Head Trip Lightning Alert

The Goldenvoice two-day festival took attendees back to Coachella grounds, inside the Empire Polo Club, this past weekend, October 10 and 11, 2026. However, inclement weather warnings had started throughout the week. As a result, Calvin Harris set had to be postponed when a thunderstorm hit the grounds Saturday evening. His set was rescheduled for the following evening. This pushed the itinerary past its schedule by about 30 minutes. Swedish House Mafia still closed the festival, however.

Under normal circumstances, the city of Indio could fine the festival $1600 per minute after curfew. But given weather conditions and the itinerary changes, Indio ultimately did not fine Goldenvoice. Gracefully, Swedish House Mafia completed their set after Harris’ nostalgic makeup set.

The festival served as a nod to early 2010s electronic music, with headliners such as Skrillex, SWM, and Calvin Harris. Furthermore, more contemporary artists joined the lineup, including Peggy Gou, Dom Dolla b2b Kettama, and Under Construction (Fisher & Chris Lake).

When the Desert Decides to Test You

Mother nature, however, had an entirely different set of plans for Saturday night. As Fisher and Chris Lake took the decks for their Under Construction b2b, the energy on the polo fields was electric. People had settled in, the bass was shaking the palm trees, and the anticipation for Saturday’s headliner, Calvin Harris, was boiling over. Then, the gusts of wind came, followed swiftly by a sudden downpour. Lightning flashes cut across the desert mountains.

Midway through Under Construction, the sound cut. Stage managers and safety teams had no choice. Lightning in the immediate strike zone meant pulling the plug. For a festival crowd that had traveled from across the country, watching the screens switch over to an evacuation notice was an absolute gut punch. This was especially painful with the timing of midway through ‘Turn Off The Lights’. Calvin Harris never got to take the stage Saturday night.

Masterclass in Festival Operations

This is usually the exact moment when festival debuts fall apart in horror stories of stampedes, stranded shuttles, and gridlock chaos. Yet Head Trip’s logistical machine deserves massive praise. From the second the weather hold was called to the moment thousands of rain-soaked ravers funneled toward the exits, the evacuation was calm and textbook. Staff handled the crowd flows with clear directions. In addition, security kept lines moving steadily. Safety messaging across social feeds/their app and on-site screens was immediate.

Even better, I heard there were virtually no nightmare traffic bottlenecks outside of the normal crawl you expect when leaving a massive event like this. Attendees were safely back in shuttles, rideshares, and on the camp grounds. From what I could tell, this happened within an hour or two after the rain and storms got worse. It was frustrating to lose the rest of Saturday. However, Goldenvoice protected the crowd without treating anyone like an afterthought.

A Sunday Morning Miracle and Roster Shuffle

When festival-goers woke up on Sunday, the storm clouds had completely vanished. In their place was crisp desert air, spotless blue skies, and news that sent every group chat into a frenzy. Calvin Harris wasn’t going home. In a massive scheduling Triumph, organizers reworked the entire Sunday timetable to squeeze Calvin into prime time. They slotted him directly before Swedish House Mafia closed out the weekend. The collective relief rippling through the valley was palpable.

Sunday threw one more logistical curveball when The Blessed Madonna was forced to bow out of her scheduled time slot. Rather than scrambling or leaving a gaping hole in the day, the festival brought over Peggy Gou to take her place. This was a seamless pivot that set the tone for an unforgettable bounce back.

The Music: From Sun-Drenched House to Dubstep Wonderland

By the time the polo fields reopened on Sunday afternoon, the vibe had transformed from disappointment into pure, unhinged joy we are used to at a music festival. Peggy Gou kicked things off with an irresistibly bubbly, sun-drenched set that instantly shook off the previous night’s damp chill. Her breezy house selections and buoyant grooves got everyone smiling, moving, and locked back into the festival spirit.

From there, Dom Dolla and KETTAMA stepped up and laid down an absolute clinic in tech house. Their back-to-back delivery brought gorgeous rolling basslines and punchy percussion. Also, there was an unrelenting bounce that kept the entire field moving as the sunset painted the San Jacinto mountains in deep purple and orange. At one point, I even had a drink with the one and only Chris Lake on stage during their set.

Then came one of the most iconic producers out there, Sonny Moore. Skrillex completely hijacked the desert and dragged every soul on the grounds straight down the rabbit hole into a full-blown dubstep wonderland. He chopped between skull-snapping bass, classic underground bangers, and frenetic edits that reminded everyone why he remains one of the most unpredictable, exhilarating forces on a festival stage. The sheer kinetic force of his set turned the grass into a massive dust cloud of moshing and collective disbelief.

Calvin Harris Throws Down the Heavy Hitters

Because he was sidelined by Saturday’s lightning, Calvin Harris stepped onto Sunday’s stage with a point to prove. The man did not hold back. He dug straight into his bottomless catalog of world-stopping anthems, unleashing track after track of certified dance music history. From ‘Summer’ and ‘Feel So Close’ to his heavier club edits, he had tens of thousands of voices belting out every single lyric in unison. It was relentless and euphoric. Furthermore, it was loud enough to shake the Coachella Valley. Hearing that arsenal of stadium hits delivered back-to-back under open desert skies made Saturday’s cancellation feel like a distant, faded memory.

Swedish House Mafia Bridges the Generations

When the lights dimmed for Swedish House Mafia, the weekend reached its emotional peak. Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello stepped into their closing duties with the kind of cinematic grandeur only they can command. They took us straight back to the golden era of progressive house, firing off soaring songs from both their older catalog and new ones alike. These are songs that defined a generation of ravers and gave us festival anthems that many DJs play or remix for their own sets. Standing under the towering rig, arms locked around friends both old and new, the fields became a sea of shared emotion. As the familiar chords of ‘Save The World,’ ‘Heaven Takes You Home,’ and ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ reverberated through the night air, you could feel the entire crowd exhale together.

Head Trip began with lightning, rain, and heartbreak, but finished with pure joy and full of memories for 90,000 people. It was a weekend that proved that when production, logistics, and legendary selectors align, even the nastiest hurricane-force storms cannot stop the tireless work put in by the promoters and staff alike. Their commitment made a great show for the history books.

The North American dates cap off a massive year of live milestones for Harris. Harris has spent more than a decade turning out records that straddle pop radio and club culture, racking up over 56 billion global streams, two UK No. 1 albums, 11 UK No. 1 singles and 31 UK Top 10 singles along the way. His recent run has kept that streak alive — ‘Blessings’ with Clementine Douglas peaked at No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart and became his 31st UK Top 10 hit. Patrick Topping, meanwhile, brings his Hot Creations pedigree and tech house sensibility to a festival better known for leaning bass and mainstage.

These new additions join a phase one lineup that already included Beltran, Bunt., Chris Lake, Eli Brown, I Hate Models, ISOxo, Kettama, Levity, The Masquerade, Max Dean b2b Luke Dean, RØZ, Slander, and the Crankdat b2b Wooli pairing billed as Wankdat.

The Disclosure set is the clear centerpiece of the phase two reveal. The UK duo of Guy and Howard Lawrence have become festival New Year’s Eve staples in recent years, and a countdown set from the pair gives Decadence Arizona a marquee moment to close out 2026 heading into 2027.

Festival Details and Tickets

Now in its twelfth year, Decadence Arizona is produced by Relentless Beats in partnership with Global Dance, and bills itself as the country’s largest New Year’s Eve festival experience. The two-night run takes place December 30 and 31 at Phoenix Raceway, with organizers promising the return of the festival’s Weird and Wonderful performers alongside expanded production and grounds activations.

Two-day tickets are on sale now across General Admission, GA+, VIP, and Platinum tiers, with pricing starting at $300. Table reservations are strictly 21+, though the festival itself is open to anyone 18 and older. Skyline has built its reputation over the past five years by pairing globally recognized house and techno names with the artists shaping L.A.’s underground scene. The 2026 lineup leaned into that formula hard, bringing in Richie Hawtin, Ben UFO, Avalon Emerson, The Blessed Madonna back-to-back with HAAi, and Marco Carola back-to-back with Chris Stassy, alongside VTSS and KI/KI. The festival’s Arts District stage, meanwhile, stayed true to its community roots with sets from Juliet Mendoza, Victor Rodriguez back-to-back with Perfect Lovers, Mez Monty, CQUESTT, and Mesmé.

Ace*Mission proved to be a solid match for Skyline’s identity last year, and the festival is doubling down on the venue for round two. The industrial property, split between open-air space and warehouse interiors, sits on what used to be the Anderson family’s beverage distribution operations in Boyle Heights before the site was converted into production studios and creative offices.

For 2027, Skyline is expanding its indoor footprint with a second warehouse stage, while also bringing back its vinyl market spotlighting local L.A. record shops. The festival’s four stages — West Side, East Side, Arts District, and Downtown — return for another year, with Resident Advisor once again hosting one of the stages. Organizers say the weekend will run more than twelve hours of music per day across over sixty artists, with official afterparties planned inside the Ace*Mission warehouse. Details on those afterparties, including ticketing, will come closer to the event.

Two-day GA and two-day Stage Access passes go on sale October 16 at 12pm PT. Fans looking to jump the line can sign up for the SMS presale, which opens earlier that morning at 11am PT. Skyline Festival is a 21+ event.

Factory 93’s Warehouse Roots

Skyline falls under Factory 93, Insomniac’s house and techno imprint that traces back to 2016 and the Naud Street warehouse space in downtown L.A. That project helped introduce North American festival crowds to artists like Solomun, Hot Since 82, and Hawtin at a point when house and techno were still finding their footing stateside. The brand expanded in 2018 with its first multi-stage event, Secret Project, and now extends its reach through the neonGARDEN stage at EDC’s international editions, a branded stage at Sonus Festival in Croatia, and Skyline itself.

Insomniac, led by founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella, has spent more than three decades building out its festival portfolio, from Electric Daisy Carnival to Beyond Wonderland and Nocturnal Wonderland, while also pushing into new formats like residencies at the Las Vegas Sphere. Skyline remains one of the company’s more scene-specific projects, aimed squarely at house and techno heads rather than the broader festival crowd Insomniac’s bigger brands tend to pull in.

The opening comes just months after Pacha New York launched its open-air venue this past summer, giving the brand a second, year-round home in the city. This new indoor space takes over the former Great Hall, a venue with deep roots in Brooklyn’s underground scene, now retrofitted with upgraded sound and lighting while keeping its industrial bones intact. The idea is to keep things intimate — a room built for proximity between the booth and the floor rather than a cavernous mega-club experience.

Friday’s lineup leans into global techno and house heavyweights. Loco Dice, the Tunisian-German DJ who’s been a fixture of the Ibiza and Berlin circuits for two decades, headlines alongside Italian techno figure Ilario Alicante and HoneyLuv, the Detroit-raised, LA-based DJ who’s become one of house music’s faster-rising names over the past couple of years.

Saturday shifts the focus entirely to New York’s own dance music lineage. Nervous Records turns 35 this year, and the label is marking the milestone with a lineup featuring Louie Vega, Oscar G, Anane, Will Automagic of The Carry Nation, and an unannounced surprise guest. Founded in New York in 1991, Nervous has put out more than 5,000 releases over its run and remains one of the longest-running independent dance labels in the country, with a catalog that helped define house music’s sound well beyond the five boroughs. Bringing that anniversary back to the city where the label started gives Brooklyn Pacha’s debut some real local weight.

With both venues now running, Pacha’s New York footprint covers two different formats — the open-air space for larger productions and Brooklyn Pacha for tighter, club-style nights. Together they give the brand a steady year-round presence in a city where warehouse parties and indoor residencies don’t always coexist easily with outdoor summer series.

Reporters Jordan Kissane, Joe Roetz, and Matthew Garcia, all explained that Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will allocate that extra $10 million in revenue to reinstate late-night bus routes. Furthermore, Mayor Levine Cava will also amend a plan to end free Metromover rides except for students, seniors, and disabled residents. She’s expected to raise the Metromover fare to $1 per ride.

How This Could Affect Ultra

The Metromover is perhaps one of the biggest transportation perks of Ultra. The festival takes place at Bayfront Park each year. Tens of thousands of ravers arrive and leave the festival via the Metromover. This potential change may cause heavy bottlenecks for concertgoers at the end of each night, as they would have to scramble to pay the fare instead of walking up to the platform.

There is no official timeline for when the raise will take place. Miami-Dade commissioners have been trying to implement the Metromover fee for years but have not been able to sort out collections for it. Nonetheless, 7News clarified that the Mayor will begin multiple outreach campaigns to inform residents if they qualify for free or subsidized services once the price hikes go into effect. Let’s hope Ultra will be a weekend where they don’t enforce any fees.
