Sonos Teases New Product Coming In March

Sonos just announced a new product coming out on March 9th. It’s rumored to be a smaller battery-powered speaker. All indications point to something portable, so speculations point to something similar to the Move speaker.

Details, Please!

Testing diagrams show that the device is cylindrical and utilizes a wireless charging base, offers Bluetooth, and WiFi 5 connectivity. This could mean a more compact device and cheaper, but operates the same as an Apple HomePod mini would. A smart, portable, Bluetooth speaker? Yes, please. The little baddie may also use less power than the Move.

Sonos CEO Patrick Spence alluded to two new products per year, with excitement in introducing a new one in March. This could be it. Though, it is rumored that the company is also working on a set of noise-canceling headphones. In works since 2019, who knows what the long-rumored mills will churn out.

As for the price, the Move is set at $399 currently, so the newbie may be estimated at around $200. Anyone else stuck in the Sonos ecosystem? Their remarkable audio quality and multi-room capabilities make them a beast on the market. Plus, it is likely to protect against dust and water damage like its predecessor. No evidence points to waterproof capabilities, but perhaps that may be a future endeavor.

With so many competitors, it’s going to be interesting to see how it compares to UE Wonderboom 2, JBL Flip 5, or Bose Soundlink II. Will it be offered in more colors? Can it be used as part of a home cinema system? An event is set to take place on March 8th, so we’ll all have to wait and see what it is.
