Swedish retail company IKEA jumps on the virtual festival trend with Home Touring, a 24-hour live show. This new virtual festival will take place on September 16, 2021. After perhaps too many virtual festivals, in which fans had to enjoy the show from the commodity of their homes, furniture provider IKEA decided to provide its own show.

If we take a look at the curious program of this creative virtual festival, we will discover various disciplines. The main act of Home Touring will be the “home concerts”. These will be shows where acts will be performing from their personal addresses. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take a glance at the artist’s cookery, interior, and furniture design. Thus far, there are more than 100 homes confirmed as venues. Amongst the artists, we can find people like Loraine James, ZULI, TOKiMONSTA, and Kaytranada.

An Eclectic Group of Offerings

In addition, the IKEA Museum feature will be looking at “the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly” from the retailers’ history. On the other hand, My Home Turf will be offering virtual city tours. Attendees will have the chance to discover cities from the likes of Indonesian vocalist NIKI, Danish songwriter , and Jamaican-American musician Masego.

“Life at home has taken on a whole new meaning for every one of us over the past year, and by being virtually connected, we can open the door to many more lives around the world. Exploring how we all live, celebrating individuality and creativity. Our first IKEA Festival will be our biggest global home tour yet. It will bring people together around life at home in a new way. Both online and in our stores, and will be the beginning of a longer-term movement of real homes and real lives.”

With this event, IKEA is making an interesting move in order to adapt to the current trend of virtual events with an amazing proposal. Although COVID-19 and lockdown may appear to be ending (or at least slowing) in the near future, virtual festivals are a great way to connect people safely.
