[Event Review] Sasha’s Last Night On Earth Boat Party Launches ‘TEN’

If there’s one Miami Music Week experience that should be on everyone’s bucket list, it’s going on an official boat party. The options abound, but there’s no going wrong with Sasha‘s Last Night On Earth cruise. Not only does it have an icon behind the decks, but the boat is top-notch, and it’s open bar.

The South Beach Lady Yacht set sail from the Museum Park Baywalk area in downtown Miami on Thursday, March 24. Check-in was smooth and painless at a booth outside the boat. By 4 p.m., she set sail south past FTX Arena, Bayfront Park and Ultra Music Festival, Brickell and out into open Biscayne Bay.

The Music

Headlining his boat party, Sasha played the closing set, as expected. He also had DJ Three, Oona Dahl and The Ghost spinning. Sasha got to the stage as the yacht was departing and hung out casually, talking to industry friends and fans. As with all of Sasha’s boat parties, the music was solid and chill to start. As day turned into night, Sasha went harder on the decks. The entire open-air top deck was vibing in the ocean off Key Biscayne.

The Boat

The South Beach Lady Yacht is not your average boat. It’s a luxury yacht with plush couches, fancy furniture and a spacious layout. The boarding deck is a finely decorated salon and the first upper deck with expansive windows provides cover from the sun and wind. The third deck is the main dance floor with open-air views. There are four bars across the four decks, making it quick and easy to get a drink.

“It was great to be back this year for our boat party! Really missed it!” Sasha wrote on Instagram.

The Open Bar

Sasha’s boat party wasn’t just open bar – it was premium open bar. That means that when ordering, for example, a vodka soda, the bartender poured Tito’s. No bottom shelf bottles. The organizers even curated a cocktail list with LNOE-themed drink names. Unfortunately, those menus were removed by bartenders because they were so premium that not all the ingredients were stocked at the bar. GA tickets started at $170, which was a great value factoring in the premium open bar and five-hour boat ride with nonstop music (minus passing Miami due to the noise ordinance).

The Crowd

It was a mature crowd, in part because it is a 21+ event. Tickets were also limited, so there was plenty of space for no one to feel like a sardine. People were

“Great crowd, thank you everyone for coming down and also big thanks to @djthreeofc@oonadahl, and @ghostberlin for being a part of it!” Sasha wrote on Instagram.

‘TEN’

The boat party was part of Sasha’s new ‘TEN’ concept announced last week. It consists of ten new collaborations and ten global events to celebrate the label’s progression. There will be two three-track EPs in April and May, with the full release in June. It has numerous debut collaborations including Mr Sosa from Anjunadeep and Alex Banks of Monkeytown and Ninja Tune.

Sasha has already released his hypnotic rework of Photek‘s “Aviator”, which he dropped on Beatport ReConnect during the coronavirus lockdown livestream. He waited to release it “when you could drop it to 2000 people in a club and they go mental.” The time has come.

“As the label hits this milestone, I want to tell our story – the music, unity, expression, and relationships at the heart of the brand,”

said Sasha.

Final Thoughts

It wasn’t the Last Night On Earth so to speak – but had it been, the scenery, vibes, music and company were nothing short of spot-on.
