Florida Officials Order Closure of Bars, Nightclubs, and Restaurants

During what would have been Miami Music Week, Gov. Ron DeSantis has ordered that all Flordia bars and nightclubs be shut down for the next 30 days, beginning at 5 PM on Tuesday. In addition, dine-in restaurants are planned to close all over Miami-Dade County, only allowing takeout, drive-thru, drive-in, and delivery. Unfortunately, these new changes come just after President Donald Trump suggested that gatherings should not be larger than 10 people.

DeSantis’s decision to take these extensive steps was made during a press conference this morning. He also announced that there are officially 192 cases of the coronavirus that have been reported in Florida. In addition, the 6th death due to the illness has been reported in the state. As a result, the governor has made some serious changes to “reduce density,” according to WXTL Tallahassee. You can view the full press conference below.

This news comes just a few weeks after the South Florida event Ultra Music Festival canceled this year’s edition. However, in substitute for the actual event, the world-famous festival will be holding a Virtual SiriusXM Ultra Music Festival Experience. This news makes the closures of Florida’s nightclubs, bars, and restaurants a little less daunting.
