At this point, event cancellations aren’t a big surprise. If anything, fans appreciate organisers for making responsible choices, and announcing the news early. Organisers of Awakenings Easter 2020 did just that, announcing the cancellation a good two weeks ahead of its 2020 edition, which was to take place from April 9 to 12.

Awakenings clearly explained the reason for cancellation as the extension of governmental measures concerning the coronavirus outbreak until June 1. At the moment, organisers are still working on “finding a suitable solution,” but ticket holders will be updated within two weeks.

While all this had to a certain extent been expected, it’s hard for fans not to be disappointed, especially when the lineup had featured some of the biggest names in techno. This included Adam Beyer, ARTBAT, Kölsch, and Richie Hawtin, among many others.

Maybe some DJs will share their sets anyways, as many have done during these days of social distancing. We’ll keep an eye out, so stay tuned here for any updates!
