Manchester Police Close Roads To Tackle Illegal Raves

Illegal raves are starting to make their presence felt in the United Kingdom in recent weeks. With the looming weekend in mind, the Greater Manchester Police(GMP) have closed roads around suspicious locations to prevent such an occurrence in their vicinity. These locations were identified as probable rave hot-spots post the weekend of 20th and the 21st. ‘Organised criminals’ are chalking out plans to hold more raves at unnamed locations spanning the city, as per the GMP.

Sand Hills park in the Collyhurst area of Great Manchester saw its roads closed on Saturday. This was after police shut down a 150 strong pre-party in nearby Angel Meadow Park. So, police presence was intensified in Blackley following a tip-off that the party had traversed to a park there.

Then, instances of multiple stabbings, a suspected death of drug overfill and even rape dominated these illegal raves in Manchester last weekend. Some 4,000 people attended a rave in a field near Daisy Nook Country Park in Failsworth on Saturday night. Here, a 20-year-old man died of a suspected drug overdose. Another 2,000 went to a separate event in Carrington, Trafford, where three people were stabbed and a woman was allegedly raped.
