South Park Torches NFTs in Latest Paramount+ Movie

NFTs were quite possibly the hottest trend of 2021. They were everywhere and caused many of us to wonder why people would pay for a digital picture (or song). The music industry was flooded with DJs, labels, and festivals trying to sell NFTs or get people to invest in them. One thing for sure is that people made a lot of money regardless. In South Park’s latest movie special Post COVID: The Return of COVID, our friends in Park County took their chance to rip on NFTs. “Another 30 seconds in that room and you would have started considering NFTs as a viable investment” was one of the many NFTs jokes in this hilarious special.

The special is out and is a must-watch if you are a fan. Its plot surrounds one of the show’s favorites – Leopold “Butters” Stotch. It is discovered he has a certain power to wreak havoc on the world and is locked away in an insane asylum.

This certain power you ask? Leopold “Butters” Stotch has the ability to gather investors and put all their money into NFTs. When he eventually manages to get out of his cell, the downfall of society ensues. I don’t want to spoil anything more but if you hold NFTs dear to your heart, this special may hurt you.

What is interesting is not much love was given to Cryptocurrency. You would have thought they would have ripped on the many ridiculous tokens that have been created in the last two years. Dogecoin, Shiba, Burger Swap, CumRocket, and Meme coin to name a few. Bitcoin only made its first appearance on the show in 2018.

Make sure to check out a clip from the movie below! Post COVID: The Return of COVID is out on Paramount+ now.
