Paul Van Dyk Streams 3 Hours of Trance from Boyhood Club

Iconic trance honcho Paul Van Dyk has put up a massive 3 hour live-stream. The stream took place at Signal Iduna Park, or Westfalenstadion, from the German city of Dortmund. The venue is the home to the legendary Borussia Dortmund football club. The club plies its trade in the German top division, officially known as the Bundesliga. As it is not hard to predict, the Vandit Records boss is a dedicated life-long patron of the club.

Professional sports are temporarily suspended in Germany due to the Coronavirus pandemic. So, the empty stadium provided the ideal backdrop for Van Dyk’s ‘Sunday Sessions’ series. The Grammy nominated producer donned the yellow and black stripes of the club to live his fanboy moment right at its hub. What followed was 3 hours of splendid trance kicked off with ‘For An Angel’, arguably Paul’s biggest hit till date.

Three Hours of Music

Tracks by Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Aly & Fila, The Thrillseekers, Gareth Emery, Faithless with a host of others comprised of the selections that occupied the track list. Needless to say, a majority chunk of tracks are dedicated to Paul’s own tracks and mashups. The set closed with Gerry & The Pacemakers’ ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. This fabled song serves as the anthem for both Borussia Dortmund and the historically rich Liverpool FC football clubs.

The worldwide lockdown period saw Van Dyk postpone the release of his upcoming album Guiding Light. This follows the release of his new album, Escape Reality. The album features 16 of his greatest hits re-worked with more chilled out and ambient modifications by the producer himself. The plight of new music at stake becomes unpredictable, seeing as the global dance floors are not accessible to test them out.

As a result, we got 3 hours of pure, blissful trance, ladies and gentlemen, straight from the stables of one of the selected few who shaped the history of it!
