Joyce Muniz, producer, selector, vocalist, and a name that is bringing the heat to all corners of the globe. The buzz around one of Austria’s brightest exports is real and if you are not familiar allow us to introduce you.

Brought up on the ‘Sound of Vienna’ and enjoying a hugely successful partnership with GStone, her work as vocalist on her own, plus an array of industry stalwarts’ productions has resulted in Joyce leading the way as one of the main players of the new generation of Vienna.

It is little wonder then that, in a mere 3 years from her entry into the house scene, Berlin’s and London’s top labels Exploited & 2020 Vision would come knocking. The union would bring about Joyce’s first knock-out tune “Party Over Here”, to critical acclaim from both the industry & fans alike. A string of standout releases followed, with “Back In The Days” showcasing Joyce’s natural ability to pair the right vocalists with the right tracks, and insta-classic, groove-filled “Warriors” on Exploited and “Sleepless” on Warung Records. Remixes for the likes of Steve Bug, Munk, Shonky, Stereo MCs, on esteemed labels such as K7!, Pokerflat, Get Physical and Gomma, have served to further cement Joyce’s standing in the scene.

The U.S. got their first taste of Joyce’s prowess last month when she came to Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles and absolutely blew the roof off the place. Stealing the show, she kept the place packed until close with her sultry sounds and energetic persona. Now she’s back with a fire guest mix for our friends over at In.Deep and features her current remix of Paul C & Paolo Martini’s “Tears for Fears” out on 8bit.

Simply labeling her as ‘one to watch’ doesn’t seem fitting in this instance, with industry support from heavy-weights Richie Hawtin, SKREAM and Maya Jane Coles, but you would be a fool to take your eyes and ears off the talent that is Joyce Muniz.

The blogosphere, always quick to pick up and milk something until its no longer interesting, has been all out repping L.A’s show scene for the past few month, but for good reason. The city is the epicenter of new talent in dance music these days, undoubtedly. However, even with all of the new talent popping up, taking up turf all over town, there’s still time for the veterans and main players to make their claim. In steps house veterans Jody Wisternoff and Martin Roth. The Anjunadeep stalwarts will take to the decks on May 21 at Los Angeles’ Sound nightclub for what should be one of the more memorable parties of the week, even in a town always anxious for new talent. The show is being produced by one of L.A’s up and coming promoter companies, InDeep and L’Affaire Musicale.

Indeed, Jody Wisternoff is a legend in dance music. His partnership with Nick Warren as Way Out West helped pave the way for progressive house as we know it today. His solo career and A&R prowess has helped shape Anjunadeep, along with its brightest stars, Lane 8 and Lancelot. Label mate Martin Roth is held in similar regard – the Ministry of Sound resident DJ owns the 4th best selling progressive house track of all time on Beatport – a remix of Minx X’s ‘Sensation Sneakers’.

Tickets for the show can be purchased here.

Download Toneden Mobile

If you’re an artist in the dance music community, chances are, you’ve heard of Toneden. It’s a fantastic platform that utilizes Soundcloud uploads and transforms them into a gorgeous and unique web pages on the Toneden network. Everything from sharing tracks with fans and other producers, follow-to-download features (absolutely massive in an age where the amount of followers an artist has is a direct reflection of their success and/or quality, for better or for worse), as well as advanced metrics to help track growth. Plain and simple, Toneden helps artists grow.

That’s exactly why their announcement of an app for Iphone devices is huge. Let’s face it -everyone is on the move these days, especially artists. Being able to comfortably utilize all that Toneden has to offer via the simplicity of a mobile app is a game changer. In the face of massive streaming services failing miserably, the Toneden app is one that works off of an existing, stable platform (Soundcloud), and adds the ability to coherently interact with artists and friends and get music in front of you, that you actually care about listening to.

Needless to say, if you’re a fan of dance music, you’re going to want to install this today.

The Toneden mobile experience will center around the inbox, where users will receive music right when it is uploaded by artists they follow, or friends whose taste they trust. Every track comes with a personal message from the poster, giving every user a definitive reason of why this particular track is being shared. This simple feature cuts down on garbage uploads and reposts, and instead, focuses on quality material from trusted sources. Users will even be able to save the track for later listening, and share it to friends and followers, creating an interconnected network of material. The best part? All of these shares and plays re-route back to the artist’s Soundcloud page, making it worthwhile for the artist in terms of the need to meet metrics standards.

In celebration of the release of Toneden Mobile, our homies at InDeep have also released a mixtape by upcoming DJ/producer, Christian Laurien. You can check out the mix below, or, download the Toneden app and find it there -it will be trending!

Fresh off his debut EP: Beginnings, Swiss wunderkind Several Definitions (Keith) is poised to make some heads turn in 2015. Rising out of the shadows for the first time in 2014, Several Definitions wasted no time getting to work. Last year was marked by numerous accolades including: being signed to the respected Knee Deep in Sound label, an EP of his own, and recognition from the likes of Solomun, Green Velvet, and Hot Since 82 himself who named Several Definitions “a good call for 2015”.

Keith hails from the shores of Lake Geneva in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. At the age of 8 Keith received a drum set for Christmas and began his journey into musical production. He began taking lessons and playing formally for 6+ years while he solidified a basic musical foundation. Hip-hop was an early influence of Keith’s as he enjoyed scratching and turn-tabilism with his friends growing up. Equally skilled and ambitious, he completed his first original production by the age of 18. As he continued to explore the realms of electronic music, inspiration was found in deeper house and techno sounds. For Keith, “loss, love and joy are the feelings that give him the greatest inspiration.”

This week he joined our friends at InDeep to put together a proper podcast. “His productions are intense and full of various sounds, all built on a line of percussions. Warm atmospheres, captivating melodies and catchy beats, the mix is just perfect.” So sit back, get comfortable, and take a journey through musical spaces with Several Defintions, via his recently released InDeep mix.

Often times Thursday is seen as a trial day for both artists and clubs. It allows the artist to play some different songs and judge crowd reaction. It allows the clubs to bring in acts that maybe are not as big named as those who play in the club on Friday or Saturday. In either case, it is rare to go to a club show on Thursday and be truly blown away by what you saw that night, but that is exactly was happened to me at Sound Nightclub in LA last Thursday. The event, which was thrown by the up and coming production company InDeep out of Los Angeles, featured an incredibly impressive and diverse lineup featuring Hotel Garuda, SNBRN, Dr. Fresch, Matt DiMona, Rambo V, and The Interns.

Doors were scheduled for 9:00 but did not end up opening until around 9:30, and as the first fans entered the club they were greeted by The Interns and then Rambo V, who both did a terrific job of playing the role of an opening DJ. An almost universally unappreciated art, they both took care to play deep house sets that progressively built the energy of the room so that by the time that Matt DiMona took the stage at 10:30, the already near capacity crowd was in weekend mood on a Thursday. Dropping his brand new remix of Maroon 5’s ‘She Will Be Loved’ right out of the gate, the hour that Matt played was filled with his own house remixes of pop and rap songs, really playing to the energy of the crowd in attendance. It was also during Matt’s set that one of the first big surprises of the night happened, with Dr. Fresch and SNBRN, less that an hour before their set, walked through the crowd with two 70 inch pizzas from Big Mamas and Papa’s Pizzeria, helping to refuel those in attendance, trying to make sure they had enough energy to make it till the 4:00AM close. A little gift from the promoters to the fans, it was a unique gesture and one that was definitely appreciated by those lucky enough to get a slice.

Following their side gig as pizza delivery men, SNRBN and Dr. Fresch took the stage at 11:30pm for what was supposed to be a B2B set, but instead turned into a massive combined set for the two best friends. Feeding off of each others and the crowd’s energy, the two friends launched into an hour and a half of high energy pure house music, ranging from. One of the most memorable parts of the evening was when they played SNBRN’s newest single, Raindrops, for what was announced to be a sold out crowd on Thursday night. Around 1:00am, SNBRN and Dr. Fresch gave way for the last planned performer of the evening, Hotel Garuda. Usually comprised of Manila Killa and Candle Weather, this Hotel Garuda performance featured only Candle Weather, but that did not stop him from delivering a classic Hotel Garuda set. Much more of the minimalist than SNBRN and Dr. Fresch before him, Hotel Garuda brought the crowd back to the deeper side of house music. Playing for an hour, one of the highlights of their set was when they dropped Boogie Vice’s ‘Bel Air’, a remix of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song, which has been a staple of their sets for months.

Despite the fact that Hotel Garuda finished their set at 2:00am, the show was scheduled to go until 4:00am, which means that there was still something special in store for the fans. And those that were still there were not disappointed when Mija, Skrillex’s protege, and Ghastly took the stage for the surprise late night set. Compared with the upbeat deep and electro house that had been played for most of the eveing, Mija and Ghastly brought with them to the decks their own unique style of dirty and bassy house, including their collaboration, ‘Crank It’ featuring Lil John. The two young guns closed out the night in style, hitting the decks until close.

Overall the night had to be classified as a massive success no matter who you were. For InDeep, to put together a lineup such as this and then sell out the show was no small feat and deserves a tremendous amount of praise. For the DJs, it was obvious they were having an amazing time playing for the sold out crowd with some of their best friends. And finally, for the fans, the chance to see this amazing lineup for only $10 to $20 had to be considered a steal. A huge shout out to our friends over at DUBS for keeping us protected from one of LA’s most advanced sound systems with the help of their state of the art ear plugs. Here’s to having more Thursday nights like this in the future, because this one will be hard to beat.

It’s been quite a few weeks since our last InDeep Sessions, and we apologize for that. However, it was primarily due to us releasing a flurry of mixes from some of our favorites artists, Matt Lange and Nora en Pure. No mix this week, so, we’re back to a playlist, and InDeep Sessions 32 is just as delightful as the ever popular session 31.

Some things of note in InDeep world primarily revolve around our humbly successful presentation of Matt Lange at Slake this past weekend. Playing the night before Above & Beyond took the stage at ABGT100, the crowd was full of Anjuna fans, coming out in full support to watch Matt play for slightly over two hours in a dizzying spectacle of techno and deep house. Check out a review of the show over at LessThan3, which featured it within their ABGT weekend overview.

Featuring the best in underground, melodic, and tropical house music from the past few weeks, this is the only playlist you’ll need to fuel your weekend. Some of our favorite tracks of October buoy the top half of InDeep Sessions 32, including Bearson’s gorgeous ‘Let It Go’, Bender’s remix of Dirty South’s ‘Unbreakable’, and an Addal edit of ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’. Tube & Berger, Vijay and Sofia Zlatko, Doorly, Destructo (S/O G House), Chi Tanh, Toddy Terry, Harry Romero, Guy J, and Club Killers also feature.

Sit back, grab a beer, grab your friends, and enjoy 20 of the hottest tracks in underground house right now, with InDeep Sessions 32.

My Digital Enemy Feat. Lizzie Massey – To Dust (Original Mix)

My Digital Enemy is releasing music left and right these days (check out an interview our buddies over at InDeep did with them a few weeks ago here), and now they’ve raised their 2014 game another level with an official release on Toolroom Records. Original mix To Dust is vintage MDE, featuring a powerful drum rack and aggressive low end bass play, while a howling top line -courtesy of Lizzie Massey- adds a noticeably deep twist. The growling bubbles of the bass line lend themselves perfectly to peak time novelty, and ‘To Dust’ is clearly produced for just one purpose: setting fire underneath a dance floor.

In essence, ‘To Dust’ -and My Digital Enemy’s primary style in general- is undoubtedly real house music’s answer to EDM’s big room fanaticism of 2014, and boy is it a good one. Blissfully and elegantly utilizing elements of traditional house music and transforming them to be just a little bit bigger, My Digital Enemy’s brand of house is something the U.S WILL fall in love with. Check out the full mix down of ‘To Dust’ below, courtesy of EDMTunes and Toolroom Records, and don’t sleep on My Digital Enemy. Be sure to also purchase the single on Beatport.

Nora En Pure, the vivacious South African producer/DJ who has taken the European house music ranks by storm, debuts for InDeep with what has to be one of our favorite mixes of the fall. Nora is without a doubt one of the scenes brightest stars, unleashing an eclectic story within her mixes, perfectly blending that new age, melodic, German house with peak time offerings from the tech house/ techno sub genres. And the world has surely noticed. She’s had the honor of providing the infamous Bloes Brothers mix series with a gorgeous hour of music earlier in the year, on top of releasing one of the year’s standout melodic house tracks, ‘True‘. Nora is now gearing up to take her highly sought talents across to the pond to the States, and InDeep is extremely honored to help facilitate, while EDMTunes is just glad to pass along great music. Without further delay, we present, Nora En Pure. One hour of proper house music. Three IDs, two from Nora, and one from EDX.

Enjoy.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past few months, you are no doubt aware of the festivities taking place at Madison Square Garden this weekend. Above & Beyond are hosting their annual ABGT party, in honor of their 100th episode, and it is shaping up to be one of the premiere “do not miss’ concerts of the year in dance music circles. Not only that, but the trio have announced the title of their new album today, We Are All We Need, only adding to the thick layer of anticipation to the evening. With so many Anjuna fans in town, what better way to get things started than with one of Anjunabeat’s longest tenured and beloved artists, Matt Lange. He will be on the decks at Slake NYC the night before, on October 17th, spinning a show presented by our good friends over at InDeep.

Matt Lange is undoubtedly one of dance music’s most gifted producers, lathering his compositions in thick wafts of detail, emotion, and appeal. Capable of dialing up anything from progressive house to techno, his New York City performance will not be one to miss, for Anjunabeats fans or dance music aficionados alike. Making this show even more special is the presence of Bender, one of future house’s fastest rising stars. The bold New Yorker is quickly becoming a headlining act himself, and it is an obvious treat to be able to catch him opening in front of Matt Lange at this point in his blossoming career. The combination of the two will provide hours of dance floor fire, deep into the New York City night. Mr. Lange is also from New York City, and the double homer bill is something the city need to get excited about. Purchase your tickets above, and we’ll see you at Slake this Friday. While you’re at it, listen to the stunning Matt Lange mini mix, exclusively through InDeep:
