s vision of music being the connective tissue between starkly different cultures. Hence the title Pangea, which refers to the prehistoric supercontinent of Earth before it drifted apart. From Turkish stars like TUANA, Lebanese singer Ribale Wehbe, Berlin vocalist and producer Paul Brenning, to The Boxer Rebellion singer Nathan Nicholson, Orhan utilizes voices from all around the world. 

Beginnings

Orhan’s story as an artist began when he was growing up in Bursa. One day, at the retail store Orhan worked at as a teenager, a local DJ came in. He asked him to help set up equipment for a show. Orhan ended up working behind the scenes at clubs until he saw could provide further for his family by taking the stage himself as a DJ. The more he learned and played, the more he realized his true passion for music. Against the wishes of his family, who wished for him to have a more traditional career, he chose to pursue music full-time and would write his first hit, ‘Feel‘, in 2016. The track was picked up by Ultra, and Orhan would soon go on to become one of Turkey’s biggest dance music exports.

Mahmut’s sound has since resonated with listeners everywhere, amassing over 2 billion views on YouTube, 500 million streams on DSPs, plus a recent explosion on TikTok of #mahmutorhan receiving over 400 million views for his captivating performances behind the decks. In 2018, he was named GQ Turkey’s DJ of the Year. Last year, Mahmut performed on the main stage at EXIT Festival and stole the show. This year, he played the closing Zamna Tulum party, as well as shows in Miami, Paris, and Dubai.

Recap

The event ran 7pm to 7am Friday to Sunday (March 8-10) in a display of incredible dj sets. The crowd did not want to leave early whatsoever. On Friday, the production resembled a disco cargo ship, with crates and chains covered in mirror tiles that reflected the beautiful triangular beam of lights and lasers. Saturday felt like a portal into a mystical jungle, with a circular layout that was surrounded by luminous plants and mushrooms. On the last evening, the dancefloor turned into a romantic headspace filled with rose petals hanging around beautiful red fabrics. The decorations integrated nicely into the golden decadent environment that the nightclub normally offers. You only need a few minutes on the dancefloor to feel like you are not in the city anymore, but in the jungle, or by the beach, or into the deep desert, where souls continue to dance, honoring the earth.

The vibes were divine. Compared to the most recent Art of the Wild this past October, it was a less crowded which allowed for more space to wander around and tear the dancefloor. Moreover, this lineup felt particularly more melodic, and the amount of live/hybrid acts exceeded all expectations. Let’s checkout the highlight sets!

Highlights

We started the weekend hard and rowdy with a great set from Chicago’s underground princess Azzecca. Afterwards, Mahmut Orhan and WHOMADEWHO(Hybrid DJ set) showcased two very different yet powerful sets. Hugel was a standout Techhouse set that continued the energy into the early morning.

Saturday we had the ethereal experience that is Jan Blomqvist. His breathy vocals and deep melodies carried powerful beats. His set was then followed by the wizard himself Damien Lazarus. The Crosstown Rebels head captured the dancefloor with his genre-bending set, which gave lots of high energy points throughout the night. Funny enough, his set skipped an hour due to daylight savings so it felt like we traveled through time.

On the last night, the stamina remained intact, since it was just as packed as the other nights. On Sunday, we enjoyed the vigorous sounds of RÜFÜS DU SOL. The XS residents gave momentum for the closing sets of Colyn and DJ Fergie. Standout sets go to Jan Blomqvist. His song selection was top notch, and each song weighted a lot of emotions into very powerful beats that had us dancing nonstop. His set was deep, soulful, and fluid.

Final Thoughts

It paid off for the production team to change the event’s hours, and not include Encore Beach Club given the weather. This allowed attendees to rest during the day to party all night. Security was simple and there weren’t many long lines. Club staff was on point and lively. It also felt like the production value increased and they focused a lot more on decorations and lights. All in all, the event felt fresh, unique, and a great merging of rave and nightclub ambiance. we hope to be invited yet again for the 10th edition of Art of the Wild! Until then, Farewell!
