This marks the first East Coast edition of Vibee and Insomniac’s hotel takeover concept, which has previously run around EDC Las Vegas. The idea is straightforward — turn a resort into a fully branded EDC home base where guests can crash between sets instead of trekking back to a random Airbnb at 4am.

What’s Included Beyond the Parties

Margaritaville Resort Orlando will get the full EDC treatment, with themed decor in common areas and guest rooms, exclusive merch bags, pop-up DJ sets and surprise experiences scattered throughout the weekend. This teaser surfaced just before Skrillex and Boys Noize reunited as Dog Blood during their electrifying performance at the Portola Music Festival in San Francisco on September 26, the annual house and techno festival held at the Pier 80 venue in the city’s Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood. The German-Iraqi producer, DJ and composer has announced 7LLVSION, his first solo album in five years, arriving November 6 via ONES and ZEROS.

The announcement comes alongside the album’s first single, ‘1+1+1’ featuring rising Rotterdam artist ZEP, giving listeners their first taste of what Boys Noize has planned for the project. The single is available now and is also listed on Boys Noize’s official discography.

7LLVSION follows Boys Noize’s 2021 solo album +/- (Polarity), making the upcoming record his first full-length solo release in five years.

Boys Noize Kicks Things Off With “1+1+1”

For the first preview of 7LLVSION, Boys Noize teams up with Dutch producer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist ZEP.

‘1+1+1’ blends an aggressive, shifting EBM bassline with a frantic new-wave-influenced rhythm, moving between raw industrial energy and the dance floor.

ZEP brings an equally unpredictable vocal performance to the track, moving between snarls, shouts and melodic moments as the production continuously changes underneath him.

The collaboration is our first indication that Boys Noize isn’t exactly easing quietly into his next chapter.

‘1+1+1’ is out now, while 7LLVSION arrives November 6 via ONES and ZEROS.

7LLVSION Brings Some Serious Collaborators

The complete tracklist hasn’t been revealed yet, but the album will feature collaborations with Brutalismus 3000, Taichu, Maya Alkhatari, ABRA and ZEP, among others.

The announcement arrives during an especially busy period for Boys Noize. Over the past year, Alex Ridha has continued moving between his solo work and collaborations while maintaining a packed international touring schedule.

Now, he’s taking that momentum back into his own catalog.

Boys Noize will also spend the coming months on the road, with appearances at Portola and CRSSD, ONES and ZEROS label takeovers across Europe, and upcoming sets at EDC Orlando, Factory Town Miami, Beyond the Valley, Field Day and more.

He always bridges heavy industrial underground textures with massive pop moments, keeping his independent sound ahead of the curve. The collab behind the ‘Shut It Down’ remix was an inevitable one as both artists roots come from in Berlin’s underground rave scene. It is without a doubt that their styles instantly connect over their shared love of rave energy and raw, analog hardware. The rework, ‘Shut It Down,’ features Argentine artist TAICHU and German producer Taube. As a leading voice in the modern nu-trance movement, Funk Tribu blew up global dance floors with his breakout classic ‘Phonky Tribu’. Putting these powerhouses together yields pure fire for the festival circuit.

The Sound Design

Funk Tribu transforms the original’s gritty energy into a soaring, hyper-kinetic hardgroove weapon, but what truly sets this remix apart is the electrifying collision of styles you wouldn’t expect from either artist. The remix kicks off with rapid-fire 140+ BPM percussion and a rolling, rubbery hardgroove bassline that instantly sets a high-speed tempo, but Funk Tribu injects his own flavor with a series of cheeky metallic fills that reference his Colombian roots.

Unique to this rework is the unexpected acid line that weaves through the middle section, giving the track a raw, ravey edge that stands out compared to previous Boys Noize or Funk Tribu releases. Funk Tribu isolates TAICHU’s vocals, looping pitched-down phrases alongside distorted chants of “shut it down” to stack high-octane tension, and listeners at early DJ sets have gone wild for the jagged, stop-start breakdown right before the final drop. Mid-track, the arrangement takes away the heavy drums, allowing TAICHU’s lyrics to float over lush synth pads before building into a frantic snare roll. A final bright, 90s-inspired trance synth leads slice through the mix as the track drops into pure, euphoric bounce driven by thunderous kick drums and sharp off-beat hi-hats.

Kraftwerk Berlin, housed in a former power station, serves as the venue for Contra’s first iteration. According to the announcement, the environmental design will be handled by Paris-based studio Matiere Noire, “whose spatial intervention will reshape the monumental scale of Kraftwerk into intimate atmospheres, while dissolving distinctions between light and sound.” The studio has previously worked on scenography for luxury brands including Courrèges, MM6, Cartier and Chanel.

The timing is notably tight — the event is happening in just 10 days from the announcement. Tickets are currently available for purchase.

While Contra’s future forms remain to be seen, this Berlin debut represents Skrillex’s continued expansion into curated experiences beyond traditional touring. The producer has upcoming festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Dekmantel, Boomtown, Sziget, Austin City Limits and Head Trip, the new Goldenvoice concept happening on the Coachella grounds in October. That Head Trip lineup also features Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Peggy Gou, Four Tet, Dom Dolla, Kettama, The Blessed Madonna and Ben Sterling.

Contra marks another ambitious project from Skrillex as he continues to push boundaries in both music and experiential events. The Berlin launch will serve as the first glimpse into what this new creative platform has in store.
