Sinner (Mathame Remix)

Monolink’s ambient techno track ‘Sinner‘ gets a progressive take by Mathame. The retro-sounding original ups its ante with this remix.

Firstly, the original is an alchemy of electronica and techno sounds. It takes you back to the 80s with its soundscape. Secondly, Monolink’s signature trippy relaxation with slight gravelly, Teutonic voice makes the piece. Then you get the fluid techno remix from the Italian duo and get a hypnotic blend of beats and vocals. Fusing the old with the new, you get a retro yet modern rendition.

German native, Steffen Linck, is a singer-songwriter and electronic music producer. These two very different aspects of modern sound culture make Monolink a fascinating character. His style seamlessly stitches narrative with thumping electronic rhythms. Chords become synthetic pad sounds, hypnotic bass vibrations, and emotional vocal parts. He’ll take you on a sublime journey through physicality and stimulation of the mind.

Mathame is actually the project between Amedeo and Matteo Giovanelli. Started back in 2013, the duo lived in a forest atop the most active volcano in Europe, Mount Etna. Together, they worked on their unique sound that we hear in this remix. As a result, the brothers have a passion for esoteric, old-school dance floor hits. Now, we get to see this side project of curiosities.

It looks like their next appearance is at Cercle Festival this coming October 20th. Moreover, they’re making their way to the Awakenings Festival next year. Since 2015, they’ve released a few EPs and singles. Perhaps we can keep a watchful eye on this act.
