Violinist and experimental bass disruptor Josh Teed unveils cinematic EP Taking It All In

Following years spent cementing his status as an experimental bass music disruptor, Denver-based producer/violinist Josh Teed has charted a course for nonstop growth.

For the past half-decade, Teed has captivated audiences across the nation with his dynamic multi-instrumentalist live sets, during which he seamlessly blends DJing with violin, synths, and other gear. The creative polymath has vaunted his immersive live show at renowned festivals such as , Gem & JamSonic Bloom, and various official Pretty Lights Pre-parties; toured alongside esteemed bass acts like CloZeeDirtwire, and Koan Sound; collaborated with artists such as Chmura, and Notlö; and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

As Teed’s career continues evolving, the burgeoning beatmaker has come to realize how fast time flies and how crucial it is to savor life’s fleeting moments. Reflecting on the past year – one of the most hectic of his life – he’s found solace in composing music that speaks to his experiences – his way of capturing moments in time, instead of letting them drift into the abyss.

Today, Teed has unleashed those musical musings in the form of his 6-track Taking It All InEP. Released via The Gradient Perspective RecordsTaking It All In is brimming with Teed’s signature cinematic stylings and unconventional sound design. The artist crafted his new EP to mirror the twists and turns of his life journey thus far – serving as a reflection and reminder to cherish every moment and embrace whatever might come your way.

Taking It All In effortlessly melds pop sensibilities with intricate production flourishes, signaling an exciting sonic evolution in Teed‘s artistic journey. Placing a heightened focus on melodic expression, lead vocals, and granular synthesis, Teed’s introspective EP propels his sound to entirely new heights.

Fans got their first taste of Taking It All In via the EP’s lead single, “Just Breathe,” a collaboration with rapper Chuuwee and vocalist Blūm that combines Teed’s hazy, atmospheric essence with a dose of hip-hop swagger.

Next, Josh Teed unveiled “Wildfire,” a collaboration with vocalist Skye Silansky that’s replete with ethereal atmospherics, euphoric bass wubs, and majestic string instrumentation.

The full release of Taking It All In also served up four brand new singles: “Taking It All In,” “Autumn Breeze,” “Clarity In The Chaos,” and “All The Spaces In Between” – a collection of tracks that showcase the artist’s brimming versatility, penchant for intricate sound design, and ability to translate lush, atmospheric soundscapes into vivid visual worlds.

The title track – “Taking It All In” is a mesmerizing, glitch-infused piece that sets the tone for the rest of the project. Next up is “Autumn Breeze” featuring the vocalist muna – a collaboration that brings forth ethereal vocals, enchanting textures, and whimsical instrumentation.

Clarity In The Chaos” follows as a crisp, emotive cut complemented by Julia Khan’s angelic vocals, who serenades listeners with the repeated, heart-tugging phrase: “I want clarity.” Rounding out the EP is “All The Spaces In Between,” a spirited number combining future bass elements with pulsating rhythms, immersive synth pads, and cacophonous textures.

Taking It All In is a masterclass in subverting bass music tropes to create a genre-blending, lavish listening experience. Warping together symphonic elements with traditional bass aesthetics, acute melodicism, and a vocal-forward approach, Teed redefines himself and, in the process, the parameters of what bass music can be.

Fans can catch Josh Teed performing all of the EP’s tracks on his headlining, nationwide ‘Taking It All In Live 2024‘ tour. The four-month run kicked off in Pittsburgh last month, and will stop through cities San Francisco, Atlanta, Denver, and Nashville, plus a performance at the first-ever Texas Eclipse Festival. Oscillating across the stage between his drum pad, synthesizers, and violin, Teed‘s live show is an immersive production for the ages.

On the ‘Taking It All In Live 2024‘ tour, Teed will continue his tradition of giving back to local and global communities, which he strives to do on every tour. For his Colorado dates, he will be partnering up with Boredom Fighters – an organization that sets up production workshops for underserved youth. With the support of the label, The Gradient Perspective, his management team at Mammoth Music Group and his talent agency ETP Agency, they will also be donating 20 trees per tour date through One Tree Planted, an organization that aims to restore forests, create habitat for biodiversity, and make a positive social impact around the world.
