After nearly eleven years in production limbo, the long-awaited collaboration between Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran, known informally as ‘Rewind Repeat It‘, might finally be nearing release. Garrix recently reignited fan excitement with a subtle, yet explosive, social media tease.
‘Rewind Repeat It’ has been considered “vaporware” since late 2014, when Ed Sheeran first announced the track, calling it his “very first EDM song“.
Garrix premiered the track live at Ultra Music Festival in Miami in 2015. The pair have since performed it together sporadically at various venues. Despite these live teasers, an official release has remained perpetually out of reach for over a decade. But all of that could change soon.
Garrix recently posted a cryptic photo on social media featuring himself and Sheeran. The caption consisted only of a repeat button emoji, which immediately sent his fanbase into a frenzy, reviving hope for the track’s imminent debut. While it is unclear if this post guarantees a release or is simply another tease in the long saga, a release seems probable given that Garrix typically uses his Instagram as a marketing machine for his music.
And while no official info has been confirmed and it’s all speculation, we can’t help but dream about it finally seeing the light of day.
