There are many books published about start-ups, and there’s also a handful of movies out there. Now, it’s Netflix‘s turn to jump on the bandwagon of showcasing entrepreneurial sensations. This time, the start-up taking the center stage is Spotify. The video-streaming platform is developing a scripted series based on the book Spotify Untold, alongside British production company Yellow Bird UK. This series will tell the story of Spotify’s founding, and its journey since then. At this stage, the Netflix project remains untitled, and there has been no news on casting either.

A company with solid results and glowing prospects, Spotify was launched when music piracy was at its peak. Specifically, the series will focus on the specific story of Spotify’s founding and how the Swedish start-up has shaped our music-listening habits since its launch in 2008. In showcasing, “how hard convictions, unrelenting will, access, and big dreams can help small players challenge the status quo,” the series also seeks to inspire.

“I am excited to bring the story of Sweden based Spotify to life on the screen. It is an ongoing fairytale in modern history about how Swedish wiz kids changed the music industry forever. The story is truly exciting and challenging. Challenging because the Spotify story has not ended yet – it is still running with high speed and will probably change while we work on the project.”

Per-Olav Sørensen, Director of the upcoming series

While we’re already excited, Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for the original series on Spotify’s founding. Stay tunes for further updates on this matter.
