Gareth Emery has thrown his hat into uncharted waters. The British trance pioneer has recently announced a 2.5 hours stream of his classics ranging from 2010 -2020. Emery was scheduled for a North American tour around the same time now named ‘Decade’. This tour was due to feature his classics over the last decade spanning his first three albums. This was prior to his fourth album that was due this year. Unfortunately, with the virus consuming the dance music world, this tour was not spared from cancelation.
Emery came up with this streaming idea that would have the same name and identical concept as his scheduled tour. Only notable difference would be the broadcast taking shape from the pool of his house. This will be a pay-per-view stream. Anyone who brought the tickets to the original tour would automatically bag a free spot by dropping a mail to decade@garethemery.com. Would apply even if their tickets have been refunded.
So, we’ve got lasers, smoke, multiple cameras, and we’re gonna be broadcasting from my pool (fortunately, I have tolerant neighbors who like a bit of a rave themselves, haha). It’s going to be cool as fuck. This is gonna be one to get your friends signed up to, fire up Zoom, get the drinks in, lights, and turn the living room into a nightclub.

Emery attributes the $10 joining fees to covering the cost of production which he claims would be superior than the actual tour. The initial broadcast would be succeeded by two replays for Europe and Australia / Asia, respectively. Emery himself would be personally making himself available in the chat for both these replays.

This stream is limited to 1,000 tickets which can be purchased here. This new model carved keeping the times in mind can be that much required breathe of relief for the dance music world. Currently experiencing an uncertain turbulence regarding its returnable future, this concept can prove to be the groundbreaking norm that has potential to save the times for the impacted DJ/producer. Going by the initial reactions courtesy of Emery’s Instagram post that announces the stream, sign of the good times reappearing, to some extent.
