Pfizer, U.S. Deal Gives Enough COVID-19 Vaccines For Every American By June 2021

Pfizer has made a new deal with the United States government in which the US is purchasing another 100 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. At a cost of $1.95 billion, the additional 100 million vaccines – provided by Pfizer and its German partner, BioNTech – will bring the total doses for the US to 200 million.

The vaccine deliveries are spread out so that 70 million will be delivered by the end of June 2021. The remaining 30 million are expected to be received by the end of July.

Alex Azar, the Health and Human Services Secretary, shared a statement that this gives the US a light at the end of the tunnel. He explained:

“This new federal purchase can give Americans even more confidence that we will have enough supply to vaccinate every American who wants it by June 2021.”

With 2020 coming to the end and standing as the deadliest year in US history according to the CDC, we’re excited to see some hope for a more positive 2021. If the majority of Americans are vaccinated by next summer, maybe we’ll see the return of live shows & festivals in the fall.
