Pickpocket Caught With Dozens of Phones at EDC Orlando

This past weekend, EDC Orlando treated EDM lovers to three days of fun — a first for the festival. However, with all music festivals, pick pocketing is still an issue.

A man by the name of Carlos PerezHernandez is accused of taking at least 34 phones over the weekend. The total worth came to more than $20,000. Dressed in a tie-dyed sweatshirt, he was stopped by Orlando police after someone alerted them of a man taking phones from their pockets.

With the arrest not made public until now, attendees went to Camping World Stadium this morning hoping to find their lost property. A couple headliners noticed their phones were gone while at Kinetic Field. Who knows when countless others experienced the same panic? Nevertheless, it is always a sad day when you lose your phone at an event.

Authorities said the culprit had a backpack full of phones. He told them he didn’t know how many phones he had, but they were all his. All set to airplane mode, their locations couldn’t be tracked. This is often the scheme of thieves, right?

Dozens of people filed a police report as well. OPD only identified owners for three out of the 34 phones. Everything is said to remain in evidence. We wish the best of luck to the remaining headliners that did not get their phones back.

Let’s all remember to look out for each other– see something, say something, this is how we all stay safe and have a great time. EDC is a safe space for all to gather, wander, and enjoy. Over 200k people attended over the weekend, with 2020 dates announced for November 13-15.

All are welcome here
