Dream Tonic – Essence
Dream Tonic (Kristin Allen-Farmer) is taking us all on a journey. Her new Essence EP hits all the right chords. The 5-Track EP is filled with luscious sounds, blissful vibes, and immaculate delivery. Essence will take you to dreamland. Each of the tracks holds a certain piece to the puzzle. A listen-through will have you overflowing with emotions. The EP is all in the same sonically creative character allowing our ears to sit back and enjoy.
It opens with ‘Spark.’ This song is gentle and dramatic filled with tension from beginning to end. Vocals are the core of this EP and ‘Spark’ opens our minds. The experimental nature of this downtempo track presents a new sound. ‘Loving’s Coming Down on Me‘ is next in line. Vocal chops intoxicate the atmosphere. This one reminds me of a Kaskade track but slowed down. I think Kristin could really rock one of his tracks if presented the opportunity.
In the middle of the EP comes ‘Step Inside My Mind.’ An emotional track filled with drama, I find this one great for laying down in the Sun. In the middle of the track is a tension-filled Bridge with some harder wubs. The 4th track is ‘Stranded‘ and maybe my personal favorite. Wonderful arps complement an 808 bass giving the EP some edge. I could see this one going off live.
The EP closes with ‘Promise of a New Day.’ However, the track comes in the form of a remix from a good friend Hello Ego. Festival ready, this track will get your body moving right when the drop hits. Experimental bass is on full display and reminds me fondly of a side stage at EDC.

“Although this entire EP has songs of darkness intermingled with hope, there is one particular song – “Spark” – that stands out to me…This song is a testament to anyone who loves someone and serves as their mirror, reminding them of the fullness of their beauty and potential when they can’t remember it themselves.”
