Sónar Barcelona Postpones Its 2021 Edition But Creates Two Festivals in October

Despite the efforts of the organization to keep the celebration of the festival, the 2021 edition of Sónar has been postponed.

As the pandemic keeps forcing events to postpone their celebrations, Sónar extends the bad situation having to cancel the event for the second year in a row. Besides, the veteran festival, which was going to host its 27th edition will have to re-schedule again. The 27th anniversary will have to wait as its new dates are now set from June 15th to 18th in 2022.

However, Sónar plans to hold two new in-person festivals in Barcelona on the 27th and 30th of October this year. Barcelona already has a few events scheduled during October in order to determine if they are safe or not. The situation keeps changing when the number of cases goes up and down. But if things go as expected, these new festivals will take place in October.

With a constantly changing situation, this summer festival season is still on the line. Ahead of the worst scenarios that could take place during this summer, fellow Barcelona giant Primavera Sound also postponed its 2021 edition. The Spanish Government opened the door to allow 800 people outdoor events before the end of the summer, but the situation is still very uncertain.
