Palm Tree Crew has teamed up with the culinary heavyweights at Major Food Group and investment firm 8K Capital to officially buy River Vally Ranch golf course in Carbondale, Colorado.

Where is This and What’s the Vibe?

Tucked away in the Crystal River Valley-about 30 miles down the road from Aspen-River Vally Ranch is a sprawling 187-acre public course. Designed by Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Jay Morrish and famed by the massive, snow-capped Mount Sopris, it’s easily one of the most stunning places to play a round in the state.

While we haven’t made the exact final price public, the property was listed earlier this year for a cool $24.5 million.

So, what happens when a golbal EDM superstar and a world-renowned restaurant group buy a mountain course? You get a total reimagining of the traditional country club experience.

The new crew isn’t looking to tear things down or shut locals out. Instead, the plan is to leave the top-tier golf layout intact while completely upgrading everything else. They’ll be introducing Major Food Group’s high-end dining concepts and infusing the while property with Palm Tree Crew’s signature mix of music, style, and laid-back energy.

Honestly, this move makes perfect sense for them. Gold and Aspen have been baked into Palm Tree Crew’s DNA from the start. Between their annual Palm Tree Music Festival on Aspen and the star-studded celebrity golf tournaments they host all over the world, they’ve been bridging the gap between electronic music culture and country club styles for years.

This announcement also come right on the heels of their other massive property venture: Palm Tree Residences, a 480-unit luxury condo tower in downtown Miami that will feature a rooftop beach club and live DJ sets.

The company, co-founded by Kygo and his longtime manager Myles Shear has partnered with Major Food Group and investment firm 8K Capital to acquire River Valley Ranch Golf Course in Carbondale. The 187-acre property is located roughly 30 miles from Aspen beneath Mount Sopris.

River Valley Ranch is already an established destination. Designed by Colorado Golf Hall of Fame member Jay Morrish, the public 18-hole course measures 7,328 yards and plays to a par of 72. It also received recognition as one of Colorado’s leading public-access golf courses.

The property was reportedly listed for $24.5 million before the acquisition. However, the final purchase price has not been publicly disclosed.

They are not planning to develop a new concept for the course. Rather, the group plans to build around what is already there. Early plans combine championship golf with restaurants operated by Major Food Group, Palm Tree Crew events and year-round social programming.

The acquisition fits into a broader expansion Palm Tree Crew has pursued over the past several years. Kygo and Shear originally developed the company around music, artist management and destination events. Palm Tree Music Festival later expanded into multiple locations including the Hamptons, Aspen, Napa Valley and Hawaii. This paired electronic music with travel and hospitality.

River Valley Ranch gives the company something different from a traditional festival or nightclub. It creates a permanent destination that operates year-round, while still supporting live music and their expanding brand.

The acquisition further strengthens the company’s presence near Aspen, where Palm Tree Crew has previously hosted events. It will help to continue developing a connection with the region’s travel and hospitality market. As golf becomes increasingly connected to music, fashion and lifestyle branding, this move marks an exciting new future for Kygo and his business endeavours.

For now, River Valley Ranch is expected to remain publicly accessible, and the new owners have not revealed the full scope of their development plans. Still, the acquisition shows how Palm Tree Crew continues to evolve beyond its roots as a music and festival company. ‘Kygo Jo’ was originally recorded by the star player in 2016, alongside his Norway Under-17 teammates Erik Botheim and Erik Tobias Sandberg, who jokingly formed rap trio Flow Kingz. Kygo promised to drop a remix of the track if Haaland scored against Brazil, which he did in Norway’s 2-1 win last Sunday (5th July). The reworked version, featuring Haaland’s original vocals, was released on 7th July and has since shot to No. 1 on Spotify’s Norway Top 50 chart and has gone viral on YouTube.

‘Take Me Back’ is a song with Max Mcnown that is meant to take you back to 2016, literally, as Max asks “What were you like in 2016?“. Which just happens to be the year Eerling Haalland made his original rap video ‘Kygo Jo’.

A Callback to Ultra 2013

The duo initially teamed up to perform their own melodic collaboration, ‘Heaven On Your Mind.’ but the energy completely shifted when Kygo Pivoted into a surprise tribute to the late, great Avicii. The second the iconic chords of ‘Hey Brother’ started ringing out and Dan took the mic, the nostalgia was heavy.
