The lineup for the finale weekend includes a 12-hour open-to-close set from Deep Dish, plus club residents Ragie Ban, John DiMatteo, and Shorty, a sunrise performance from Victor Calderone, and a closing set from Brothers Macklovitch — the DJ project from A-Trak and Dave 1 of Chromeo.

Refuge was founded by promoter John DiMatteo and sound engineer Craig “Shorty” Bernabeu, and the 500-capacity room in East Williamsburg/Bushwick has built a reputation for going against the grain of modern nightlife. There’s no VIP section, no bottle service, and the entire operation is built around sound quality rather than table sales.

The venue draws its blueprint from rooms like Paradise Garage, The Sound Factory, and Space Ibiza — spaces known for marathon sets and crowds that stuck around for the music rather than the scene. Refuge’s sound system is a custom four-point REX analogue rig, built in collaboration with acoustic engineer Al Fierstein.

Before the 72-hour finale gets underway, Refuge still has a handful of dates left on its anniversary calendar, including stops from Two Shell, Chris Liebing, and Ahadadream. The finale weekend itself will spread across both the main room and the club’s newly built outdoor courtyard, covering day parties, sunrise sets, and deep afterhours programming.

Deep Dish opens the weekend on Friday, September 25th with their marathon set. Saturday, September 26th belongs to DiMatteo and Shorty alongside Ragie Ban and some still-unannounced guests. Victor Calderone, a New York techno mainstay and Refuge resident, takes the sunrise slot on Sunday morning before Brothers Macklovitch close out the celebration Sunday night.

New SoundCloud Channel Launches With Troxler and Calderone B2B

Alongside the anniversary festivities, Refuge has also launched its own SoundCloud channel dedicated to archiving live sets recorded at the club. The channel kicks off with a previously unannounced seven-hour back-to-back session between Seth Troxler and Victor Calderone, recorded during a late-night afterhours set at the venue.

Full set times, entry details, and the rest of the programming for the anniversary finale are available through Refuge NYC’s website and Instagram. For a club that’s made its name on long-form sets and zero-frills nightlife, a 72-hour marathon feels like the natural way to mark year one.

One of the world’s largest gatherings year-round is about to begin. Tomorrowland is getting its doors ready for an impressive congregation of ravers and music lovers, for the usual two weekends in Belgian grounds. All artists and stages are already written down and posted for everyone to have a look and decide where to be at, and at what time.

But it is super overwhelming. Given the amount of DJs playing at all times, we’ve decided to break it down and pick our top sets for each day of Weekend 2. So, if you’re heading over to Tomorrowland and your brain is melting a bit from too much info, sit down, relax, and read on.

Here are our top sets you cannot miss this weekend at Tomorrowland, in no particular order.

Friday

Swedish House Mafia

Mainstage — 22:50 – 23:50

Yes, the exact same act, the exact same stage and the exact same timeslot as last weekend. But honestly, who can we blame? It’s the Swedish House Mafia. We now have a reference of what they played last Friday, and, to be frank, I don’t think anyone would complain if they played roughly the same tonight. So. Many. Memories! (did you see the video of the girl going “DALEEEEE, PA PAAAA” during ‘Greyhound’? She’s our spiritual raver.)

Hardwell

Mainstage – 23:50 – 00:50

We saw him last Friday. Pure bliss. We wish it had lasted longer! But fear no more: for all the Mainstage goers who are going to be left buzzing tonight, right after SHM, Dutch icon Hardwell will be in charge of closing Tomorrowland’s most iconic spot. We’re still recovering from his Freedom set, so we’re craving more of him!

HI-LO

Atmosphere Stage – 21:00 – 23:00

The man, the legend. Back in the times when Martin Garrix was serenading the world with ‘Animals’, this man put out ‘Gecko’ and broke the internet just as much. Ten years ago, Oliver Heldens kicked off his side project HI-LO, focused on a harder Electro-then-gone-Techno alias that’s now arguably even greater than his main moniker. Don’t miss what he’s got to say at Atmosphere.

Saturday

Koven

Planaxis Stage – 22:00 – 23:00

If you’re looking to have a great time, go see Katie. Koven is a stellar duo, producing bangers on a handful of speeds and styles. Their Drum & Bass is perhaps their most recognisable sound, but they have a core essence that is so unique to them that it’s unmistakable. Also, Katie’s energy while playing? Absolute crush.

A-Trak B2B The Magician

The Library – 20:00 – 21:00

These two have made history, even if they don’t sound familiar straight away. While A-Trak is famous for his ‘Heads Will Roll’ remix, The Magician made a name for himself remixing Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers’. If you haven’t sung both of these… no, you must be lying. Catch them going back-to-back for one happy hour at The Library.

Armin van Buuren

Mainstage – 21:25 – 22:25

We witnessed Armin close the Mainstage last Friday in style. He played bangers old and new, even pleasing Old-School Trance fans. The icing on the cake? He closed by inviting Rob Swire, legendary vocalist of Pendulum and 1/2 of Knife Party, to sing their upcoming ID, ‘Sound Of You’ live. We’re eagerly awaiting to see what Armin van Buuren has planned this weekend.

Sunday

Tale Of Us

Freedom – 22:00 – 23:30

Yup, Swedish House Mafia are not the only ones to repeat their slot, stage and act. We also welcome back to Freedom label founders Tale Of Us, the heads leading the Afterlife movement. Their Melodic Techno style has transcended every single boundary, and they’ll be closing the stage on Sunday with an hour-and-a-half set.

John Summit

Crystal Garden – 20:30 – 22:00

Don’t we all love this guy? John Summit himself, the man who introduced the Tech House sound that is much more melodic and apt for all ears than its historic counterpart, is playing at Crystal Garden on Sunday. We can’t wait to hear his biggest hits and upcoming chart toppers live, with the smile and energy he’s known for.

Amelie Lens

Atmosphere Stage – 20:30 – 22:30

She’s won over our hearts. She was once a devoted clubber. And now… she still is! Whenever Amelie Lens is not demolishing entire crowds with her furious, irresistible Techno beats, you can catch her in that very crowd, enjoying the feeling of listening to music just like her attendees. Catch her at Atmos this Sunday.

Final Words

And that’s it! Did we miss anything? We hope you have the best weekend at Tomorrowland, and we can’t wait to see what goes down during the final days of this edition of the festival. See you there!

LALALA

‘LALALA’ promises to be a cheesy anthem with the signature four-on-the-floor House beat and Eurodance-esque and catchy vocals of the duo. The tune takes me back to the 2000s Dance music, a nostalgic feeling I love on the dancefloor. A great addition to the discography of these esteemed producers. The first musical offering of 2023 for the Ducks comes out powerful. I can see this being a household jam for DJs on the dancefloor across the globe. The original track is just under three minutes. I’m so hoping we get gifted with an extended version.

We are no strangers to this duo releasing banger collaborations previously, with electronic anthems like ‘aNYway‘, ‘Barbara Streisand‘ and ‘Big Bad Wolf‘. Those tracks received list of accolades that the duo can boast, such as Platinum certifications across the globe and soaring to the top of the charts in the U.S., UK and Australia. Duck Sauce signed a multi single deal with D4 D4NCE, the UK label, and ‘LALALA‘ being its first single. Defected Records’ D4 D4NCE imprint is famous for representing A-List artists such as Joel Corry, LP Giobbi and Jonas Blue to name a few. This is the first time the duo are releasing music on a European Label. Duck Sauce released their last album Quack in 2014 after which they were silent until their blockbuster releases in 2020.

Tell us what you think of this new track ‘LALALA’. Stay tuned to EDMTunes as we follow the journey of Duck Sauce in anticipation of their next singles.

Drumsheds, now based in Enfield, North London, has three rooms. Room Z is a small, intimate space, with a capacity of just 1000 people. It acts as a great connector between the other two massive rooms in the venue. Room Y, a 5000-capacity room, has the ability of being run separately from the other rooms, making this a great stage for smaller artists. The jewel in Drumsheds’ crown is Room Z, with a mammoth capacity of 15,000 people, measuring a mind-boggling 109,813 sq ft. The venue also has other areas, each ready to welcome eager partygoers.

Broadwick Live, the clever people behind The Beams, The Depot Mayfield, and Printworks, have done an incredible job at converting this former IKEA store into a ravers paradise. With a total 608,000 sq ft at its disposal, Drumsheds is more than twice as big as the late Printworks, which closed its doors on May 1st 2023. Drumsheds captures the same gritty feel of its predecessor, with exposed lift shafts and machinery, made possible by the creative direction of United Visual Artists.

A live orchestra welcomed a star-studded opening party, playing classic disco hits. The lineup featured Afrodeutsche, Derrick Carter B2B DJ Sneak, and Kenny Dope, just to name a few.

Future events at Drumsheds include performances from Armand Van Helden, A-Trak, Gorgon City, Basement Jaxx, and many more. London’s latest venue isn’t worth missing!

Check out the Drumsheds website for all the latest information.

Saturday

Saturday had so many artists I wanted to see. So, I couldn’t just settle on one when I arrived. I walked in and listened to some sounds of AC Slater at the Palms. His set definitely felt like a jungle house set. He didn’t play any tracks I knew. But overall still a danceable set that got the crowd pumping. Next, I walked on to City Steps to finally check out Testpilot, deadmau5’s techno alias. To my surprise, you could hear his signature progressive sounds but he entertained me with its difference. That difference was the bouncy techno bassline, and I think the crowd certainly enjoyed him too.

Furthering my curiosity, I headed to Ocean View where DRAMA played. She gave a great performance, singing her music live and letting the ocean breeze wash over the area. The atmosphere here was great; everyone had dancing space and her music sounded reminiscent of Odesza’s soundscape so you know it provided chill, emotive vibes.

Now, Stephan Bodzin delightfully surprised me. His melodic techno tracks included ones from his Boavista album. I enjoyed his set a lot, as this was my first time seeing him. I had heard about him and now I finally got to hear him. CRSSD seemed like the perfect venue for him. Deep melodies have my heart and so does his sound. His set took me to European warehouses that breathe techno.

Hayden James just moved to the US and he was happy to be playing here. I vibed to all his tracks the entire set. He opened and modified his track ‘Just A Lover’ to an unexpected deep festival cut. Then, he mixed ‘Foolproof’ with Gorgon City’s ‘Tell Me It’s True’. What’s more, he threw in ‘Favors’ and brought back Eric Prydz’ ‘Pjanoo’. I thoroughly enjoyed dancing and listening to him for the first time as well. His excitement while performing got the crowd excited; a wholesome set from a wholesome guy.

DUCK. SAUCE.

When I say set of the night for me, I mean it. A-Trak and Armand van Helden – you guys rock. You want the best in house music? Please see Duck Sauce because their disco house set, and theatrical performance absolutely knocked it out of the park for me. We’ve all seen Armand alone and we’ve followed A-Trak throughout his career. Both are standout producers and legends of the industry. But together? Man, their retro 80s visuals, duck bills, and matching jackets got the people going. Their visuals included an eclectic mix of Fresh Prince clips, 80s singers, dancers, techtonik dancing, and of course, the running of a million ducks. With tracks like ‘NRG’, ‘Barbara Streisand’, ‘Big Bad Wolf’, A-Trak’s remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s ‘Heads Will Roll’, ‘aNYway’, and more, you could not ask for a better set. They closed out Ocean View without a soul standing still.

Ending the night with MK at The Palms, he played an atypical set to my expectations. Compared to his previous piano/deep house sets, this set took a different direction with more jungly, hard-hitting beats. The crowd didn’t stop jiving though which is what CRSSD is all about–the music. And when he incorporates ‘17‘ into his set, you just know everyone sings along.

Sunday

For those that went Sunday, I can only imagine the best in beats from Fatboy Slim, Richie Hawtin, Fred Again.., and Reinier Zonneveld. Though I did not attend, I know whichever stage you chose, you’re going to find the music you want. I wish I could see everyone for even just a little bit. But some sets just captivate you, making you stay.

CRSSD is my favorite festival by far. From food, production, music, and atmosphere. Not to mention, it’s a good weekend getaway in San Diego with the water right there. Also, the event’s aesthetic is everything. You can even dance in fountains! It’s great to see CRSSD expanded with DAY.MVS in August and FNGRS CRSSD for club shows. I can’t wait to see what artists they bring next year.

Follow CRSSD Festival here and stay tuned for future events.

Insomniac made sure to keep safety measures around COVID and the Delta variant as well. Employees of the festival had to wear masks if not vaccinated, along with Insomniac offering COVID shots in the medical tent. Also, attendees had the choice of free masks and the ability to use multiple sanitation stations. Plus, the whole festival took place outside at the massive NOS Events Center.

Headliners at Hard Summer

Headliners this year at Hard Summer consisted of Future, Rezz, Kaytranada, RL Grime, Baauer, Don Toliver, Jauz, Ekali, Lil Dirk,Maya Jane Coles, G Jones, Eprom, A-Trak, Wax Motif, DJ Snake, Malaa, Dillion Francis, 2 Chainz, Skream!, Kayzo, Iann Dior, Hulk Gang (aka Valentino Khan + 4B), Slushii, Joyryde, Saymyname, and Solardo. The only change up in the headliner list was a replacement of Valentino Khan for Flosstradamus.

Moving forward, some of our most enjoyed sets this year were closers Rezz, Malaa b2b DJ Snake, Dillion Francis, and Kayzo. Rezz closed out the Harder Stage Saturday and Kayzo closed it Sunday. Dillion Francis closed the Hard Stage Saturday and Malaa b2b DJ Snake closed it Sunday giving the festival a double bang ending.

About the Shows

Having over a year to prep their new music and live sets, all artists were able to surprise fans with a new experience. Yes, understandably – the headliners absolutely delivered, but numerous artists beyond that received good reviews from their fans. Major highlight here included The Bad Boys Club, Skream!‘s Old School Dubstep set, RL Grime b2b Baauer, and Walker & Royce. Some say this was the best Hard Summer yet, and as a fellow attendee I can agree.

In Conclusion: Another Awesome HARD Summer

Hard Summer is one of Insomniac’s most popular festivals in SoCal. It lives up to its reputation for all of its newcomers. The festival provides 5 stages with drop dead lineups that showcase of artist from all over. Their ground and production crews are some of the best in the nation and they prove so with all the events Insomniac puts on. Hard Summer is only one of the many groundbreaking events they provide as well. If you haven’t been, you should add it to your musical festival bucket list for 2022.

Press shots

It is a long list and a good one too. Every year, Insomniac, the HARD Summer corporate owner, never disappoints its festival-goers with their lineups. Also, they have many other artists in attendance that many of us will be dying to see. Below I have attached the full lineup for you to see. Now let’s dive deeper into this lineup.

B2B Sets at HardSummer

You can’t have an Insomniac lineup without the energy driving back-to-back sets. This year HARD Summer is giving us 4 B2Bs, 2 each day of the event. On Saturday, you have an RL Grime and Baauer B2b on the HARD Stage from 9 P.M to 10:15 P.M. For the 2nd Saturday B2b, they are giving us a G Jones and Eprom show at 11 P.M to 12 A.M closing out the Green Stage.

Sunday, if you’re at the HARD Stage for the closing set you will see DJ Snake and Malaa’s B2B. If you are not, make sure to catch Nitti Gritti and Wuki‘s B2B earlier in the day from 4:45 P.M to 5:45 P.M on the HARDER Stage. Back to Back sets are filled with two talented DJ mixes and combined transitions. They make for good switch-ups on your festival days and gives you a chance to catch not just one but two DJs at once. We strongly suggest adding at least one to your A-team list.

& For Special Sets

Special sets are a growing popularity amongst festivals. They are usually a special live set with live instruments, or a popular artist playing under a different identity, or even an artist playing a different genre or lower/higher tempo than their usual. HARD Summer is supplying us with 3 special sets other than the B2Bs. They are Skream!’s “Old Skool Dubstep Set”, Hulk Gang, and Bad Boys Club. In more detail, Skream!’s “Old Skool Dubstep Set” will be a set playing his style of old-school dubstep. If you are a fan of the oldies this will be a set not to miss.

Going down the list, Hulk Gang is a collaborative project between the likes of 4B and Valentino Khan. This is a killer duo between two well-known producer DJs. Ongoing, we run into Bad Boys Club, another collaborative project between artist Cray and GG Magree. These two ladies making up Bad Boys Club will be controlling the Green Stage between 7 and 8 P.M.

Between the B2Bs and the special sets, you have a lot to think about.

Set Times and Festival Closers

Set times have been released on the HARD Summer website and their social media platforms. We suggest saving a copy just in case the phone signal becomes a little iffy with the masses. Ranger Trucco, an up-and-coming house artist is the first set on the HARD Stage. His groovy set will give life to the festival for the weekend at 2 P.M. on Saturday. Saturday will end with a bang with closing sets from Future, Rezz, and the G Jones and Eprom B2b set. Sunday’s Main Stage will start up with Arius at the same opening time of 2 P.M. Closing the festival we will see sets from Kayzo, Skream!, and another B2b with DJ Snake and Malaa. Below I have attached both days for you to get a better look at the full set times.

Remember to grab a copy for your exciting weekend.

Hard Summer Location & Parking

Luckily, HARD Summer does a good job at supplying black and white info for its attendees, but we’re here to make it even easier for you. Hard Summer will again be at the NOS Events Center located in San Bernardino, CA. A massive venue that continues to have a long and solid relationship with Insomniac. If you need the address of the venue it is 689 S E St, San Bernardino, CA 92408.

In regards to parking, HARD Summer has supplied a detailed message on where to go here. Free parking for attendees will be adjacent to the venue and they have made it clear to NOT park in the surrounding neighborhoods. Also, Accessible Parking will be located near the VIP entrance off of Arrowhead Avenue. If you are Ubering, using LYFT, or any kind of drop off you will need to give your driver directions to NOS events center and tell them to follow the “Guest Drop-Off” signs. The same thing flies with being picked up. They suggest arriving early if this is the option you are thinking about.

If your hotel is part of the shuttle program or you are coming from Orange County or Downtown Los Angeles, HARD Summer is still offering shuttle passes on their website. You can find the city shuttle passes here and the hotel shuttle passes here.

Last but not least make sure to read through the parking lot restrictions and Pro Tips on the HARD Summer parking page.

Have a Safe HARD Summer

HARD Summer is one of Insomniac’s most popular west coast festivals and brings in thousands of fans from all over the world. It focuses on having fun, meeting new people, and of course seeing our favorite artists. In the midst of all the fun make sure to drink lots of water but not too much, watch for occasional bummy pickpockets, and look after all your fellow HARD Summer attendees.

See you there!

If you’re a Duck Sauce fan, old spirit, or lover of house music, this mix is such a trip. You get funk, soul, house, and so much love. This is where the dance moves were born from. It features The Fearless Four, Sly Fox, Jazzy Jay, C.O.D., Jenny Burton, Paul Hardcastle, and so much more. Throw this on during a house party, a quiet night in, or blast it on speakers for the whole town to hear. You’ll be party rocking the old school way with these beats. Some parts may make you zone out to its downtempo, but the groovy energy picks back up again with the next track. The set is perfect for boat parties, with the DJ deck at the front and wind in your face as you dance.

Let’s not forget that they’re also throwing in their latest single ‘Mesmerize‘. If you haven’t heard it, it’s a wild one. Not to mention, it also includes a music video–a first for their songs in half a decade. The boys have been busy working with Helden releasing The Answer, with Chris Lake. A-Trak remixed ‘Feed The Fire‘ with Dave 1, as The Brothers Macklovitch.

The duo always brings interesting, creative ideas to their music production. That music video may look like a retro, subpar CGI movie, but underneath it all is depth to their brand. It’s really quite…mesmerizing.

Take a look at their full tracklist below and stream Duck Sauce’s comeback mix here.
