The New Festival Everyone’s Talking About: When We Were Young

There’s a lot of buzz in the festival community this week thanks to the announcement of a brand new festival, called When We Were Young. Taking place Saturday, October 22 at Las Vegas Festival Grounds in Las Vegas, Nevada, When We Were Young is a throwback festival, featuring 60 alternative, punk, and emo bands from your awkward teenage years.

The lineup features bands like My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Hawthorne Heights, Taking Back Sunday, The All American Rejects, The Used, Dashboard Confessional, Avril Lavigne, and so many more. The lineup is so insane that many are wondering if it’s too good to be true, claiming this could possibly be Fyre Festival 2.0.

Many have questioned how Live Nation can pull off a single day festival with over 60 bands on the roster. With a 12pm-11am time frame, this number does seem ambitious. Some are also skeptical of Live Nation’s No Refund Policy, especially in the age of Covid, and speculate whether or not this is a scam.

Despite the skepticism, there is nothing so far to indicate this festival is illegitimate. A number of bands have confirmed their performances on social media and Live Nation has an established reputation putting on events of this caliber. This might just in fact be the festival of everyone’s dreams.
