South Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale) has some of the best weather in the US all year round, yet it has never had a proper day club. Las Vegas sprouted numerous dayclubs featuring DJs spinning out at the pool all day long, yet Miami only held DJ day parties like that during Miami Music Week. A real dayclub has been on many wishlists for a long time, and DAER Dayclub opened with Tiesto to grant our wishes.
The Venue
Now DAER is a bit of a jaunt from South Beach, but that means less crazy traffic and less astronomical prices. The New Hard Rock Guitar Hotel brings to full Vegas experience to South Florida. The DAER Club occupies its own corner of the sprawling complex, and the Nightclub is combined with the Dayclub in the layout. When you arrive there is a large staircase from the shopping area up to DAER. The line for this kickoff event was absolutely massive, so it was clear that the excitement was high.
When you walk in for the Dayclub you will pass through the nightclub as well, but during the day it is mostly empty other than the bathrooms, an extra bar, and a few tables. There is, however, a section of the nightclub which plays double duty as the VIP table section for the Dayclub. These tables are the ones behind the DJ booth, and for this launch party they were mostly reserved for press and industry people.
Going outside to the pool it’s exactly the type of setup you see in Vegas, but perhaps a bit smaller. The DJ booth is positioned inside but facing outside with a large LED wall above. Looking out is a big pool and sets of daybeds and tables. It was absolutely slammed all around the outside area for the big day.
For the other VIPs, there is a section for cabanas with special smaller plunge pools so the VIPs can take a dip without being mobbed by those pesky normals. The attendants running around were quick to bring us towels so we can take a dip, and you can already see how nice this setup is.
Since it gets dark at 6pm now, you don’t get that much sun during the headliner DJ set, but once Daylight Savings comes back it’ll be great. We’re told there are big plans for NYE as well as Miami Music Week, so stay tuned for those.
