David Guetta posted on Instagram a picture of him and Calvin with the caption: “I could tell you what @calvinharris was telling but he got me very excited !!!! 😈😈😈.” The two met up while at the 2022 Miami Grand Prix.

Tiesto commented on the post: “We need that collab between you guys!!🔥🔥” Nicky Romero also replied urging collaboration between the two.

Calvin Harris has been building anticipation around his new Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2. Snoop Dog has already been teased as a feature on the album. Calvin loves a good tease and it seems the French DJ is next. This will be the Scottish DJ’s first album since 2017.

David Guetta has been having an incredible last few years. It feels like every week he is dropping a new track. His Future Rave movement with Morten has made waves in the industry. He also recently won iHeartRadio’s Dance Artist Of The Year.

Make sure to stay tuned, and we can’t wait to hear what a track between Guetta and Harris could sound like.

In the original clip, you could clearly hear Snoop saying: “Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, I’d like to welcome you inside the Snoop Dogg, Calvin Harris experience”.

As you know, the list of collaborators for Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1 was nothing short of amazing.  The album included names like Frank Ocean, Migos, Young Thug, Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj. Well, it seems like Harris is going to do it again.

Calvin Harris and Snoop Dogg already worked together in the past. In fact, they released ‘Holiday‘, alongside John Legend and Migos, on Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1. This snippet of Snoop and Harris working together again raises speculation about the collaborators on Funk Wav BouncesVol.2 even higher.

Surely, Harris seems to be very excited by his work. Last Friday, he said on Twitter that Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2 was “the maddest album I’ve ever put together by a lonnnggg way”. We still have a lot to discover about this album, but we should get more pieces of information like this in the upcoming weeks from the star DJ.

Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2 will be the sixth studio album of Calvin Harris. However, it will be his first in five years – his last one being the first volume of Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1, which arrived in 2017. The album, which featured collaborators including Frank Ocean, Migos, Young Thug, Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spent 42 weeks on the chart.

Since Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1, Calvin Harris did not release many songs under his name. Last year, he released ‘By Your Side’, with Tom Grennan. In 2020, he started a new house project, called Love Regenerator. Harris also produced ‘I Heard You’re Married‘ from The Weeknd’s latest album, Dawn FM.

It’s gonna be a busy year for Calvin Harris, as he is set to play a large stadium show in Glasgow in July as well as slots at EXIT Festival, Sziget, Creamfields South, and Beslonic in addition to the release of Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2. Fellow artists and fans can’t wait to see what’s next for the British superstar.

“Vol 2 is gonna be mad,” Harris said.

That could only mean Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 is coming – although it hasn’t been confirmed.

Released in summer 2017, Vol. 1 featured collaborations with a laundry list of famous artists outside of dance music including Ariana Grande, Frank Ocean, Future, John Legend, Katy Perry, Kehlani, Khalid, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams, ScHoolboy Q, Snoop Dog and Travis Scott. The sound was a mix of upbeat funk and hip-hop, and was stylistically unlike Harris’ other work at the time. His shift at the time to more mainstream genres including rap and 80’s boogie drew both support and criticism from his fanbase. Vol. 1 remains one of Harris’ most successful releases, garnering more than two billion streams. “Slide” with Frank Ocean and Migos, and “Feels” with Pharrell, Katy Perry and Big Sean, together account for 80% of that.

Vol. 2 Hints

Harris has not dropped any hints on who may be collaborating with for his possible Vol. 2. But American pop singer-songwriter Charlie Puth late last month may have provided a clue.

“Me and Calvin Harris made a f***in really good song,” Puth tweeted.

There are also rumors of collaborations with Madeon and SG Lewis, based on them replying to Harris’ original tweet. Again, Harris has given no official confirmation of a sequel to Vol. 1, much less a release date. But it’s safe to say fans can hope for it in the future, especially with his tweet in early February that he’s “just getting started.”

Harris went on Twitter to respond to fans. Of course, someone asked about new music. Harris responded, stating that new music can be expected in a couple week.

For genre, we can expect something different than the style we typically associate for him. However, he hints that it may be a sound that other artists may have done.

2020 is off to a good start with this news. It’ll be exciting to see what Calvin Harris returns with. Perhaps it may be another Grammy winning release.

When Calvin Harris began producing club records decades ago, it was likely far from his mind that he would be hailed as one of the bigger pop-music producers to date. Having worked on collaborations with everyone from Arianna Grande to Rhianna, its safe to say that he has made a lasting imprint on today’s popular music.

The height of this sound came to its apex with his hit song “Funk Wav Bounces Vol 1″, which basically can’t be considered dance music at all. But in his latest tweet, the Scottish producer hints that all that is in his rearview mirror. Abandoning the elements of pop and hiphop that has staked his claim throughout 2017, it can be hard to tell whats on the horizons based solely off of this cryptic tweet. Perhaps all of the flak he has taken from our community has finally gotten to him.

But whatever comes out of the mind of Calvin Harris we know will be on repeat. His knack for infectious melodies and rifts is there no matter what he is producing. We can not wait to see what 2018 holds for this megastar. Here’s hoping for some actual dance music again!

Many were critical of Harris (born Adam Wiles) for including so many features on the album because the result was a hip-hop and pop album, rather than a true dance record like Harris’ earlier music. Well, those critics have been appeased, and can now listen to the album sans any pop and hip-hop lyrics. The production on ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1’ is undeniably very funky, and each production is absolutely worth listening to stripped down of vocals. Harris uploaded each instrumental track to his YouTube account, and you can listen to all of them below. Tell us what you think; do you prefer the album versions featuring the likes of Future, Pharrell, Frank Ocean and Migos, or the stripped down instrumentals?

Of course we don’t need to talk about who Calvin Harris is. Twitter’s favorite DJ/producer and singer/songwriter has finally come out with his fifth album ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1‘. This album was in the pipeline since the start of the year when Calvin announced his big plans for 2017. Calvin has chosen an alternate music path as of now with a stark difference from his earlier projects.

‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1‘ clearly shows that Calvin has shifted more to the popular side of music with genres like hip-hop, 80’s boogie sound and rap that has his fans and the critics divided.

‘Slide,’ ‘Heatstroke,’ ‘Rollin,’ and ‘Feels’ are the four tracks from the album that were released beforehand. These four tracks boast superstars such as Frank Ocean and Migos (‘Slide’), Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande, and Young Thug (‘Heatstroke’), Future and Khalid (‘Rollin’), and Big Sean, Katy Perry and Pharrell once again (‘Feels’). These tracks are more on the dance music side than the others.

A look at the artist names will have you asking yourself: how many phone calls did Calvin Harris make in order to get this blockbuster line-up? The album includes Calvin featuring some heavy names from the pop industry like Future, John Legend, Nicki Minaj and everybody’s favorite rapper Snoop Dogg.

‘Holiday’, which features Snoop Dogg and John Legend, is one of three tracks that saves the show for the Scottish producer. It is a neat and a peppy number with a unique rap element. ‘Skrt on me’ featuring Nicki Minaj is a lively song as well that may gain some early fans on the circuit. Lastly, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and Big Sean come together for ‘Feels’. This track sounds like a derivative from the 80’s boogie music and very similar to Jazzfunk at some points.

All in all, the ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1‘ has received a number of negative reviews across various social media platforms, though we leave its quality up to you to decide. Check out the track previews below, and let us know what you think.
