The album also doubles down on collabs, they are out of this world. Music legends such as Beck, Robert Smith and The Rocketman himself Elton John appear in the new album. The list goes on with St. Vincent, Schoolboy Q and EARTHGANG.

One of the key aspects of this new album is the way in which it was created. The tracks inside the album contain their own essence and rhythm, but there’s a catch. When mixed into only one song, they create a perfect match with each other. This was used to create the mixes that each member of the band released with their own particular touch.

The band demonstrates once more that they are one of the most inventive and creative acts there are. The melodies, the vocals, the lyrics, everything fits perfectly as part of a magnificent jigsaw puzzle. Each track creates the perfect ambiance for the featured artist to shine in their own style without losing the basic essence of Gorillaz. The variety is something only they can achieve to have in an album while maintaining a similar style so every song feels like it belongs there.

The Pink Phantom-Gorillaz, Elton John, 6LACK

Just when you thought you heard it all. The crossover nobody asked for, but everybody needed. 2D singing duo-style with Elton John is everything you might imagine, EPIC. The track is just magic from start to finish. The rap touch by 6LACK combines perfectly with Gorillaz’ sweet electronic rhythms. Listen to it here. I’ll be waiting for you on the other side.

Opium-Ft. EARTHGANG

This next track is more of a personal favorite and also one of the most uniques. The tune feels like an instrumental until about half of the song which creates an amazing build-up. The beat drops with vocals by 2D and EARTHGANG hypnotizing your ears while the rhythm takes you dancing. This one is DEFINITELY a must hear. Listen to it here.

Gorillaz has been hitting us with some great tracks with their new Song Machine LP’s but here is the finishing touch. Looks like Murdoc just dropped a mix which includes small parts of every track, and some we haven’t even heard yet. In the same fashion as his bandmates already did. Could this be the new album’s teaser trailer? It is AMAZING how the tracks merge with each other in Mud’z Massive Machine Mix.

The song also comes around right next to the announcement of a Gorillaz’ movie, which could further extend the adventures of the band. The last few singles have dropped some instant hits and this comes as the final piece. The other 3 Song Machine Mixes are already out, you can go listen to those here. It is a really interesting take on the new tracks having them fuse into these mixes. This is a new level in Damon Albarn’s genius.

Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez, the band’s Seventh Studio Album will be released on October 23rd 2020. Anxiety enters our bodies as this seems later than sooner, but we’re almost there. Friday is the long-awaited date so be on the lookout for this! Go check Mud’z Massive Machine Mix down here.

The virtual band Gorillaz are back with the second episode of their ‘Song Machine‘ through ‘Désolé‘ featuring Fatoumata Diawara. In tandem, the fourth and fifth ‘Machine Bitez‘ saw their release among the package.

Throughout the year, Gorillaz will be releasing tracks from their Song Machine concept. So far, this track and ‘Momentary Bliss‘ featuring Slowthai and Slaves received uniquely playful videos. With little information regarding what it’s meant to represent or portray, the virtual band’s drummer, Russel Hobbs, remarked on the topic.

“Song Machine is a whole new way of doing what we do, Gorillaz breaking the mould ‘cos the mould got old. World is moving faster than a supercharged particle, so we’ve gotta stay ready to drop. We don’t even know who’s stepping through the studio next. Song Machine feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos. So whatever the hell’s coming, we’re primed and ready to produce like there’s no tomorrow.”

Press Release

As of this moment, the Gorillaz don’t have a tour planned, but their releases certainly aren’t stopping anytime soon. With that in mind, keep your eyes peeled on their website for any updates or show announcements.
