It’s not news when DJs stand on DJ table, but it’s a different story when they’re stepping on the equipment. After Skrillex played in Shanghai, China, he posted a video onto his Instagram story of him stepping on the CDJ while playing Chicken Soup.
The video was then reposted onto Twitter and it started gaining attention. Someone pointed out that this isn’t the first time Skrillex had done this. Skrillex’s behavior had upset some people. Others state that performance comes first. Additionally, someone compared Skrillex standing on the CDJ to artists smashing their guitars. Skrillex’s action has certainly garnered mixed responses across the board.
However, what’s ironic is that Skrillex had posted a video onto his Instagram account where the mixer stopped working mid-Chicken Soup. So perhaps it’s a good idea to treat the equipment properly.
Pioneer also responded to the video through a tweet. They discouraged the behavior displayed. And as per usual, a number of fans have turned this incident into an opportunity to create memes and make jokes.
