Green Valley May Not Return After June’s Devastating Cyclone

Green Valley shows us the heads and tails of today’s music scene. Shortly after receiving the best club in the world award, the mega-disco is in a state of uncertainty. The party might be over for Green Valley after the destruction caused by the cyclone.

In addition to the coronavirus pandemic affecting the nightlife scene, a brutal cyclone destroyed Green Valley club in Brazil. As soon as the gale stopped, the club released a quick evaluation of the damages. We must remind that Green Valley lead DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs poll in 2020 for the third consecutive year.

Percorremos um longo caminho juntos, e hoje só podemos agradecer a vocês por tudo que vivemos! 🙏🏼⠀⠀We’ve come a long way together, and today we can only thank you for everything we’ve experienced!

The powerful bomb cyclone hit the state of Santa Catarina. Although the staff did not suffer any injuries, the club’s outdoor structure was badly damaged. Definitely, this natural disaster was a hard blow to the nightclub’s aspirations.

Green Valley Tries to Rebuild

Two months and many investigations after, the club’s management estimated the material losses and damage to be around $4 million Reais. Approximately, the amount reaches $750,000 USD.

Every structure that was placed at the end of 2019, the main stage tent, roofs in the cabin area, dressing rooms, were all destroyed. I would like to thank all the strength, support, and love of everyone who sent messages of solidarity. Here at GV, we have already fulfilled some of our dreams and thousands of people, we are moved to joy and good times with music. There will be no lack of will and strength to try to live it all again.

Optimism leads the mentality of the team behind Green Valley, but the cyclone destroyed a big part of the enormous club. At the moment, the club has information regarding a possible return date or even if the venue will rebuild its structure. Due to the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus, the situation is even more complicated. The team’s enthusiasm and will to reopen remains, but without a firm plan. We sincerely hope that the club overcomes adversity and returns stronger than ever. Something that is certain is that the club will communicate the plans and intentions after the pandemic.
