Trouble in the Land of Bad Royale?

Over the past year, Bad Royale have exploded onto the scene. They’ve released EP’s and singles on Diplo’s Mad Decent label, toured around the country playing at major festivals, and have done guest mixes for the likes of Diplo and Friends and Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy (1.25). But everything doesn’t seem all that great in the land of Bad Royale.

Today on Twitter, Bad Royale posted a picture with the caption “New us, who dis?” with only three members shown in their cartoon caricatures. This of course started a bit of a frenzy as their fans began asking questions as to which member left- or got kicked out- of the hugely popular group. Bad Royale was intentionally very ambiguous and vague in answering fans, but a couple fans began throwing out the name Maor Levi. It’s not confirmed as of yet whether or not the trance producer is the odd man out, but only time will tell.

This seems to be a new trend going on in the trap world. Recently Flosstradamus and LOUDPVCK announced that their groups would be splitting up due to the members wanting to do their own thing. Bad Royale looks like they’ve done the same. Although they aren’t splitting up, the group seems to be going in a different direction. We’ll make sure to provide any updates as the days go on. In the meantime, you can check out the twitter post below.

Showtek (feat. Freetown Collective) – Amen

Armada’s Dutch duo Showtek released a brand new single this week. ‘Amen’ takes you on a trip to the Caribbean while giving social commentary on the world’s political unrest. They teamed up with Trinidad and Tobago’s band Freetown Collective for the new song. Showtek departs from their traditional style and goes for a Reggae ballad this time. ‘Amen’ is a peaceful song that has the vocal melody as the focal point. The soothing melody is intertwined with a powerful and provoking brass interlude. Believe me, you’ll be singing along with this one.

Freetown Collective has previously worked with Showtek and Major Lazer on the hardstyle song ‘Believer’. The new single is part of the duo’s New EP also entitled ‘Amen’. You can expect to here it on their ‘AMEN’ North American tour this fall with tickets going on sale on July 27th. Take a listen to the melodious song on Soundcloud below.

Sander Van Doorn & Gregor Salto – Tribal (Preview)

As EDM artists continue to push the boundaries of progressive house, Sander Van Doorn and Gregor Salto show us yet again how these limits can be further innovative with their latest collaboration “Tribal.” The track features a third world sounding drum loop, infused perfectly into a percussive buildup that eventually leads to another one of Sander Van Doorn’s all too familiar big room sounds accompanied by a fierce synth lead.

Following his release of “Cuba Libre,” a tech house track combined with Caribbean influenced rhythms and vocals; Sander Van Doorn has further separated himself from his main stage counterparts. However, this isn’t the first time Sander Van Doorn has experimented with a tribal sound. 2015 saw his release of “Ori Tali Ma”, a tribal house track complimented by African chants and rhythms. Now taking the sound one step further, these two bold collaborators may have created an infectious tropical sound that may very well seep into the main stages of festivals abroad!

If you like what the preview has to offer, stay tuned for “Tribal” to be released in its entirety via DOORN records later this month on April 25th.
