Tomorrowland Looking Likely as Belgian Govt Approves Festivals in August

Belgium’s Consultative Committee decided that large festivals can go ahead from August 13th, according to reports in local media. This is wonderful news for EDM fans around the world, as large festivals like Tomorrowland or Pukkelpop were depending on this.

Tomorrowland released a statement sharing the wonderful news. The festival plans to study the new guidance and prepare a few scenarios before giving attendees further information. According to the government, only people who have had their first vaccination against the coronavirus or who have tested negative would be allowed to attend according to local media. Despite this huge step forward for events like Tomorrowland, there is still a lot to discuss. It’s unclear whether there will be a capacity limit, but details will be coming.

Last weekend, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo announced that major festivals should be possible again in the second part of the summer. But only if the circumstances are appropriate.

“I think we can indeed have a beautiful summer, and I call for clear, careful agreements to ensure that major festivals can continue safely. Firstly, you can only start organizing big festivals when hospitals are a safe haven. You have to show that you have been vaccinated or that you have had a recent negative test. A ‘corona passport’ is essential.”
